I never played this game. How is it?

Pretty good, very good if you like Godzilla. Plays like giga-bash with movesets maybe two to three times as complex if only because each kaiju has moves dependent on input directions and combo placement. Beams are better with a secondary energy meter that slowly builds back up and can be charged for more damage plus knockback. Some characters have unique traversal capabilities, Megalon can burrow, Ghidorah and others can fly. If you're gonna play one of the old pipedream games Save the Earth has a better cast and as a sequel is just a straight up improvement on DAMM

Pretty fun, small cast so it's balanced pretty well.

Personally my favorite of the trilogy, feels a little tighter than Save the Earth in my opinion. Not very balanced, but who cares? Extra modes are fun, though it's kinda dumb some are multiplayer locked. I guarantee the original will be better than the upcoming DEmake, also the Xbox version has some cool extra stuff like Kiryu.
Also Wayforward basically made a GBA version (Jp. billed it as the GBA version, here it's called Domination) that's also really good.
