The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is extremely overrated and doesn’t compete with the Mario games
You could call me bias cause I was raised on Mario but I am 100% capable of appreciating retro games of all forms. Sonic the Hedgehog just never got me the same way as a Mario game. People compare Mario and Sonic like Coke and Pepsi. In my opinion Mario is definitely Coke, Sonic is definitely Pepsi, and Coke is definitely better than Pepsi. The best part about a sonic game is running as fast as you can to the right only to be hit by an enemy and all your rings go everywhere. Oh great now I have to grab rings or else I’m fucked. I guess it’s comparable to the mushroom in Mario but it’s just not the same man. I hate it. I really hate Sonic games. I’ve tried SOOOOOOO hard to like them because I didn’t grow up with a genesis and I always envied my friends that got to play sonic but when I got older I realized there just is no nostalgia there to blind me from all the annoyances in the game. I honestly liked the movie though. Definitely one of the better game to film adaptations.
