I watched 2 reviews of this game recently to see if it was worth picking up. One of them dived into how the story is severely lacking in agency and characterization, while the gameplay is your basic Far Cry looter shooter with a skill tree that gives you +5% shotgun damage on Wednesdays.The other review was some basedboy constantly being dazzled by the graphics and saying "I have no idea what is happening" every 30 seconds. When he saw the skill tree, he falsely deduced that the game had infinite depth and customization then never mentioned the gameplay again. He based his ending choice on "I don't know, I just did whatever" then claimed the game had the most immersive story ever.
I replayed it last month and it was even more KINO than I remember. I modded it so Enemies stop being sponges at the highest difficulty and shootsn' feels good one-shot headshottingYou genuinely are a subhuman of you don't get it. It's one of the best games ever made, the best iteration of a city in gaming ever ,there is a reason it has like 100k people daily playing it 6 years later. Simply timeless kino.

The problem with this game is that it's mechanically too shallow and because of this it's repetetive. It's the same thing as with GTA/RDR: all you're doing is driving and shooting. Except in Cyberpunk2077 you can also do some sneeki-breeki.But the game is good at V I B E S, I must admit. Just drive around NC at night, when it rains, and you'll get it.

Lots of "skill checks" throughout the game that can be very satisfying, but I'd say about 60% are non-consequential flavour ie unlocking something to say because of your selected lifepath.>Combat good?Yes, it's fun. On anything other than hard or very hard it can be extremely easy depending on your build. >Cyberware/Character customisation?Cyberware is cool but not super fleshed out; you can get different stuff that slows time/lets you double jump/turns your arms into guns etc but it acts mostly as a loadout. For every example of something the game does exceptionally well, there are two-three massive problems with it, examples of mind boggling shit that I can’t believe CPDR fucked up or got wrong. It had the potential to be one of the greatest games ever created and the devs totally shit the bed. The game is a mile wide and 2 inches deep and to fix it nearly the entire thing would need to be rebuilt from the ground up. Despite the combat feeling sort of clunky, it grew on me and started feeling fun once I could jump and strafe around with the skills. I think one of the biggest missed opportunities of this game is the lack of vertical access in the open world, and the lack of large enemy territories with desirable rewards. I was exploring the rooftops and buildings out of bounds, and the game could be so much more if they used another 5 years and 100 million dollars. Also WHY would you suddenly build invisible walls on the buildings half way there, intentionally stopping the few people who even got to those areas to climb them, i fucking hate developers sometimes.
