Imagine how funny it would be if we saw a new console generation with weaker hardware than the last one. That would actually be the best case scenario. Make an Xbox E (for Economical) and a PlayStation 5 Lite and market it as a cheaper alternative to current-gen consoles. Use upscaling and frame generation to bolster performance on downgraded ports of current-gen games, sort of like what the Switch 2 already does with DLSS. Shareholders would have a meltie but that's what's sorely needed right now. Fuck numbers going up. Consolidate your core userbase during this economic crisis. I don't mind even going back to PS3-level hardware as long as the games keep coming. Anything's better than cloudshit.
