Apologize.
online coop was fun and the skulls were refreshinghalo 3 and reach's skulls were boring and tediouswish we got more skulls like what halo 2 had
>>744549780Perhaps i judged you too harshly
>>744549780ok, what it did wrong compared to the original? Halofags, I summon ye!
>>744550725Indian devs supposedly and bad lighting
>>744549780This shit was honestly way worse, saved by the fact that you could flip back to the "original" (pc port) graphics
>>744550872The flipping option was cool.
>>744549780Nothing to apologise. I loved AE and its additions.Better graphics, skulls, ability to quickly switch back to CE, and the new terminal entries.
>>744550872>the fact that you could flip back to the "original" graphicsthis should be a staple imo
>>744549780I guess you could have been worse
The only thing I hated about this was that you had to create a microshart account to play a single player campaign.
no
>>744550725Changed the aesthetics and atmosphere pretty significantly, mostly for the worse. Pretty much every character model looks weird and nothing like what they used to look like in the original game (Campaign Evolved does this too and fucks it up even worse btw). Elite shields are barely visible in this and the Halo 2 remaster for some goddamn reason, which makes fighting then a bit harder unless you pay a lot of attention to the particle effects.Still for the most part it is a decent remaster and not a bad way to play the game. There are good reasons to favor the original graphics over this, but I won't judge anyone who prefers the Anniversary graphics.
>>744550725While CER is outdated on this pic, it still basically paints the image that if you want Halo 1 proper, you play MCC and never touch Anniversary graphics, or go emulate / get original hardware for the OG game. Anniversary blew out all the lighting, killed the moodier parts of the game, fucked stuff up all over the place, and was based on the Gearbox PC port that already fucked stuff up. MCC's fixed a lot of bugs for CE in particular now, but no one cares for Anniversary besides those who hate old graphics.
>>744552337>NEW OBJECTIVE>Clear the landing beach of hostiles
>>744552337It's kind of fascinating how the forerunner structure gets uglier with each remaster.
>>744552696>Hint: to clear the landing beach of hostile you must defeat all the enemies in the area
>>744552337I've never been passionate about Halo but anniversary always looked "fine" to me, maybe it's easier to forgive because you press a button and get your old graphics back. Campaign Evolved simply makes no fucking sense to me when MCC exists with multiplayer and is bundled with all the other gaylos, I think up to 4???
>>744549780Replaying recently and there was a section where the flood were fighting some covenant in the snowy underground area and the flood were in impervious to sniper rifle fire.
>>744552797Campaign Evolved only makes some sense if you look at it as them bringing the series to Playstation, which doesn't even matter now because Asha said that is over, or 343 being so god damn creatively bankrupt that they're going to "remake" the original trilogy because they have absolutely no idea what to do.
>>744553004I guess it doesnt help that I'm an aged out boomer who is now constantly asking "why would I spend money on the new one when the old one is fine"
>>744553004>Campaign Evolved only makes some sense if you look at it as them bringing the series to Playstation>multiplating your IPs even harderThat's not going to work, this was a leftover from Phil's shitty management. Oddly enough there has been some positives to the new CE release; people has been ok with the changes to the library level
>>744552337I think campaign evolved does a better job at capturing the tone of the original than the bullshit they did last time. Still unnecessary but I'm not really minding playing it. should have had old school multiplayer and left it exactly as it was, save for the sprint and zoom shit since theyre adamant about having that.
>>744553142Hold up, it has sprint? Lol
>>744550725The biggest offence was that it didn't come with multiplayer, which would have been a good deal given Xbox Live didn't launch until 2, so the only true online short of network LAN spoofing was in Halo 1's PC port. You instead got a fucking code for a Halo: Reach map pack that had selected Halo 1 maps in it. At least at the time that was the bigger deal since you're given the option to switch visuals on the fly.
>>744553213lifted directly out of infinite
>>744553213yes>Halo with a sprint
>>744553142I didn't play Campaign Evolved yet but all the cutscenes and animations I've seen look bizarre and incompetently made. Shit like Cortana and Johnsson's facial animations are really weird, and the PTSD Marine who shoots at you before you encounter the Flood does this bizarre, awkward stumbling around.
>>744550725Lazily ported over reach models, elites in particular ruined early Halo's aesthetics. Forerunner architecture was worse. Lighting in general was far too bright, which was extremely damaging to the game's tone in the second half with the flood. New level textures did not line up with original geometry, meaning banshees could run into invisible cliffsides on AOTCR/TB. Tons of bugs in its original console version and PC and MCC rereleases.H2A is actually pretty damn good. It preserves the original's artstyle and maintained proper dark lighting, and is arguably the best Halo has looked still to this day. The ue5slop remake definitely isn't visually superior to it. The only two minor issues with it are new cutscenes are prerendered instead of in engine, and you can not play new graphics with original sound/music. The new cutscenes are still very nice.
>new thing was shit, so now you are obligated to like old thing that was also shitNo
>>744549780never apologizing to anything 343 has put out, they have been shit since the beginning
>>744552337bottom looks fucking awful
>>744550725The Elites shields barely light up so it's hard to tell you're even hitting them. Plasma fire is too thin and hard to see making it hard to dodge.
>>744549780H1 and 2's anniversary looks are the very definition of overdesignH1 remaster looks much, much better though, guess they learned their lesson
>>744554306>2's anniversary looks are the very definition of overdesignhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E-QVWuc230Fuck off, shill. H2A destroys the devolved ue5 trash.
>>744552797the point of campaign evolved is literally that it's a new baseline on UE5 for them and whatever contractors to pick up and keep working from for future projects. their own little tutorial/learning game.
>>744554695The game is technically running on Reach's engine with a UE5 visual overhaul aka It's a fucking abomination that is probably still a pain in the ass to work on.
>>744550725dogshit art directionreused assets from the latest gamesound design objectively a step down from the originalremaster textures don't match the geometry of the originalno original multiplayer, just slapped on reach multiplayer with a few tweaked settingsActually when you think about it, it made almost the exact same mistakes that 343 is making now
>>744553213A very fucking weird Sprint.>initial hands-on previews complained that players were able to literally just sprint past all encounters>devs actually take this feedback into account by making the player movement speed at base the fastest in the series>but keeping sprint and nerfing it into still being able to ignore some flood encounters yet just very marginally faster than default speeds>and to keep people from just cheese running everything, ALL DAMAGE now not only cancels out sprint, but slows the player down a little enough that controller aim even has minor hitches every time you get slowed from a hitSprint is so fucked up that their attempts to appease people are crippling even baseline functions.
>>744554761It's a bit more complicated than that really. It's Unreal Engine 5, with a sort of Tag integration using Reach as the basis. So you can mod it, script it, fuck with it like it's Unreal, and use the series Tag logic to modify things like it's Reach with some new tools. It's more like they effectively converted Blam as the spinal cord into Unreal code, instead of simply running a graphical layer on top like Oblivion or MGS3. Good news is they're loose tags like Reach's Tag Test, so you don't even have to bake them into maps anymore, and still be able to package them as .pak files.
