>>744566250Stole the thunder from Demon's Souls because it wasn't a gated exclusive on a nogames machine with no emulation available for it at the time. The first game is more interesting and more consistent and it already established everything that's in Dark Souls anyway. The estus flasks system would have been a great improvement over grass but you get to a point where it makes more sense to eat attacks with poise and spam heal. The thing that it did well was the interconnected part of the first half but that alone isn't enough for it to be rated that much higher than DeS never mind the falloff in quality by the latter half

I liked the Dragon Lake a lot. In general, most situations with the dragons in-game were awesome and I love the Obsidian Greatsword.

I'm old enough to remember the days when /v/ fucking LOVED and ADORED Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, once they became massive viral hits a couple years later everyone here did a total 180 and claimed they are bad games all of a sudden, I think it might have been around the time when Pewdiepie started playing Dark Souls.
