Nintendo and Sega had laid the foundation, nibbling at the periphery of normie consumer culture. It was then easy for Sony to walk in and undercut them with $15 disc games. They also stole Nintendo and Sega’s third party support this way. And while Sony didn’t know anything about gaming, neither did the normalfaggots that bought their consoles. For all they knew, loading times for pause menus and fmv WERE the gameplay. Thankfully the industry seems to be healing now but we still need an actual Sega-like competitor for Nintendo to keep things moving.
