PlayStation is more normie coded than Nintendo, yet a lot of weeb games came out for the PlayStation 2-3. The kind of weeb games that only real honest to God neckbeard growing, trenchcoat wearing, samurai sword swinging, fedora tipping, figurine collecting, body pillow gooning convention attending weebs played. The kind of games and IPs normies didn’t know existed, and now in 2026 being there for these games and having played them in their prime gives you a lot of nerd cred. Meanwhile Nintendo is more like a subculture in its own right, and while definitely Japanese and not normie, I wouldn’t really call Nintendo franchises to be “weaboo” per se. You get your own special cred in the vidya and media consumption world for Nintendo, sure, but not weeb cred.
