I skipped class to buy GTAIV on launch solely because of G4 hyping it up. I hated it. Not only did I hate it, but I got in deep shit for skipping that specific class. I pledged to never buy into TV hype again.A few years later, Total Biscuit absolutely fucking glazed Civilization: Beyond Earth. I bought it at full price on launch. It fucking sucked. I regretted it so bad. From that moment on, I pledged to never buy into any form of hype at all.I haven't bought a single game recommended to me since. I only buy games I develop a grass roots feeling of wanting to play.

DA:O already perfected it for CRPGs decades ago: why the fuck am I not able to control characters directly over-the-shoulder them seamlessly switch to top-down in the big 2020s? Second problem were how unreactive other characters were in conversations/cutscenes. There's one early on where you can stamp a mindflayer to death, and your companions just look on, vacant and gormless. It's amateurish. No idea if they managed to improve it all later on as I've never got much further than that, but since I've heard it's at its best at the start, I can only imagine it gets worse.
