Is it truly the greatest JRPG ever made?
It's definitely up there, but Expedition 33 is now the best JRPG ever made, and it's not even Japanese.

>>744608712It's really good. Played it for the first time a few years ago on my shitty laptop. The story hooks you, the gameplay has a nice rhythm, the pacing is probably the best in any rpg I've played. You do not have to grind. The sprite art is from Square at the top of their game. The sidequests actually take advantage of the time travel conceit. And there's newgame+ despite it coming out in 95'. It lives up to the hype.
