I like how every time AI does something people like you said it couldn't/can't do, like what you're all replying to, the OP, or hands which were a huge talking-point like 2 years ago, you guys just instantly move the goal-post further again and again. What's even the point of constantly doing this? Why can't you just accept that it's not going away, and that it won't just hit a unsurmountable dead-end that you always claim it does every single time? I know at least 2 of you are going to just respond to this by spouting "SAAAR" or other "U INDIAN" type responses, but at least make some effort to argue.

>>744558307
The prototypes and small projects phase is genuinely when this whole thing collapses.

The point of prototype and small projects is iteration. Quick to build, quick to change, quick to fail.

That is the one thing AI absolutely cannot do. It simply cannot hold the context space in its memory, so if you ask something simple, eg. in the bike game say "make this bike blue", it can't just edit the single perfect line, it'll instead regenerate entire graphics pipeline from scratch, changing your rendering functions, your asset management, all of it. So you import the new changes, and it's like you have to QA an entirely new project instead of a single line change. and can you imagine regression testing code that is regenerated every single time you modify it? holy fuck.

This is what companies are already starting to find. AI is very efficient at creating a prototype in the sense of getting something stood up, but the losses when it comes to iteration and deployment and, god help us, support are substantial.

Using AI to create small functions and projects will be around forever.

Isn't it crazy when you think about it? If you told me ten years ago that we'd have technology that could create video games from scratch with a few prompts I'd think we'd be living in the fucking FUTURE. But being here and seeing it in action now? I just don't care. It's sure it's cool and it could get better in the future but why would I care then? I find it really hard to muster up excitement over this stuff anymore considering what it's been used for over the years. Nobody's interested in doing anything cool, it's just one big hustle to grab that bag with as little effort as possible.
>>
>>744558689

>>
>>744558795

>>
>>744558745
That's the rub. These proof of concept prompts aren't because people want to make the games they're showing off, they want to sell the technology so OTHER people will make the games for them. Most of the retards in these threads still won't make their dream games even if the tech got good enough. They want the tech to get good enough so they can beg someone else to give them a free dream game.

It's literally the same as begging artists for free art instead of learning to do it yourself. It's no wonder why so many AI jeets have open hostility towards artists, because they couldn't get the artists to draw their shitty fetish porn for free.

>>
>>744558829
It's being propped up by speculators. The reason this distinction is important is because the trillions being invested is literally all being done on vibes alone.

We've had the hard numbers for a while, the supply shortages and the lawsuits and the lack of a real consumer interest or need. It's not clear at all who exactly is going to pay for it once the money hose is turned off. The numbers don't work.

But that doesn't matter to speculators, because they're literally just betting on the ponies, and they all think that their horse will beat the odds.

And it might be true for one of them. All that's really sure is that the pop is going to come off of something that seems largely irrelevant, in the same way that a pony bettor chooses based on their name or the moon phase or whatever else. Something as simple as Sam Altman getting the flu and it'll all topple over.

>>744558974
As do I. So, do what I asked. Change the bike's color, then show me the commit generated with your (lol) "decent prompt".
>>
>>744558689
It doesn't do that anymore. It generated a guardrail and a framework first, like custom game engine where it can select single aspect at a time to change.
>>
>>744558871
Its progress is jagged. At this point we are ridiculously close to it being able to make something worth playing. The problem with all this remains cost and other corporate factors unrelated to AI itself.
>>
>>744559238
Great. So do it. The code is on github, as is the prompt.

the reason nobody is going to take the bait, even if they wanted to, is because the cost of this change would be way too high to prove an internet stranger wrong

and that's the real reason AI is going to fail. $800 to create a pretend game is one thing, an additional $50 - $200 each time you want to change something tiny, and double or triple or 100x that when you want to change something a bit bigger, is when it all falls apart.

Not that I necessarily care about paying off the loans of someone who went to college to make the next Call Of Duty things that do have a good concept or at least a novel vision will be snuffed out even more quickly since people who only care about making money can attempt to replicate their success more easily. My boss “coded” an entire website in less than 2 months and told us it would have taken 4 times longer if our Engineering team had done it on their own. I don’t get why people don’t appreciate how fast this tech is advancing. A few years ago I couldn’t generate good character concept art for a game idea, now I just saw you can generate entire cutscenes with a single screenshot as either part of the prompt or even as a starting point.

Then it was AI isn't commenting code

It's not like any of those things are wrong, but with emerging technology like this there will always be something to fix and something that gives it away. Can someone actually articulate how AI generated content will result in better games or will help the game development? So far its only proving out to do the opposite considering the following:
>There's no labor shortage or lack of capable game development talent available to hire - be it artists, programmers, designers, etc. What gap is generative AI and AI agents filling in the content pipeline?
>Game development time and cost typically isn't bottlenecked by content creation, but rather the time it takes to integrate, verify and test the content in a game. Producing and integrating more assets at a faster or cheaper rate would still increase game development time and costs proportionally, especially if AI generated content requires more testing and verification than organically authored content.
>There's no shortage or unmet demand for more games, games are a well oversaturated market. If generative AI assisted development was capable of producing more games at a cheaper and faster rate, would this improve anything or just make the oversaturation issue even worse?
>There's no demand from players to consume AI generated content in games. According to several studies a game having AI generated content is more likely to reduce sales making any potential development time and budget saved a wash.

I think for art it's a dead end. People can tell something's off about AI art whether they realize it's AI or not, and will gravitate towards bespoke things. And humans will continue to want to produce art themselves. I think the market for this is imagined by autistic chinks, jeets, and silicon valley allbirds wearers who literally just don't understand or appreciate the meaning art can have.

For productivity, I think it's here to stay. I think anyone who has tried to integrate AI into their professional workflow has found something useful.

AI is definitely useful in a professional setting, that being said it's subsidized at the moment, I have to babysit cheap/open source models because they do retarded shit all the time but the SOTA ones I dont have to as much and I can just say "fix this bug" and only need to steer it sometimes.
that's truly useful but I'm paying the $30 a month sub, this model actually would cost multiple dollars per query if I were paying what it actually cost to run and then it becomes more hairy, would I let Fable spent $50 hunting down a bug I already know how to fix? probably not.

Dude right now AI is being subsidised to an insane degree by investors who are hoping you're stupid enough to make yourself dependent on it. You're basically bragging about how cheap you're getting heroin right now.

Companies are already starting to crank their prices up. $863 to make that? Lmao slap a couple zeros on the back end of it.
>>
I'm not completely against AI, but it definitely diminishes what media can be. It makes creators lazy, and the human experience gets pushed aside in favor of a machine that can only remix whatever it was fed. That's why all those chink gachas have the same overdesigned outfits, and why most of those UE5 open world games look and feel exactly the same.

They're never gonna bother making their own graphics engine to give their game a unique identity. Even if a custom engine doesn't run perfectly or has some flaws, those games still end up feeling different. They stand out in the endless sea of UE5 slop.

It genuinely makes me sad how fast AI is advancing, because it feels like it's eventually gonna kill creativity and humanity in favor of convenience and making development cheaper. There won't be any reason for developers to travel to other countries, experience different cultures, talk to people there, eat different food, or get firsthand inspiration when a machine can skim a picture book or a Wikipedia article and just vomit something out.

AI can absolutely help us get things done, but at the pace it's advancing, it'll end up doing all the work. And yes, even the low and mid level jeets won't be needed anymore.

>>
>>744565939
they're forcing people away from token seller providers so you buy into their subscriptions, when the competition dies they'll jack up the price to individuals.
calling Fable over an API costs like $1.50 for a simple call and response but through an Anthropic sub you can do it all day as part of your cheap ass sub.
A friend told me their company is spending $400k a month on API calls and are now telling employees to use the cheaper models cause it's starting to hurt lol.

I wish I had a crystal ball to see into the future when the subsidizing has to stop and we see what they actually need to charge to stay afloat, I really wanna know if the economics work out or whether it's cheaper to have a dev that just knows the codebase instinctively instead of needing to suck up $20 in input tokens every request.

Human consumers aren't even the target audience anymore. AI content is mostly targeting AI consumers so it doesn't matter what it looks like to do you as long as algorithms scoop it up. The internet is approaching 80% non-human traffic, so humans are a slow dying minority. Hell even this thread is mostly just bots. Many bots posting in these AI threads are prompted to post enthusiastically about AI generated content and antagonizing anyone seemingly anti-AI.

I'm aggressively disinterested in AI. this seems to upset a great deal of people for some reason. i do use it sometimes but its more or less a search engine result aggregator. my workplace is constantly shilling ai at the behest of microsoft and i have to pretend to not just like it but be completely fanatical about it. it's extremely retarded.

i wouldn't play an ai game because it's obviously going to be low effort crap full of hallucinations and nonsense.

>The problem will come when people don't know what what code does or says
It's already like this. This thread is the proof. That jeet probably never coded a single line in its life and just prompted Claude like
>this doesn't work
>Claude: shits out another solution
>this doesn't work
>Claude: shits out another solution
continuously, without debugging, until it got what the jeet wanted.

You can have all the best tools in the world but you won't be able to use them properly without some background.

NTA

I don't call anyone who doesn't write a book or a novel an author and I certainly don't see any human capable of consuming all of those AI produced novels. So I fail to see how RPing having hundreds of millions of users proves or disproves anything.

Consider how many remakes/remasters have come out this last generation, now imagine if they could completely automate the process using AI.

I literally can tell that it's a video game, how can I possibly enjoy it if I notice that it's fake? And they're shipping this in big plastic boxes, that's like horrible for the environment and there's 0 benefit to mankind, how is this useful to anyone?

I won't use Claude. You can't make me use Claude. I won't board the Claude hype train. I'm team Gemini you'll see. Pro 4.0 will come out and blow everyone away. Claude will win the AI race only because they were smart and marketed towards businesses and focused on coding and writing. They only have like 30 million users, but a large majority of corporations and businesses use Claude, and those businesses pay FAR OUT THE ASS for the services, so they're actually making more money than OpenAI, which is why OpenAI is trying to improve their coding and try to overtake Claude's customers.

The money is in businesses; not individual users. OpenAI relies on subscriptions for revenue, but at $20 per month...it's not much. Businesses can afford to pay like tens of thousands per month in subscription fees and tokens. Larry sitting on his PC with Reddit open isn't going to pay that much to generate pictures and videos.

Technically I still prefer ChatGPT, but I got a year of Gemini Pro for free, so no reason not to use it. I don't know if it's true but I saw comparisons that said Gemini Flash 3.6 is on par with ChatGPT 5.5, though I must admit Gemini Pro is the weakest pro model on the market right now. You'd be better off paying for ChatGPT 5.6 or Fable 5, Opus 5, Opus 4.8, etc. For general knowledge work and casual usage; you really don't even need to use a pro model for that. People actually paying for access to pro models are usually doing so because they use it for business or anything pertaining to their "work" whatever it is they might actually do.

I'm hoping Gemini Pro 4 will be out before the end of the year; I feel like it will be, of course what sucks is by then I'm sure Anthropic and OpenAI will have released even stronger models. You'll probably have ChatGPT 6.0 or some shit and Fable 6, Mythos 6, Opus 6, etc.

Because it lets them hide their lack of intelligence, simple as that, that way they can play pretend that they are useful for the fagman so they can get out of their shithole of a country.
>>
>>744573802
They lack any kind of media presence outside of Bollywood movies, and even those are a joke. Like, when was the last time you played an Indian game?
On the other hand, they have lots of people who work with computers, so I guess the tendency for many of them is to brute force the issue using AI.
>>
>>744573887
You're getting games made by jeets with AI and you will love every bit of it.
>>
>>744573802
they're just so retarded that they dont really understand the implications of everyone having access to AI.
they dont understand supply and demand. they think that if they achieve "AGI" then they just have a get rich quick tool. in reality every other indian also has access to their get rich quick tool and will also try getting rich off of it, subsequently destroying any value their own AI games might have.
