It's not obsessing over a particular person, it's addressing the comments they made that generated a lot of backlash at the time. It seems like the Japanese game industry themselves have realised that adding excessive handholding and railroading is not a desirable thing. Using Zelda as an example, the difference between Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild is night and day.
