I miss the world we had back then. Youngsters today could never understand.

Every person in this image trooned out

Boomers had Usenet and BBS and they threw that away to chase trends and pull up the ladder.
Gen X had the dotcom boom and they straight up allowed half of the Internet to be deleted since then.
Millennials grew up with every cool forum imaginable and destroyed it so they could hole up in walled gardens.
Zoomers got fucked over by everyone else and it's foolish to pretend otherwise.

Just because you regret your gender reassignment surgery doesn't mean you have to project it onto others

Sure thing zoom zoom. Why don't you go back to clearing entire screens with 99999k damage nukes?

i still have nightmares about that night

Zoomers just don't have the patience for MMOs which is why the genre will eventually die in the next decade. Zoomers aren't the ones getting excited for Maplestory Classic or whatever other once popular MMO that tries to recapture the glory days. New MMOs can hardly even be called MMOs because they're made with solo play in mind for a lot of the content. The only MMO aspect of it is just seeing dozens of players in a zone on your screen and there's a chat box.

I love how the first post exemplifies exactly what OP is talking about. It's exhausting dealing with underage tourists on here these days.

Trickster was better than Ragnarok and I'm tired of pretending it's not

Nostalgia will be the death of me. Every day I try to change my life to recapture living in the past. If only it were that simple to just buy stuff that reminded you of your life back then. Those old wooden computer desks, older computer, a CRT tv. You're just playing old games and watching old moves and tv shows. Do it to the point where your environment and lifestyle is virtually indistinguishable from the 2000s and you might actually feel something, a good feeling. Then you'll realize it's not 100% the same because you can't bring back the people that you experienced that time with. Maybe it's still worth it though considering what we're heading to now or are currently in. To all the oldfags here who are nostalgic, why haven't you adopted this lifestyle?

stfu that wasn't his point

3rd worlders were on MMOs back then too but it was mostly brazilians
we complained about them not realizing how bad it would get with indians

Patience for what exactly? There's no rainbow at the end of the endless korean grind tunnel, the grind IS the experience. If you're not having fun 1 hour in then you're not going to suddenly start having fun 1000 hours in.
The worst part about Ragnarok and Maplestory in particular is knowing that the games are doomed to get worse over time as the developers have demonstrated that they have no clue on how to expand the game's progression without wrecking everything. You are investing countless hours into a doomed game.

i tried and like you said it's not the same. it was a consequence of the era. completely different mentality, and some sort of innocence about the relatively fresh internet. maybe a similar trend will emerge again in the future but the way things are going i doubt it. the internets soul has been raped to hell by corporations, and the political climate is too unpredictable and stressful for most people to kick back and enjoy like we did back then, and there cohesive good will internet culture that existed back then has been destoyed

I played this when I was a teen.
I tried playing this again when /v/ hosted a server.
I'm fuckin 40 this year and I don't understand.
I have zero idea how you're supposed to even find out how you progress in this game.

I miss all those shitty f2p online games from back then. Almost every one of them was unique in some way. Now there's only fucking gacha and whatever is the current fad

you had two options:
get in a party and shitpost in the party chat or become schizophrenic and shit up the threads about it on 4chan

I admire Russians and Filipinos because a lot of them were unchanged by time. They still play games like CS Source, Lineage 2, Cabal Online, etc. And it's not even like they had a nostalgia awakening. Things just never changed for them. Either because they knew things would never get better or what they were experiencing was perfect to them and why change that.

Can you even play ragnarok anymore?

Laying in bed playing RO on my shitty laptop as a neet was infinitely more fun than any sort of high end gaming I've done on my maxed out rig after graduating and getting a job
I should have taken more screenshots and cherished those times a little bit more because I miss them now more than ever
>>

See that's our problem. There are moments in our life when we feel like we have nothing but realize we've always had the old things to go back to, and when we experience it we feel the most comfort in life. Then the moment we make money we feel like we have to experience the newest shit.
