It is a pretty sad moment. The entire game of elden ring is people telling you to pal up with them so they can help control you while having all the late game lore being about how you shouldn't let others control you and you should find your own way in life. Then you encounter the demi-god that wanted to do his own thing his own way and he's mind controlled by his brother that is terrible in all aspects.
