What did /v/ think about the diamonds' plot?
2 million in diamonds seems like chump change for how much trouble it causes, you steal more than double that in the first heist of V.
>>744607927Well the original planned transaction was supposed to go really smoothly, wasn't it?
>>744606179Fun to see and experience, the obvious one is I like how it all connects with the three protagonists and the hobo that wins in the end
>>744606179the game goes to shit after this
>>744606179Made better use of its multiple protagonists than V did.
>>744606179how did the diamonds in a gravel truck end up in a garbage can in a park?
>>744609525Do you live in opposite world? Finally leaving Broker and Dukes is when the game finally gets to stretch its fucking legs. Bohan isn't even bad because of how short it.
>>744606179>Three separate protagonists with their own stories who don't have anything to do with each other>Their actions may have major consequences on each other indirectly >The only times they interact it's strictly business and it's just a couple of timesThis is how multiple protagonists should exist in a game.
>>744611317If you've ever driven behind one of these things on the highway, you'd know that the wind blows shit off the top all the time
>>744611663I've been saying for years this is how GTA V should have been. Each character's subplot should have been their main story and focus, with their crossover shit with Michael/Trevor and the FIB be the overarching subplot. It's crazy. All they needed to do was make a game like GTA IV+EFLC, but inside one game where you can seamlessly switch between the characters instead of going to the main menu.
>>744611663>>744612023what's wrong about the way V did it?
>>744611864Makes sense, it's weird all the wiki stuff says that the diamonds ended up in a garbage truck, in game we see they end up in a gravel truck. If the diamonds did end up in a garbage truck that would imply that liberty city garbage workers are redistributing garbage. There's no way the garbage in the back of a garbage truck would end up in a garbage bag at the park. Do people just not understand civil infrastructure? If they were in a gravel truck and like you say the wind blew them off into the street, then a city worker could have swept them up and put them into the garbage at the park.
>>744613291Well, first and foremost, it's obvious both Trevor and Franklin are afterthoughts. The game was made with Michael in mind, every important main mission revolves around him and his conflicts.Second, both Trevor and Franklin not being majn character material in the first place, completely feel out of place in Michael's story. The way everything gets too contrived and entangled for no reason so this three can frequently interact together in missions just cheapens Michael's story while leaving no room for the other two to shine.
>>744613291It feels woefully unfinished. Seems like what they were going for was a game where you can swap between 3 characters to have different information (like how the gta 4 protagonists all have one piece of the larger story), or have all 3 characters together for side activities. There aren't that many missions where all 3 characters have something relevant to do and the only side activities are going to the movies or a bar, in which the latter is just a fade to black. If it had been better implemented there would have been incentive to do multiple playthroughs to see the different missions from the different character's perspectives. As it exists there's very little variation for which character you choose in a story mission and usually it forces you to switch between them anyways. You can't really commit to one character or another. You can sit in the passenger seat and have the AI drive in certain missions, but the game will force a change in perspective for example in the submarine mission. You can't choose not to drive the submarine and in most of the missions involving Trevor you can't choose not to fly the helicopters. It's a cool gimmick but it's suggestive of something deeper that could have been.>>744614317Franklin was a nothing character. After he gets his new house he's practically out of the story. With Trevor, it seems like they didn't know what to do with him. For me he jumped the shark after kidnapping Martin Madrazo's wife. He goes from the terrifying spectre of Michael's past to a big silly clown and stays a big silly clown for the rest of the game.
>>744615257>With TrevorNot just that but it's a cheap trick to cement Trevor as a threat by having him kill the protagonist of the former game. Rockstar doesn't get enough shit for what they did to Johnny. So you've already got a bad taste in your mouth from the way this character was introduced, then they follow it up by having him go full retard somewhere down the line, becoming a nonsensical joke character. If they had fully committed to him being this unstoppable hellion force of nature that needed to be dealt with it would have been a different story. Instead we get him playing house.
