The famous creator of a flight simulator, Scott Manley, has responded affirmatively to claims of AI usage, saying: "I've been coding since 1982... OF COURSE I USED AI CODE TOOLS"

This has sparked discussion among other game developers, who themselves admit that it is no longer possible to deny AI tools' usefulness for game dev.

AI working for everyone is not remotely the same thing as communism. Under communism, the government hands you a piece of paper and says, "Work in this gulag for the next 30 years." and you receive a paltry allowance while the party apparatchiks get rich doing nothing. Under AI, your personal AI deposits $4mil to your account every month while you sit at home playing video games.

No one cares about using AI to code. No one wants to spend like 3 days figuring a function, you just ask to get it done to a good model. Its literally the same as stealing open source code from github. What people care is the "art" portion of games, like the assets (textures, dialogue, music, etc.), not the wheels and cogs that are behind the curtain. That shit has been automated as much as possible since day one. No one refuses to buy a car because its made in an assembly line instead of made by hand. What people care is the design, not how its assembled.

>What people care is the "art" portion of games, like the assets (textures, dialogue, music, etc.), not the wheels and cogs that are behind the curtain.
I wouldn't be so sure of this statement, I've seen a clearer divide, there are people that don't care about the art portion but do care about the code portion and there are those that are like in your example and there are those who don't care at all or only about some specific thing.

Personally I fall into the category of only caring about AI used in text when the text is meant to be sold as narrative content (ie not boilerplate messages or official statements). I don't care if art assets are AI generated and I only very slightly care if the code is AI generated and that care only extends towards wanting the person who made it to have at least a moderate-level of understanding of what they're doing.

it is pretty stupid to shun helpful coding technology, like AI, as like a lot of things in our life, it makes it easier and less time consuming, like the warsher machine for example.

however, the way that company's went about trying to promote their AI bots was so bad that the mass has been confused about whether it's a complete product ready to be used for most task with the least amount of errors, or if it's still in alpha/beta, which it very clearly is.

and i believe for our society, it would be better if we removed the art generation part from AI, as it really serves no purpose.
like nobody can make a case for its use.

There is a really obvious divide between 130+IQ people and dumb people on the subject of AI. Everyone I know who's in the genius range loves AI and uses it daily, every retard I know is a "Oh... oh wow... my favorite autism comfort-game developer used AI... that's... that's just not OK..." autist who thinks AI is using up all the planet's water and genociding minorities.

What's crazy is, the anti-AI people are willingly missing out on the biggest wealth-equalizing tool in the history of the world. The divide between rich and poor has always been chiefly decided by one thing: intelligence. Now there is a tool which equalizes intelligence. Literal simpletons can use AI to make whatever they can envision. But they have willfully chosen to forbid themselves from using AI. It's like if, in the 1400s, all of the peasants were given the ability to read & write, but they said: "No! Reading and writing is immoral - we'll NEVER do it! Only aristocrats should do that!"

I'm fine with it. It's eugenic - I hope they continue on this path. At this rate it appears that people with lower intelligence will become completely destitute due to their refusal to use AI, lose all political power and the right to reproduce, then the world will just be smart humans and smart AI living in harmony. Sounds like utopia to me.

All communist systems force everyone who isn't high ranking in the party into government-mandated work roles with hours that'll make people wish for capitalist crunch-time of today.

AI is bad for the consumer but good for the companies. That is it. There is no argument past that. Corporations are pro AI and they make all the products so they will force you to use AI or to have AI-made stuff but no one actively chooses to go out and buy AI made products. We all know they're worse. Games that advertise as using AI on Steam sell significantly less. There is no arguing that. It is not a debate, a discussion, or a negotiation. The consumer is telling you they don't want AI, however the consumer ultimately has 0 power. Once Capcom admits to using AI for coding and art assets it is actually over for any anti-ai argument because people will not stop buying their games.

Basically the Pro AI vs Anti AI battle is only going on right now because consumers do have a choice. Once the corporations tell them that every AAA game is using it and most AA games then it is either quit vidya or accept AI.

How will a coder find work if an AI can do it cheaper, how will an artist, a writer, a middle manager, a call center, an office worker etc. find work if an AI can do it? If your answer is 'do hard labor and get UBI' then congrats, your solution is Communism or Feudalism.

It'll be fine, though you're right about there being more people and less jobs, there'll be new jobs to be filled and new things for middle class pseuds to study and yearn for just like every other time new technology changed the landscape.

nobody who actually creates things thinks AI is good. anyone you see praising it lacks any creative skill. scott manly was just a programmer, same is true with notch, john carmack. every one of them. you will never see an artist praise AI.
the whole process of art involves training your ability of perception. and it's that perception that allows you to differentiate between what is soulful and soulless.
those who praise AI only think "cool! easy money!", they don't stop to think "hm, what will the resulting product look if we do this instead of using actual creative talent?". they don't even take a second to consider the fact that what they'll end up producing will be slop, because they cannot even perceive that. even a lot of consumers can perceive it, it's why many people who aren't even artists don't like AI. but those who are at the top making decisions only think in terms of money, how to make it quickly, and how to spend less. they give zero consideration to the creative process they are supposed to be managing. it's why a lot of the games industry just produces absolute trash, it is clueless investors who are influencing the decisions, and all their decisions are driven by the prime motive of making money.

>it is no longer possible to deny AI tools' usefulness for game dev.
It is useful, but it fosters lazy solutions, causing less qualified people who will do it for cheaper to replace more talented people in the creative process. That replacement inevitably results in lower quality games. See UE5 slop and all the AAA games that outsource everything to jeets and as a result run like shit while looking worse than games from 10 years ago.
I can guarantee you without the shadow of a doubt that AI will not be used to make better games, its usage will result in the opposite.

What performative nonsense.
Ai can do tons of heavy lifting when it comes to coding etc. You stil have to check shit, but even then its still much faster. Nobody gives a fuck if your physics are done with ai code.
But art, yeah people hate ai for it and rightfully so, but again, artist can use ai to create fast rough drafts before sinking hours into something that didnt work to begin with.

Its the lazy use of ai, thats what you should be mad about.
See it as when steam opened the flood gates for absolute garbage, but when some kind of small indie darling gets on there, suddenly those open gates are fine.

Its a tool, its how its used. Non creative people will think they can finally make shit, but they still make garbage, so they will stop after its painfully clear its not working, but ai as a tool is really close to another internet jump

There is a new cafe by my house that opened up and their little menu has horrible AI art (pic related, took it myself) which I also found odd because their site and google page has real pictures of the food they made themselves.

Either way I posted this in a group with some artists I met at a con and they pretty much told me to burn the place down and wanted to know the location so they can review bomb the place. It's literally some stupid little cafe owned by a mother/daughter team who are both Palestinian. They aren't some big business Trump suckers or jeets.

None of the artists in that group I would consider good either. I would describe all their art as a cheap novelty at best, and most of them I found out are furry artists so it also answers why their art look like they hit a very low and hard competency level.

This is the trend I've noticed where it's a lot of very retarded and lazy people who are an actual net drain on this earth in every aspect getting upset that jobs they wouldn't be hired for anyways are using AI.

It is admittedly useful for learning and making code. And is probably better for functional outsourcing than subhuman indians, but there are definitely costs to the technology.

It has. I forked the Rimworld mod RandomPlus. The base mod can generate maybe a few tens of pawns a second (hard to tell because it has no roll counter). My fork can generate currently 19 millions a second, and that's on my cpu. It's multithreaded so in theory it can be much higher.

I got into the IT industry for the love of the game, not for the money. That means I'll spend my work week actually writing code as much as I can. I don't give a shit if that makes all my jira tickets move 10 times slower across the kanban, it makes my 8 hours of work way more fun. It also pleases me when I can, with human ingenuity, come up with a solution that slightly edges out the way AI classically would approach the problem.

I use AI in very challenging spots as an escape hatch or when official documentation is insanely complex or just bad in general (cloudshit in general loves having awful docs) but I'm steering the ship as much as I can. I feel myself becoming dumber the more I ask AI, and if I just spend all day prompting then it'd completely suck the fun out of the job. I just really like the craft, and I feel it's like a moral failing to my core when I pull up the chatgpt window. I also strongly judge people that love AI, I don't think they have any soul. I'm not trans btw.

CCTV isn't being put in every single city in America by a private company. A company that has explicitly stated on their website they want to use it to help track criminals, but not use it to help ICE enforce immigration law.

CCTV also isn't being shilled as this super effective law enforcement mechanism. The Republican-led government literally has the names and addresses of violent migrant criminals, and they still can't deport them fast enough to meet their goals, but they still insist that Flock is going to make that so much easier somehow.

The same demographic that would hunt you down and kill you for talking about Epstein before 2021 is now insisting that objecting to mass surveillance and the construction of massive AI complexes is tranny-coded. Please start noticing things.

You are only interested in AI when YOU have control of the AI-- rightfully so.
There's absolutely zero reason for you to ever purchase or consume AI content made by anyone else, if the ability to make it yourself is possible.

So on that premise alone, why would anyone purchase an AI book or anything, if there exists a service they can use to make it themselves? The only way any of this stuff works right now, is through omission.

Humanity finds itself in the singularity: the advent of highly scalable silicon based general intelligence toppling everything and possibly enabling all kinds of grave things like eternal youth, android demi-gods, techno tyranny or utopia, total human disenfranchisement and extinction, telepathy, resurrection of dead people, interstellar travel and maybe even the ability to move outside of this universe. Questions like high electricity bills, noisy datacenters and the death of personal computing and the exclusivity of human creativity & prowess do matter but I look at all these angry shit flinging discussions about "AI slop" online and can't believe it. Doesn't this moment in time far outclass the splitting of the atom? You'll notice that programmers who support AI are either the ones with decades of experience, or the ones fresh out of a Code Boot Camp.

The experienced guys know exactly what they're looking for and can pick out the mistakes and bad choices the LLM makes at a glance, and just delete and replace them in a few seconds. They believe everybody can do this. And they're also not terribly worried about efficiency. They know computers are so much more powerful than when they started out that it's not worth it to care about the small stuff. They'll produce decent code with it that's still not nearly as good as they would have done on their own. But they don't care. It saved them time and made something "good enough" to live with.

The guys who are just starting out, they just accept whatever garbage the LLM spits out for them, even if it's horribly inefficient, hacky, or breaks if used in the wrong way. If some problem comes up, they'll just have the LLM remedy its own work.

But the guys in the middle? The ones trying to do things the right way? If they try to use an LLM, it'll produce nonsense that looks good on the surface, but doesn't work the way it says it does. It's impossible to debug or maintain unless you have decades of experience and intuition, that you can't get anymore because all the old guys aren't passing down their wisdom, and everybody else is being laid off to be replaced by H-1B recipients driving LLMs.

It also doesn't help that everything is a fucking web app packed in a disguised version of Chrome now, all the worst practices of web development are making regular software worse, too.

I think you are confusing two different things
100% ai controlled books? single prompt, "chatgpt make me a book"? i dont care. id rather prompt my own

...but i dont think ai will ever be that good/the outputs of single prompt efforts will be good. to get the best results out of ai you constantly have to hold its hand and tardwrangle it. it can write a few pages at once before it starts going off on tangents you dislike or making up characters you dont want in your story. theres still human imagination and input in ai assisted writing and thats still worth paying for

You niggers have the Time Variance Authority in Chattanooga? First they go after Deadpool and now this?

>but i dont think ai will ever be that good
Thing is, it WILL be that good.
Right now, AI is being trained to correct it's own output, using training data from employees, camera, data-collection, etc, etc. In coding for example, Meta records employee keystrokes and mouse movements so employees replace themselves.

I didn't think image generation was going to get past the google doghead things, and now I can generate shit that looks 95% real on z-image locally.

It's only a matter of time before a tardwrangler isn't needed at all, and when we get to that point those models will not be available for peons. And if it is, it will be so gimped and personalized-ad ridden, you'll barely want to touch it.
>>
>>744601015
AI code is actually very useful. The problem is idiots and prompters think they’re programmers now. Management can’t tell the difference between a programmer who can tailor the AI code properly and a pajeet that makes it “just werk” while wasting significantly more resources, and not clamping down on edge cases that actual programmers will have to fix.

> looks good on the surface
This is what separates the guys who have done it long enough vs coding bootcampers. Build test cases and find out. Old hats know how to test the work properly, while bootcampers commit before doing any eyeball testing.
The whole "it looks good on the surface but doesn't work" was last year's argument against coding agents. It's August 2026; most of them do a good enough job and even know how to build their own test cases. But don't let that fool you; they can still make mistakes. But so is the jeet on your team.
The rate at which human slop looks worse than AI slop is accelerating. By the end of this year, the whole "surface quality of AI coding work" will be mostly a meme.
>>
>>744601181
AI is a lot like nuclear energy. There are use cases by professionals who know what they're doing, but if you allow it for any talentless faggot, you pretty much have a tool that is only good at allowing idiots to enshittify everything and spread radiation and destroy everything.

Now we see shit ai art everywhere, even on artist spaces and google search. I want to look up game templates to learn more code, but I can't tell if its been polluted by a jeet disguising himself and deepfaking his voice as a professional from the US. The only way to fix this is to segregate all ai content and only allow professionals the ability to use AI so that they can tell it's not outputting bullshit garbage code.
>>

That isn't quite true. Reliability of major services is in the shitter, businesses are scaling back their AI spending, and improvements in the quality of work AI models produce have been coming at a completely unsustainable cost, especially in the face of the first two problems.

The truth is that most of the improvements in AI over the last two years have been on the back of nearly 100% of our global production capacity for hardware being sequestered for AI purposes. Model sizes increased by orders of magnitude to get where we are right now, at an immense cost, crippling the consumer goods market and driving up the cost of consumer electronics so much that they're giving people less than they got five years ago for the same price.

The market is irrational. This will never result in AGI. And the fact that the people behind it are selling it to you on that premise should worry you very deeply. Either they're willfully lying to puff up the numbers before they bail out, or they're completely delusional and living in a bubble at the same time as they're dragging entire economies around by the balls. Both would result in a huge readjustment once the reality becomes impossible to ignore.

IQ in bio scifi crypto wankers who seek immortality, because they can't breed and even if they could, they know their child would resent them. If they can't personally be worshiped and prolonged forever, then they'll help create something that will one day erase everyone else's bloodline, replacing humanity with something as cold and unfeeling as themself.

Honestly

I was confused why people were upset at AI usage in coding and stuff. If you use a compiler or any form of encryption you're essentially using another machine within a machine to do work you could do manually if you have the skillset for it. You'll probably spend days or weeks doing both manually but at least you are less reliant on programs.

Having worked in cybersecurity for 3 years now I went from not giving a shit about AI to at least semi thankful for it because it helps most of us in this industry cut the fat from meat in certain situations like SIEM which already does a great job at figuring out problems.

I can only imagine how developers feel using AI to essentially copy and paste code which alone can take hours to do for something as simple as walking a straight line without the physics breaking.

I'm anti-datacenter due to placement, design, and overall development. They're gigantic unitask systems plugged into random urban zones built on and maintained by foreign labor in small number. A gigantic building that hosts a metric fuckton of servers should have 2 out of these 3:
>Loads of opportunity for employment by actual domestic workers
>Not be in a disruptive location that could be used for multiple infrastructural systems (Including nuclear power)
>Serve functions beyond aggregating and holding people's Amazon purchases and reference material for Claude's porn novels. They're buildings that move yottabytes of data, localized tech hubs would be significantly uplifting in places without niggers.
Without at least 2 of those at any given moment, they're just eyesores that facilitate H1Bs and displace everything else.

You could make the same argument that some patreon "artist" with their tablet, undo button, and rendering software isn't a "real" artist because they can't sculpt clay or mix paints. This is not a new argument and the entire thing is sour grapes. Someone claiming that a prompting and AI training/lora using person can't be an artist makes as much sense as a paintbrush user claiming that the tablet user who selects their color from a hex code can't be one either; its just sour grapes about tools all the way down or fears of being outmoded by people who have an easier time with it (which is never admitted).

Of course, just the way that there is still interest in hand painted artworked or blacksmithed metalwork continues, but those are no longer the ONLY way that you can get a picture or make something out of metal, which is a benefit for many reasons. Same is true for AI or anything else (the previous spergout about CGI which is what all the faggots using tablets, 2D or 3D art programs etc.. used to be called etc)

You didn't read what I posted and spout actual nonsense. When the fuck did I say anything about standard data centers? Those aren't the problem, data centers specifically being used to push more AI slop is the problem because they use exponentially more resources than running websites do while having no facility design to be energy efficient at minimum and not waste local resources and make peoples lives worse.

No, it's just true.

No, again, that's just moronic.
The artist is using tools to directly make art. It's the execution that matters. You are asking the computer to do the execution for you.
You'd have a better argument with using photoshop filters and effects or whatever.
Asking AI to create art for you does not and cannot make you an artist. Sorry.

Wrong. You have exactly zero idea how people are using AI as part of their creative process. He was exactly right about you. Why are the most ignorant people always the loudest?
>>
>>744621053
You're splitting hairs. What "directly using the tools" means varies immensely. To some, digital tools are just as devoid of the direct physical brush/clay etc..in hand method and abstracted so that the "computer is doing the work". Mixing paints by hand is a completely fucking different skillset of its own to get the color you want, rather than putting in hex codes to pick exactly what you want with easily available previews of everything close to it. There are a great many digital artists that would literally not be able to create if just that color picking tech was not available to them, much less other features like layers, copy/paste, brush shapes or "draw and exact square/circle etc" etc.

To you its "asking the computer/tool" to do it, but to someone that feels that stretching canvas or hand blending colors on a pallet is essential to making art, they see the tablet user as "asking the computer/tool" to do that critical part and therefore 'not art". AI is just another tool, the creative work is using whatever tool it may be to get whatever idea out of your head into some other form. Hell, long before AI you could use Basic or LOGO programming to make a little drawing that has no resemblance to making art with your hands - your coding in coordinates of where to put various lines, but you can create a picture that way, few would say it doesn't count because you used a computer to do it. Same thing with AI - the model, the training, the prompting are just the tools being used in this regard.

I've never done anything like that. Who are you talking about? I've always been of the opinion that many people have great ideas even if they weren't artists and I've always liked things that democratize artistic endeavors because it enables more good ideas to come into existence.

>>

>Wrong
Walk me through your process. What exactly are you executing?
>>
>>744621524
>You're splitting hairs.
Nope!
No matter how badly you want to, you can't get past the reality that prompting involves no execution. Elaborate, multi-paragraph copes do nothing for you. You are not interacting with the canvas at any stage.
>>
>>744621730
For absolute starters since this seems to be beyond the imagination of so many, you don't just prompt some shit then publish it. Imagine that, you can actually edit the things on your computer. But I imagine filetypes and folders are beyond your understanding, so...

Communism does not exist because communists don't exist, otherwise we would have a shitload of communes.
Now socialism (the thing you actually defend) is basically turning the government into the only corporation. it's basically the failure mode of capitalism, but with an army and police force.
It's megadisney with guns.
Capitalism (when it works) it's because there's a shitload of competition and they're all fighting using products. It's like getting the t-rexes to fight each other instead of trying to eat you.
Socialism is making a mega-Trex and believing it will be good because it is waving your flag.

Freehand tards are retarded, you do need a government stopping anyone from becoming a monopoly, but a troll government, not one that is also a t-rex.

>>744621857
>not interacting with the canvas
Shit you just took a dump on your own argument. Neither is someone using a tablet. If your stipulation for "making art" is "putting paintbrush to canvas" and everything else is abstraction, computer doing it for you, that's as much true in that situation. You can't have it both ways.

Its only contingent on what you think is an acceptable level of tool usage that does not "spoil" the "artistic" aspect, and you placing your comfort at B does not mean that either the guy who puts it at A, or one at C is necessarily any more justified. You're just looking down on a tool you consider too abstract, the same way as others look down on you for using a tool they consider too abstract and lacking the SOVL of the AR-TEEST. Same turtles all the way down.
>>
>>744622020
True communists have never been tried, on your pic is a socialist daddy goverment gibe me things with a cool shirt.
First thing a communist would do would to acquire a terrain and make a commune there,
A man that would study everything he needs to get the shit as self sufficient as possible as quick as possible, then do it.
If you truly believe that it is the way, you wouln't waste your time living in an inferior system.
>>
>>744621680
>I've never done anything like that. Who are you talking about?
There's endless seethe about artists in these threads. If you haven't done it you're the exception.
>I find things like this great.
That's hilarious and I do think it makes a great meme, but it doesn't make the creator an artist.
>>
>>744621863
>you can actually edit the things on your computer
If you are editing it directly, that's some contribution at least. The editing part has artistic value, the generation part doesn't.
Is that all you've got? Is this the grand process that I didn't understand?
>>
>>744621863
>you don't just prompt some shit then publish it.
Technically that's wrong. The issue here is that we have very shitty language for all this because "prompting" can be a very basic thing such as typing some random words and getting a picture to post but it's also a very time consuming and intricate process with thousands of extensions, dozens of front-ends, millions of models, and zillions of combinations of all these things.

Detractors will just imagine you're typing stuff and getting random outputs but even the laziest people will have spent countless hours figuring out what to type, how to type it, and how to work with the tools he has so that the "prompt" even slightly does what he wants it to do. Then there's post.

>>744622193
That person is irrefutably an artist with over 20k followers. Don't be retarded. And you just seem like a schizo making stuff up, or confusing 4channelers making fun of blue haired "artists" as seething about artists as a whole. It's a bit of projection.

>>744622107
>Shit you just took a dump on your own argument. Neither is someone using a tablet.
Digital canvases exist. Nice try at a gotcha, but you're just making yourself sound more retarded with each post.

What you directly contribute to a canvas is art. What you ask a computer to contribute to a canvas is not.

Followers don't mean shit. Not an artist. Maybe we can call him an influencer kek
>or confusing 4channelers making fun of blue haired "artists" as seething about artists as a whole
No, there's been a lot of genuine seethe from anons who are apparently furious about their own inability to pick up a pencil and learn.
>>
>>744622413
So really, ranting about art being "gatekept" was just nonsense and you don't believe in it being democratized, you just want to be the new "elite", as laughable as that is.
