how do you actually get cards and build decks??? what is a good starter deck???
>>744562823Red Deck Wins is pretty good.
>>744562823Best way to get cards is to grind dailies to get enough gold to do a sealed draft, maybe get some rewards on top of the six packs, then use those to flesh out the starter decks until you gradually build up enough wildcards to make an actual deck. All the starter decks are ass but you'll be queued up against other people with starter decks so just experiment and see which ones you like.
This game sucks. It hasn't been fun in decades. Now its just Fartnite the tcg.
>>744562906alright
>>744562823If you're a paypig just buy packs.
>>744563049Speaking from experience, F2P is possible but it's a fucking slog for the first few months. The events are slanted so even a 60% winrate is barely enough to break even. Once you've got a war chest it's pretty easy to stay stable, but actually accruing resources is an uphill battle. Best ROI if you do spend cash is on the starter pack of gems and draft tokens, but if you aren't good at drafting it's very easy to go 0/3 and waste your gems. How familiar are you with the game?
>>744562823Fuck this game. Give us our duels of the planeswalkers back.
>>744563167i saw some videos on instagram and is interested
>>744563383Alright, in that case I wouldn't worry too much. Magic is a complex game but the Arena tutorial is pretty solid, and once you've played a bit and know more about whether or not you like it at all you can worry more about 'building a deck' rather than just adding cards you like to decks you have.
I thought this game was fun for a few days when it first came out, but it quickly became apparent that they fuck with your card draws to make you lose/win if you're on a streak. Where's the fun in playing a game like that?
>>744563726Isn't every multiplayer game 100% like that?
>>744563726There's hand smoothing that can cause some fuckery but beyond basic variance and matchmaking I've never seen evidence of actual mandated losses. Magic's just a game where you can lose from pure topdecking a nontrivial percentage of the time.
how tf do you even get into Arena at this point since unlike MTGO you can't just go buy a non-meta competitive deck for $25. i've been playing since closed Alpha and the thought of starting this game now seems impossible without spending literal hundreds of dollars.
>>744564347As someone who also came in very early, I genuinely have no idea. But I'm also not sure who the fuck is getting into magic as a TCG to play the game as opposed to buying the cardboard funko pops and fucking off. All I want them to do is make Vintage Cube permanent and let me pay them $X for infinite phantom drafts of every set that comes out.
>>744562823by uninstalling it and playing the superior game instead.
>>744563263I still have all of them. They just removed them from the store, but games are never removed from your library.
If you wanna play magic you need to pay up i'm afraid. Don't let anyone trick you into thinking you can enjoy this without opening your wallet up for Hasbro
>>744564968Or just download xMage for the Pc where all of the cards are 100% free
>>744562823Arena is completely fucked and rigged in every conceivable way, from your draw hand to your matchups. And you get jack shit for resources if you just want to progress by playing. It's a whales-only client now.
tried the game out and this game is fucking gay
>>744564912I'm not saying they're gone, I'm saying to make new ones. Where there is some sort of parity between players instead of whales just being strictly better. It's way more fun to theorycraft decks with standard cards given to you than it is to pay for the ability to win.
don't fall for this scam. each set costs like $200 if you want to unlock everything
>>744566197Yea you're better off buying 2025 real card sets then waiting 2 to 4 years and sell them for 100x the price
>>744566197Which would be fine but the current pace of sets being released is insane. Even if you want to get cards through drafting you are constantly having to learn new sets.
>>744564053yeah, and that's why they all suckbeing forced to lose by an algorithm is insanely shitty (so is being forced to win, because it cheapens the accomplishment)
>>744566383Dota2 thought me that well.
>>744566102>I'm saying to make new onesI agree. I'd buy endless annual $10 Planeswalker games but seems like they just hate money.
