Is Hyper DBZ the only MUGEN/IKEMEN project that feels like a legitimate, well-balanced fighting game?
What are your favorite MUGEN/IKEMEN full games, screenpacks, or curated compilations.

Great spritework but there's way too many lolrandumb moments from the characters here. I understand one or two but like every character here has a reference to some other franchises or memes.

>MUGEN/IKEMEN project that feels like a legitimate, well-balanced fighting game?
are there any others that even attempt to be something other than a hodgepodge pack of characters created by other people tied down by fucked up universal mechanics?
the only ones off the top of my head are sega vs capcom (unreleased) and battle craze (gay and lame)

There's been shitloads of big name games made through self hosted game making programs like RPGMaker, but has there been a single project like that, that got commercialization, through MUGEN? Pretty sure it's known more for fangames and shitty retarded sprite edit movesets made by brazilians than anything original. Is it really that shitty of an engine or what?

>shitty
It's got really awesome characters, and a really awesome engine too.
Stop being butthurt.

There is The Black Heart, an old project that got an updated rerelease on Steam. It's still a pretty crusty looking game though, don't know if it's any good.

MUGEN/Ikemen GO is great for hobbyists who just want a vessel to stuff their favorite characters and slop mechanics into but trying to make an original game right now that doesn't feel like MUGEN would need an absurd amount of effort especially when you realize that nobody, not a single person in the world has ever thought to make a Fighter Factory substitute yet that actually has feature parity with fucking fighter maker 2k, which is why a lot of people would rather use FM2K or use Unity/Godot/Unreal engine to make an original fighter than to use Ikemen GO even after all the updates its had to modernize.
Hell, I'd say FM2K projects are just significantly more successful than anything put out with MUGEN because because of Vanguard Princess alone. You won't see the same amount of effort put into anything on Ikemen GO just because scalability and taking the MUGEN feeling out of it is a challenge all on its own.

So the engine IS hard to work with then? Or it's just really outdated and more of a novelty, basically only for poors to use?
>>
>>744575412
outdated and archaic is the main problem, yeah
you could definitely make a game out of Ikemen GO right now but you would be better off learning a real engine at this point since at least you will get skills that help you with other types of games and also not be burdened by some limitations that still exist for Ikemen GO and Fighter Factory. There are plenty of modules and stuff for other engines now to get started with that come with rollback netcode out the gate too.
>>
Shouldn't the MUGEN/IKEMEN/Whatever community set a power scale that can't be surpassed to keep things balanced? There should be a website that curates downloads for these things to attempt some balance between characters or edit the already existing ones.
>>
>>744575772
I see. That's unfortunate. I'm surprised someone hasn't made a fighting game equivalent to RPGMaker. Fighter Factory is kind of close but you just choose from the choices it gives you, and you can't make anything other than characters if I recall; no ways to implement music or make stages or arcade mode or anything.

Is there a single thing notable about Mugen other than salty bet and overpowered character zips made by insane people
>>
>>744577865
i'd hardly even call saltybet "notable" at this point, the community has whittled away into almost nothing but bots and the site itself hasn't received an update in over half a decade
>>
>>744580196
Well, they were popular when Best Friends was still active.
>>
>>744582071
yeah i know i just felt like bitching about how hard it fell from grace
i didn't even mention how they added integration with some dogshit shooter game that salty was working on, allowing people to just get free betting money and completely ruin the economy
>>
>>744573265
WHY THE FUCKING HELL IS NOBODY PAYING ATTENTION TO MY FUCKING THREAD?
>>
>>744586189
Fighting games are niche. Mugen is even more niche... I doubt many of the faggots on here even heard of Hyper DBZ, much less Mugen.
