Series X doesn't look like a modern art piece designed by a fucking retard. Also the controller is better. Microsoft is insufferable, but you don't have to fuck with them a lot beyond just making a Microsoft Account. If there's one thing I can only hope, it's that Xbox separates itself even further from Microsoft in the next generation. Let "Xbox" be its own brand again.

>>
>>744551928
the series s beats it on performance metrics, but it lacks an upscaler built in inherently on the same quality as DLSS, so nintendo can "cheat" the cards in their favor a bit depending on a port's developer expertise.
>>
>>744551928
It's a subset of retards who think SF6 looking kind of the same as on the Series S = same hardware. That's just because Capcom did not want to optimize SF6 for the Series S. While the S2 DOES have ~3GB more RAM (accounting for OS resources and the actual physical amount) and better upscaling (DLSS vs shitty FSR), the S2's CPU and GPU are way worse. The RAM is also slower than the Series S' RAM bnut that doesn't really affect too much.
>>
>>744552689
I get you.. but maan, i really hate this timeline we live in in this whole FSR/DLSS cancer.

Console costing 1500+ is a good thing. Gaming was at its best when it was just a bunch of autistic nerds that splurged money on a niche hobby. It became shit once third worlders and casuals became the main demographic. The getting priced out is a good thing. You may not notice it now, but in 10 years you will be thankful for it.

Sony would fudge the numbers by including controllers, disc drives and Dualsense Edge replacement sticks as "hardware sales" anyway. What they care about now is extracting the most money possible from desperate whales.
>>
>>744556692
UE5 slop will become unsustainable without 5 million sheep buying it day 1. The cost of making games in UE5 is crazy nowadays, since Epic takes 10%+ of the revenue for using their engine, on top of what you have to pay to retailers and store fronts. Also the amount of people needed to optimize it, and how most studios working with UE5 need to have partnerships with Epic to get support on how to even use it effectively. Half of the gaming population getting priced out would kill Unreal slop in record time.

Imagine how funny it would be if we saw a new console generation with weaker hardware than the last one. That would actually be the best case scenario. Make an Xbox E (for Economical) and a PlayStation 5 Lite and market it as a cheaper alternative to current-gen consoles. Use upscaling and frame generation to bolster performance on downgraded ports of current-gen games, sort of like what the Switch 2 already does with DLSS.
Shareholders would have a meltie but that's what's sorely needed right now. Fuck numbers going up. Consolidate your core userbase during this economic crisis.
I don't mind even going back to PS3-level hardware as long as the games keep coming. Anything's better than cloudshit.

I'm a PCfag, brother. Haven't had a non-handheld console since the Wii and that isn't changing. I'm just saying that far too many times have people expected Sony to eat dirt but they've always had the hand of God saving them. I distinctly remember so many people even outside of 4chan saying the PS5 was gonna match the PS3 in price, but it came out at $400/$500, which was the opposite and way cheaper than PS3's release price.

>Who doesn't have a PS5 or Xbox Series already?
Me, I bought a PS5 yesterday.
The PS5 generation seemed uninteresting to me, not just because of the lack of good exclusive titles, but because PS6 was obviously always going to have backwards compatibility with PS4+PS5 games so I figured I would wait for the PS6, or at least wait for PS5 prices to go down. I sort of wanted to get one because I always had a soft spot for the simplicity of consoles and the Switch 2 reignited that for me.

But of course, that didn't happen. And then we got the announcement that Sony would be ending physical media and locking everyone into buying from their dogshit dynamically-priced storefront.

Before you laugh at me, consider that this is going to be the last console gen before shit hits the fan. These prices aren't going down. They're going up. And releasing next-gen consoles in the next couple of years is fucking stupid. The best time to buy was obviously years ago, but the second best time is now. I'm at least lucky that I haven't been in the ecosystem since 2010 so I never bought a PS4 or went through multiple PS5s. At least, that's how I rationalize it.
>>
>>744555084
I got a Series S but wished I got an X instead. Though by the time I had the extra money it wouldn't have been on sale and I think it was even around the first price hike.
I just hope their disc to digital works for the Series S/X.
>>
>>744559823
>Before you laugh at me, consider that this is going to be the last console gen before shit hits the fan.
No offense anon, but why even bother?
We're 6 years into this gen and the PS5 basically has all the games it's gonna get, unless you're really Jonesing for Wolverine and want to play GTA VI ASAP, I don't understand the point.
>>
>>744560129
>We're 6 years into this gen and the PS5 basically has all the games it's gonna get
Do you really think that everyone is going to make the switch to a $1500 console immediately and without hesitation? It's going to be worse than the start of the gen where everyone was still on PS4s because scalpers bought all the PS5s. Official PS4 is only ending this year, it was only last year that PS5 active users overtopped PS4 active users. Most 2024/2025 games support the PS4, and that was only a year or two ago.
And with all the people buying one of these for GTA VI, companies would be out of their minds to drop support for the PS5 so soon. People won't upgrade until the midpoint of the next decade, and that's if home consoles are still the primary method of playing games by then.
>>
>>744560129
PS5 has a disc drive and is backwards compatible with PS4 so it can play a lot of disc based games which PS6 won’t have

>>
>>744560471
I'm more wondering what games you're expecting the PS5 to get (or what games does it already have) that made it worth buying.
>>
>>744560528
Sony already admitted that the announcement has driven demand for the PS5 disc drive accessory + PS5 disc version up. A lot of people are realizing that they're going to have to pay for $80 games on a $1500 console in the next couple of years, and on top of that, PS Plus prices keep rising. Because of that, a lot of people would rather stay on the much cheaper PS5 buying cheaper physical games from Amazon or any physical retailer rather than "upgrading".
The PS5 is a better investment now than it ever was before.
>>
>>744560997
I sold my base PS4 and got a PS5 I’m glad I got the PS5 but I honestly should’ve just kept the PS4 now with this getting rid of physical discs thing it would’ve been better to have a back up disc playing PlayStation
>>
>>744548989
For now. Prices are going to keep going up across the board, consoles are absolutely fucked.
>>
>>744560984
>what games you're expecting the PS5 to get (or what games does it already have) that made it worth buying.
It's mostly just the experience of playing on a console. I played on PC for years but I just haven't had much enthusiasm for playing games on it recently. I played more games on my Switch 2 this year than I did in three years of gaming on PC. Part of that is due to just how awful Windows 11 is, I'm hoping to install SteamOS on my PC when Valve can get it to play nice with Nvidia GPUs.

That being said, I recently bought Bloodborne and the Persona dancing games which I've never played before. They're PS4 games but they're completely new to me since I never owned a PS4.
>>
Yeah. But you're still playing on a console, so you don't win either way.

That's probably because each store now maybe gets 5 in stock at any one time outside of Black Friday/Christmas season. They aren't moving. Walmart doesn't want to have 20-30 consoles sit in storage and not sell. Nex playground is flying off the shelves while Xbox consoles just sit there. Same with Best Buy.
