why didn't they make another one? MDK2 was a big enough hit that it got several ports, even getting on the Wii of all things. both MDKs were fairly popular back in their days and would be easy nostalgia bait if they had modern ports. it just seems odd that they were just kind of forgotten despite being pretty good games, meanwhile nightdive remasters that piece of shit game based off The Thing. i just replayed the first one and shit stull rules. about as good as quake, but with long, linear stages and gimmicks peppered in for good measure.it just feels bad that MDK is kind of forgotten.
also, let it be known that this is the coolest fucking logo ever designed for a video game
one of the rare times when a console dev's experience translated to PC game design perfectly.
>>744582749Maybe the IP got tangled early so it got forgotten fast.I only played the sequel I remember liking the gameplay.
>>744582749>weird faggy BDSM game with tight leather and a mans ass cheekshmm i wonder
>>744582952>how should we name our game?>idk murder death kill
I remember every magazine tried to make a big deal out of it but I've always felt it was too wacky
>>744582749I remember having fond memories of playing both MDK and MDK2 yet I never felt like replaying any of them.
>>744582749Interplay was on the verge of bankruptcy at the time. They barely had enough resources to demand one of their studios to develop a sequel. It still baffles me they're still around.
>>7445827491 is a masterpiece but the visuals rely heavily on untextured surfaces and i don't think any modern remaster would do it justiceas for 2 idk, couldn't force myself through the first dr. hawkins stage and i'm kinda glad they never followed up on that>>744582952promo material was equally dope
>>744589974That's all I got from this game's cover art as well as a kid. That and that it was campy like Giants or Conker's
>>744590315I always thought it was named after the characters>max>doctor >kurt
>you just saved Earth from an alien invasion>here's a french music video as a rewardAlso I found out there's a colored version of it.https://youtu.be/ISFXmukrQO4?si=4YOg_YcveEO4l0In
>>744590832Imagine calling your kid Doctor and he stops at bachelor degree. That would be so embarrassing.
>>744589974ThisDoesn't matter how good the game is (apparently it was) or how heavily it was marketed (a LOT), it still had very gimpy vibes
Wouldn't a gun on your face completely fuck up your hearing and your spine?
I really didnt like MDK1 on PS1. Just too experimental and third person shooters didnt age well on PS1 hardware. Will have to emulate MDK2 some day on PCSX2.
This is the kind of game that should be being decompiled but instead we get endless N64 games. Glorpy Blorp 64 got decompiled!!! Why the fuck doesn't anyone do PS1 decomps?
>>744592693ps1 emulation is good enough you dont need decomps. n64 emulation is hot garbage
>>744592693Use case of a decomp for a game with a PC port?
>>744592693>>744593258>portthe pc version is the original release guysthe only thing the ps1 port has over it is the extended soundtrack, and you can mod it into the pc version now
>>744582749I want game just like MDK1. MDK2 was fine but other playable character and playstyles are unnecessary
>>744582749>>744582952My dude caked up. Were the devs zesty?
>>744582749>someone on /v/ remember this seriesthis board is ok sometimesYes they should have made a 3rd one so long ago, sadly you saw how Bioware turned out + nobody makes dumb fun games like this anymore.
>>744592096Nobody was an insecure faggot like you back then. Most male character design in games and comics featured man butts in skintight suits.
>>744593258Did you TRY playing the pc version on a modern pc recently? It's trash. I agree with the other anon, I'd love to see a decomp of this with everything fixed for modern PC, 60 fps +, etc
Even MDK2 need a recomp. the HD edition exist but again the last time I've tried it didn't go very well.>>744592572avoid playing these on a controller, seriously.
>>744582749Whoa holy shit this is another long-forgotten game I saw as a kid once and never learned the name of. Thanks OP, that's another one crossed off the list.
>>744582749Wait a minute, so THAT'S where I saw the Martyr's helmet before. Damn, citadeldev knows ball, nothing but cool picks in his influences.
