If you're a dumb cult follower, buy the $1500 Steam Frame junk. Overpriced junk just like the Valve Index VR.

Pic related is a Quest 3 at Walmart Canada and the price is in Canadian dollars. Comes down to about $241 USD after conversion. I honestly have no clue how someone could even entertain the idea of getting a Steam Frame. Haven't you guys learned from the Valve Index back when Alyx came out? It was an overly expensive shit item that cost way more that the competition without delivering way more than the competition.
>>
It's a great deal if you pirate every game and also steal the Steam Frame from a Best Buy.

Standalone VR needs to die.

Valve will likely sell it for $1000. $1200 if they want a bigger profit margin to help set off the losses from the Steam Machine.

>>
>>744595339
They'll still have to sell at current market value, and that value is skyrocketing in September according to Qualcomm, plus you need to factor in the memory crisis which will affect its pricepoint also. Remember, people believed the Steam Machine was going to be around 700-800 dollars before prices got fucked, and Valve initially teased a price just shy of $1000 for the Frame when it was first revealed. There's no way it'll be any less than $1200, so $1500 is a reasonable estimate in the current market. They will not sell them at a loss.

The worst thing about this thing costing a huge premium price now is that the screens are still ultra cheap ass bullshit.
If it's already past 1000 who cares if it costs 500 more for OLED screens at that point. But nah, we get washed out, light grey LED garbage after paying an arm and a leg.
Stupid. Rest of the tech is really nice, just can't understand the screen decision at all.

Nothing to be done. Gabe and the other Valve heads need their 500,000,000 million dollar super yachts each. There's just no wiggle room here to invest in the future with a slight loss leader, nah we're just forced to watch as our cool new technology gets rejected on price and then vanishes forever. Just sadly no other way that includes more super yachts right now.

>Both use the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip and 8GB of RAM for identical app performance and load times.
>Both feature dual 4MP RGB color passthrough cameras for seeing your real room.
>Both use the same Meta Touch Plus controllers.

Only the lenses are different. And from what I've read, it's not a huge difference. The main difference is you don't have to move the headset to find the viewing angle. If it's your first headset absolutely go for the 3S.
>>
>>744594385

>>
>>744595274
>just add 2 more kilos to your headset
So you understand, if you aren't trolling. You complained of too much weight on your face. That is because the headset is front heavy. Having a battery on the back helps with that weight. Furthermore having a halo strap where lots of the weight now goes on the top of your head is even better. It solves your problem.

The point is that on pancake lenses (Q3, Frame) you can look anywhere just by moving your eyes.
On the older fresnel lenses (Q3S, Index) you only have a small sweet spot that you have to stare and look around by turning your whole head.
>>
>>744595476
Custom prescriptions lenses are like $45 on Zenni. Or you can just wear contacts
>>
>>744595476
If it's truly gotten worse, then you need new lenses.
If not, which is likely (it stops at some point), then even better.
>>
The steamframe is comparable in hardware to the quest 3 with the big difference that the frame has eye tracking.
>same cpu&gpu&same amount of ram&battery size is comparable, etc....
And the quest 3 is "cheap" as fuck compared to other VR sets.
If valve releases this headset for more then 700 eurodollars, then they can shove it up gabens ass.

I've tried it just because people always boast about it online. Yes, you won't ever watch normal porn after it. You can sort of enjoy the beauty of the "3D" face of the person and feel their presence. Also, you don't feel as drained afterwards because it feels like you've just had sex with a real beautiful girl (which sort of energizes you in a way). You just need to find the videos with the good-looking girls, because a lot of them look like crackhead whores, which kind of defeats the purpose of VR and its ability to let you enjoy the aesthetics of good-looking women. But this being said, I think you should just do no-fap, or perhaps use the VR porn to increase your testosterone levels without ejaculating.

>In line with the challenge hypothesis, this study investigated the effects of the presence of a woman on the testosterone (T) levels of young men. An informal contact with a woman of approximately 5 min resulted in an increase in salivary T among men.

VR porn (doesn't even have to be the fucking part, just the flirting at the beginning of the video is enough) makes you feel like you're really there. It makes you feel like you're right next to that girl. And this alone increases testosterone.

It's exactly like you're in the game except you can't really control your body very well, it feels like you're wearing scuba goggles that cut off your peripheral vision, and if you have low resolution then things are blurry. Even with those caveats it's very cool to experience and I use it every chance I get.

>>744596927
>The main difference is you don't have to move the headset to find the viewing angle.
That's a huge difference. Fresnel lenses are also bulky, which means the weight of the headset will be further away from your face, which mean worse leverages. Combine that with the constant need to move your head, and it's no wonder people are constantly complaining about the comfort. Even a third party headstrap won't fix this.
>>

It should theoretically be better in every way. The only things I am worried about are the audio and quality of the wireless streaming as opposed to the DisplayPort connection of the Index. That's why I don't buy the whole "omg it is sold out therefore it must be amazing!" It's due to them probably making like 1000 controllers, sold out in an instant because of it and now it has this "wait list" to make it seem more popular than it really is. Same with the shitty steam machine that "isn't a PC and isn't a console" so I will assume the frame will have like 2000 units available to but at the massive price tag it will be due to valve saying they were not selling at a loss and the back orders will be till q2 2027 or something. Like usual everything is fake and gay, just like the only "game" people play on this, vr chat.

It does tho, you get 170ppi on a 4k 27" monitor. You would need 8k res to get the same ppi on a 50" screen, and you can't get that same ppi on a 120" screen unless you get one of those expensive modular screens, but there's no media that would benefit from it. I personally go even further and I use a 17" 4k (270 ppi) monitor as my main entertainment monitor, gaming and movie watching is great and reading manga, comics or books is glorious.

That's dumb though, the screen is "bigger" but the resolution is lower because the virtual screen isn't using the entire display. You could just sit close to your TV and get the same effect.

If you get motion sickness you're just a weak faggot. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

The connectivity with the PC sucks though, and they're pretty cheaply made. I had to return my first one because the wire that plugs into the headset was partially broken, and sometimes retracting the headset towards my face would cause it to disconnect.
And other times, it just randomly would not want to work with SteamVR. The amount of times I had to uninstall the PSVR2 program and reinstall it and do the setup all over was asinine. Hell, sometimes it would make me do the first time/room setup out of nowhere just for fun.
