Should I play the 1999 Masterpiece Edition?
>what >the fuck does that lever do
>>744563861If you think you'll like it go for it the game is like an hour long. Longer for a first time but it really is a simple game.
>>744563969>an hour longfor real? i just looked up a lets play on youtube and it was like 10 hours long
>>744563969You're not supposed to look up solutions lil zoom
>>744563989It isn't near that long that is a youtuber playing up the timer for views. As a first time player it is going to take you like 2 hours.>>744564006Who would look up the solutions to Myst?
Myst or the 7th guest?
We do a not insignificant amount of tomfoolery
>>744563969>just learn music>it's simple, you simpleton
>>744563861
>>744565287That top one was so bad that I genuinely wondered if there was some underwater area I missed
>>744563861Yes, if you really want the original slideshow game play that. Otherwise the 2021 remake is fine. And yes it will take longer than two hours your first time
>>744565514I look like this and do this when I play a quality game like Myst or Riven
>rugged island>mysterious facilities>promise of more puzzles just around the cornerwould you like to explore further? click forward now
>>744565514he looks happy
>>744563861diddy blud epstein ass island...
>>744563861play the remake and turn on randomized puzzles
the remake also has the rime age
>>744563861No, play the recent remake. It's the same game, but with proper controls instead of the original's slideshow bullshit. And the higher resolution makes reading text a lot less straining on the eyes. The only thing the original has over the remake are the live action cutscenes instead of the remake's CGI.
you should play realMyst
>>744563861Ye like the first cabinet you found near the steps in that dock has the key to the finale. Get it out and you beat the game. Done.
>>744563861play remake. point and click sucks.
>>744566348>live action cutsceneswhich are just a face talking into the camera with static overlayed so you're not missing much
the puzzles are pretty fun but the gameplay is awfuldo every puzzle once to experience them and just look up the full story if youre interested in that
>Play the original>Really challenging, barely manage to reach the age with a ravine, get stuck there>Play the remake>Finish it in one 5 hour long sittingIt's amazing how much of my brain's processing capacity had to be dedicated just to navigating the original.>>744567606They have their charm.
>>744566348the whole appeal of the game is the charm, and the whole charm of the game is the prerendered slideshow
There are like 4 different versions of this game and no definite conclusion on which is the best one.
>muh graphics the game
>get stuck on the clock tower puzzle for fucking hours because I didn't realize doing a certain thing was even a mechanic in this fucking game because nothing else uses itfucking myst
>>744571703This. I was just looking it up the other day, came to no conclusion
I wanted to play the whole series, but after realMyst masterpiece and Riven, I got filtered by Myst 3's Google Earth street view movement. I am ashamed. I'll probably give the game another shot.
>>744571829
Recommend me Myst like game but with actually good story and puzzles.
>>744563861Yes, it's the best version. Don't look up any solutions unless you absolutely have to. There's only like two puzzles that don't make sense, and only one that's actually poorly designed
>>744574007Myst 3
>>744574541Speaking of, are Myst games even connected story wise or are they each their thing? Can I play Myst 3 without playing the previous games and not get confused?
>>744571903holy fuck same, gave me actual headachesi'm just gonna wait for the remake
>>744574942they are
>>744574007Riven is genuinely one of the best games ever made
>>744574942Riven literally continues in the same room where Myst ends. And Myst 3 is a proper sequel too.
>>744574007Isn't Outer Wilds essentially a myst-like. However it's not very strong neither in puzzles nor story.
>>744575438Less puzzles more archaeology and exploration
