I never understood wuxia. The stories I've seen so far are corny as fuck.
>>744570168Eye candy
>>744570168Picture the quarrels of the Olympians, only instead of Olympians it's a bunch of random chinamen who have attained godlike-prowess, yet none of the wisdom in how to use it, because the wise ones usually just ascend to the autism realm and don't make for good storytelling.
>>744570168That's because they're Chinese soap operas
>>744571102I thought wuxia were Chinese pulps?
>>744570168Fuck off, retard.
My ideal Wuxia game will never exist because retarded chink devs don't know how to make diverse combat systems without recycling the same 5 gibberish techniquesAll I want to do is combine weapon + element. Ice palms? Cool. Thunder sword? Based. Wood fan? Sounds retarded but sure why not. Instead we HAVE to have a single (one (1)) ice palm technique in each game instead of a whole series of ice palm techniques and now every character feels like a cheap knockoff of actual Wuxia protags. The Northern Ice Palace had a lot fucking more than a single palm technique you FAGGOTS

>>744578218Would an Ice Sword and a Fire Sword have the same moveset just with different elemental damage, or would every weapon have a unique moveset for each element?
The land is cloaked in deepest blue
>>744578404For that scenario, same moveset with different elements, but there's levels of depth they could go to to still make them uniqueMy ideal is basically>8 weapons>each weapon has 20 moves>9 elements>the main 5 (water, fire, wood, earth, metal) + unique 4 (ice, thunder, light, dark)>weapons have a skill tree, elements just level up (or both have a skill tree depending on dev autism, but this is the easiest)>elements each have an associated stacking debuff or synergy (ice chills, then slows, then freezes; fire stacks burns and reduces defense on the final thing; wood and earth give different defensive buffs, etc)>moveset is picking 6 skills from weapon trees>you pick either a single weapon or dual weapons (either all 6 in one style or 3/3 for dual)>a single element or dual elements (either max out element bonuses or get partial mastery in 2 and try to find synergies)>any "unique movesets" are just unique weapon that you can throw any element on top as per normal. Maybe you're forced to use a set 4+ techniques, so you have less choice in exchange for unique benefits and can only master that one weapon>if they want to be extra fancy, they can make it so each weapon's 20 skills are split between slash, thrust, blunt or something. And elements synergize with these in some way
>>744578316Crown would never take Chime's hat.
>>744578797I'd play the shit out of this. I got tired of a similar thing in Hero's Adventure and Wandering Sword. Felt like builds were a mismatch of terrible moves. Both games even had a combo system for fists with only like 2 moves each that actually worked with combos lol. Gayest shit I've ever seen, felt like they tacked it on last second
>>744578797what the closest thing to it that exists, wuxiafag? I can only think of western crpgs liken everwinter nights for such build variety or nioh for different weapon movesets and elements (guardian spirits)
>>744578797>>744579938Kinda sounds like how character building work in City of Heroes/Villains.
>>744579938Depending on genre>action combat, Nioh is probably your best bet overall. Absolver has the best build customization but isn't as fun (imo)>RPGsas >>744579524 said, Hero's Adventure and Wandering Sword are the closest in terms of build variety. Tale of Wuxia and others in the series are classics too>mixThe Matchless Kung Fu is pretty good and has decent build variety and actually uses the elemental system, but it's a case of "one element person weapon skill" so it's still behind. Also the translation was truly gibberish back when I played it>city builderOnly I can really think of, and it's Xianxia rather than Wuxia but you've gotta take what you can get, is Amazing Cultivation Simulator. But it fills the urge and has a lot of depthThere's a lot more but they're mostly in the Xianxia genre rather than Wuxia, and none really scratch the proper itch I have
>>744570168Worth it for the wuxia girls
Please let this quest be fun...
Wandering sword is pretty good even though its pixel shit. You run around first getting bullied until you learn its better to be the bully.. so you wander around giving people fish and then beating their ass for steroids until you move up to bigger assholes that can teach you how to goon (cultivate) if you give them esoteric valuable and close enough to their power level
>>744571102>>744573396They are chinese isekai
>>744579524>>744580318Sword is a bit boring but is your definite go to on a first run of wandering sword. You get decent abilities for survival and plenty of good swords given by the story. You get plenty of sword companions some just outright suck.
Bring back Age of Wushu but modernize it. Retarded devs you're sitting on a gold mine. China has more influence globally and now even English games are getting chinkslop-pilledBring back Age of Wushu but good. Do it right now
>>744571023That's XIanxia. Wuxia is more grounded.
There is a lot of cool Wuxia lore to go around to make a game. Problem is that Chinks like WoW so much that they just prefer to make WoW copycat.>Yi Yang finger: Basically air canon shoot from the finger tip. Upgrade into 6 Meridian Sword where you combine shooting aircanon with swordmanship. >18 Dragon Subdue Palms: 18 moves skill with each move have one particular application.>Stat Absorbing palm: Suck energy and enemies toward the user. >Icy Palm: Cold palm strike but also turn the user into a vampire>Seven Self-harm fists: attacks that are so powerful that it cause damage to yourself aswell. > Sunflower Manual: give you godlike speed but you become insane due to self castration.
>>744582296Would be okay if each manuscript was an independent "class", but it would be impossible for a game to be finished if they both wanted to add all that depth to each major sect's main 'thing' and also allow a lot of customization. And even then a lot of these would require a lot of stacking systems for a single manuscript. Ironically, your complaint about MMOs is where these systems were done best, in Age of Wushu and Continent of the Ninth. I can't see a single player game actually doing these unless that's literally all there is to the game and it's basically a Vampire the Masquerade-style game where you pick your concept at the start and it never deviates
>>744583161Yeah a game should really only pick one school to focus in. Or make so the MC be your typical Wuxia protags who end up pick up bits and pieces from difference school through their journey. Or make an RPG with party member who come from difference sects.
Lets make your character a pretty girl and if she loses she gets raped. Oh yeah and monsters
>>744583749Gachacucks could neverThey must self inseeeeeeeert as a twink
Too bad there's no voice acting here.
>>744583870Half of these games involve a voluntary loss of penis for questionable power gain
>games made in China>chinese land / region is the least inspiringEvery time.
>>744570168That's Xianxia. Gods dragons magic multiple universes etc. They are fun if you like power fantasy and aura farming main characters. Wuxia is more grounded martial arts stories. If you interested in trying one I recommend absolute regression the novel. It's peak.

>>744571102>>744573396>>744581487if the west has tolkien inspired medieval fantasy then wuxia/xianxia is eastern medieval fantasy
It's an okay quest I guess. Event scripting is still ass and awkward and Kuro hasn't improved since 1.0.

>>744571023it is pretty funny how often you see a 300 year old immortal get pissed off and murder someone over a minor insult. Like how do these fuckers think they're going to reach enlightenment when they have the emotional restraint of a middle schooler that's going through puberty?
>>744578797The closest you can get for that is Scroll of Taiwu with it layers deep of autism and the wuxia genre already has a proven formula, any wuxia rpg that comes from china copies from Tale of Wuxia since it's considered a masterpiece that set the standard.Even when they make a top wuxia list most of them are decent enough to have an EN fanTL, maybe you'll find something herehttps://youtu.be/LE08vQhphfI>>744581836Just play the single player spin off Wushu Chronicles before they update it later this year and ruin the existing en patch. Years have gone by and suddenly their updating it.
>>744591590Squabbles are actually expected at the peak of cultivation. You've gotta keep in mind that by that level, they have an established Dao Heart. Meaning their very cultivation becomes dependent on believing in themselves, their part, and that they're going in the right direction - conversely, proving someone's path is wrong can literally kill them, even if it usually only severely cripples their cultivation wrongBasically, cultivators past a certain point are complete fucking narcissists by design. Depending on the exact path/dao/way/beliefs they follow, being told 'no' can straight up give some of the heart demons which will fuck them. There's also a lot of bullshit with karma being established and needing to be resolved to go past a certain point in cultivation, and something as simple as not having an answer to a question can cause karmic ties. As a minor but relevant thing, 'most' cultivators past a certain level are not only geniuses among geniuses, but also born with silver spoons from being raised in mega clans; the people without ego are the true main characters and even those guys will pull entire universes up by the roots because someone called them cringetl;dr most Xianxias do a terrible job of making everyone not look like manchildren, but when you account for how they can literally die if they don't have the biggest dick in the room, it makes perfect sense that most of them will fight over dumbshit reasons

>>744570168I d9n't understand why the protagonist getting everything they ever wanted always leads to them irrationally hating everyone or being betrayed by everyone, only for them to reach the next plane of existence as a double immortal and do it all over again. Where all power is gained from meditating in a cave or eating a tiger claw or whatever.
