Factorio Ethics Question
>you are playing a new playthrough
>complex mod
>you have to build a new facility
>you have done this before in an old save, but you never got around to blueprinting it
>do you load the old save and blueprint it, or do you do it from scratch now?
>>
>>744564418
well I don't fucking play Pyanodon's, that's for sure
anyways, for me, it'd be from-scratch
>>
>>744564418
>bots and blueprints
how to suck all the fun out of the game
>>
>>744564849
Maybe for brainlet vanilla players.
>>
I had just heard of a mod where in order to produce shit you had to do paperwork and a bunch of bureaucratic shit and that was your obstacle instead of biters but I forget what it was called, does anyone know what I'm talking about and is it fun?
>>744564418
To answer your question I always start from scratch until I need balancers
>>
>>744565061
administratorio I think

if you already know to build it, it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes to re-do it from scratch.
>>
>>744564418
you do whatever you feel like its a single player game and you are in control of your own decisions where no one has to know.
>>
>>744565096
Yeah, that doesn't really apply to something like Pyanodons. Even individual facilities get quite complicated.
>>
Literally only trannies use bots and blueprints.
>>
>>744566376
White men use power tools
Africans (you) stick to bashing things with rocks when power tools are available
>>
>>744566560
This.
>>
whatever you feel like.
You know best if this will kill the fun of the game for you.
>>
>>744564418
what the fuck is unethical about making a blueprint of YOUR OWN DESIGN?
>>
>>744564849 If you aren't hand-crafting every single iron gear while doing your actual real-life taxes on paper, you aren't playing real Factorio. Real factory chads place 50,000 transport belts by hand with zero bots while screaming at biters. Grow up and suffer like the rest of us, fucking casual.
>>
>>744565096
What if I know how to make a recursive smart mall, I just don't want to program all the combinators and then debug it again.
>>
>>744572105
>recursive smart mall
You didn't beat the game.

Hello, I'm a professional ethics here. I'll be happy to give my expert opinion:
Playing video games is unethical. You should spend that time being productive or with your family.
>>
>>744572431
what if your family is playing factorio?
>>
>>744571679
People unironically said this shit about Satisfactory before they added blueprints. Masochistic players are fucking weird.
>>
Can someone brainlet explain to me how you automatically request items on nauvis so a space platform flies to the planet to pick it up and back.

This is my second attempt at space age and actually managed to get to Gleba with a terrible spaghetti starter base. Might start a 3rd run to better use what I learned on this one.
>>
>>744572528
Don't think you can do that until 2.1.
Other than static requests.
>>
>>744572750
I think static requests is what I mean, like a request for vulcanus science packs so a ship just goes to pick some up automatically.
>>
>>744564849
the game is quite literally unplayable if you have to do shit manually
>>
>>744564418
I usually blueprint something big like nuclear power that I really can't be bothered recreating from memory. And balancers, fuck that shit.
The only mod I played to completion was B+A and I really enjoyed planning everything and dealing with byproducts, how hard is Pyanodon's compared to it?
>>
>>744564418
Always start from scratch. I don't keep blueprints between runs.
>>
>>744572853
You schedule the ship to fly to vulcanus, stay there until X science packs, fly back to Nauvis, stay there until 0 science packs, repeat.
And make sure to either request the science packs on Nauvis surface, or set a condition on the ship that when on Nauvis, it has to dump all science with no consideration how much the planet already has.
>>
>>744574638
If you like byproducts, I'd recommend Nullius before Pyanodons, it'd also be a better experience making Py last since it's a huge beast.
>>
>>744571679
Struck a nerve, eh? you fucking retard
>>
>>744574638
Bobangles is maybe a tenth of Pyanodons.
Also if you like byproducts, there's Nullius.

Bots and blueprints are jewish, I design every factory from scratch and build everything by hand.
>>
>>744572934
Negroid work ethic
>>
>>744574874
oh okay just like flying trains I suppose? never thought of it like that thanks.

Do you know of a recent space age appropriate video for understanding oil cracking circuit conditions too? Or will an old video still be relevant.
>>
>>744575286
>make 1 holding tank for each product
>build 1-2 cracking plants for each refinery you have
>press alt+r to load red wire
>connect heavy oil cracking plants to heavy oil tank
>select plant
>at the right side of the menu check "enable if"
>set it to heavy oil and ">20,000"
>repeat the same steps for light oil cracking
You don't need to build combinators or anything. Its pretty simple.
>>
>>744564418
i don't like blueprints. from scratch every time and spaghettify as much as possible and without planning ahead, last minute bypasses, fucked up chaotic sushi belts everywhere, circuits to flash lights here and there, every task of expanding should be a puzzle and keep me up at night, unless everything looks like a giant living breathing monster with trains going in and out of every orifice i get bored real fast
>>
>>744575187
doing things by hand is negroid, automation is white.
>>
>>744575457
If you wire all the tanks together you can do "if heavy oil > light oil" and "if light > petrol". It'll equalise all three and will keep working without needing to readjust numbers as you add more tanks to each
>>
>>744564418
Im autistic about mods and settings, I literally never mod or change difficulty settings in anything ever, even have a couple 100 hours in skyrim with zero mods ever installed, same with minecraft
>>
>>744575006
>>744575082
Oh shit, I'll leave Py for later then. I heard or Nullius but never tried it, might as well then.
>>
>>744575725
>without needing to readjust numbers as you add more tanks to each
Why would you add more tanks instead of more cracking plants? If you're currently using heavy/light oil then it's going down the pipe so who cares about the tank, if it's not and you can't stop it from backing up you'd probably be better off cracking more petroleum rather than slapping down a few more oil tanks. Oil tanks that will equalize themselves anyway so the one circuit condition on the one tank will still do its job just fine. If you're backing up on petroleum your higher priority should be to find out why your factory isn't working.
>>
>>744575725
You don't need to adjust it when you add more tanks, just don't hook them up to the wire.
>>
is it possible to beat space age without bots?
>>
>>744576683
Yes, if you're stubborn about it.
>>
>>744576683
You want to manually build everything each time?
>>
>>744576683
Yeah, its pretty easy to solve each planet without bots. However, you'd still really want logistic bots to send various items to rockets. I guess its technically possible to handfeed them, but you're just causing yourself problems at that point.
