Todd fell for the accessibility/mass market meme. There's nothing to improve on with Starfield because it's supposed to be incredibly sterile and shallow so that anyone and everyone can play it without being confused/offended.
The problem being that, while everyone is ABLE to play Starfield, nobody WANTS to play Starfield since it's so boring, mundane and safe.
