What is actually this "zapping system"? I only place og resident evil 2 once like 15-20 years ago as a pubert/kid, I really dont remember anything. the usual, beat the game, then deleted it and moved on. didn't know shit about Scenario A or B bullshit. when I saw Mr X in the Remake trailers I thought he was some OC lol
back to the quesiton, how does that mentioned system work?? what do you mean "if you, Leon, grab something here, Claire wont have it when you finish the game, start over but choose her instead"? arent they supposed to be happening at the same time?? it doesnt make any fucking sense. I remember Revelations 2, now THAT does make sense, since Barry story happens after Claire's

I'm playing the remake right now, people say the remkae butchered it by not having this system

There's a couple random spots, mostly a weapon armory, where grabbing all of the big loot(item slot increase and a machine gun) in there means that there's only some ammo in that room for the B story character.

The A/B system has the A character basically being slightly ahead so you'll sometimes see signs of it during the B playthrough such as the zapping system/armory.

The A/Bs also had a couple areas/bosses exclusive to the A/B sides which does more to feel like the stories take place at the same time compared to the zapping system.

Depending on the scenario, you start in different areas. Just like RE2 remake.
You go through the same areas, but some scenes are different. Ada's "death" is different, for example, if you play Leon A or Leon B scenario.
>>
>>744610738
You make choices in Scenario A, then when you load up a Scenario B, those choices will be carried over. The idea is that Scenario B character is about 15-30 minutes behind the Scenario A character and has to deal with their choices.

This is all to extend playtime as you need to beat A+B to get the true final ending. it also results in two different experiences or stories.

>BA

There's a small handfull of items that are shared between the A/B scenarios so if claire A didn't pickup the pouch for extra inventory then leon B could get it. There was a keycard door in the labs that needed the A playthrough to input a code so the B playthrough could get in with their code since the door needed 2 codes. It was kinda neat at the time. Either way both A/B playthroughs don't make 100% sense BUT it had way more variety in the OG and did have some cooler changes while the remake really cut down on the differences so anons are rightfully upset. In the remake the B scenario is almost an afterthought and more of a remix challenge mode with different item/enemy placements and less story changes beyond starting at the other RPD entrance.

forgot to mention

Actually it wasnt "beat the game, then delete and moved on". no, I owned the og discs, Leon and Claire respectively, but ignored Claire's obviously. I never tried Claire's (or, if I had, I've forgotten about it/didnt care)
I know nothing about starting in a "different area" or stuff like that
see RE1, Chris is normal mode and Jill is the same but easy mode. that's all. logically, Leon should be normal mode and Claire should be THE SAME but easy mode, just like RE1

it wasnt until RE2R trailers and stuff that I became aware different canon existed, and that I basically beat in vain since it never was canon (which fucking sucks honestly, the fuck you mean the campaign that took me days to beat wasnt canon)
>>
>>744611675
yeah, well that's not how RE2 works you dope. Claire and Leon are different, and if anything Leon has the easier time with more robust weaponry. In the original RE1, Jill gets an entirely new weapon on top of the inventory Chris gets, but in RE2, Claire gets the grenade rifle as her ultimate weapon. So it's much more balanced.

Leon's shotty is pretty good and it gets better, but Claire's bolt gun is pretty shitty. I wish they fixed it for the RE2 remake but instead they just ditched it.

The shock rifle thing is pretty good in OG and Remake but it works best against stuff like Birkin in both games and the G adults in the remake. I wouldn't say it's bad. More like limited to more specific use cases where it shines.

Claire has arguably the best weapon in the game (the GL launcher) that can hold 255 rounds in the chamber. You get access to different ammo types, the Acid Rounds being super effective against 99% of the enemies, and the flame rounds being great for the plant enemies or setting enemies on fire while they take damage over time.

i never saw anyone talking about this but Revelations 2 has zapping system too
>>
>>744614837
mentioned it in the op
>>
>>744614657
because I just defeated birkin in the first encounter. used 8 shotgun and around 15 handgun bullets

I dont use knives because I'm scared of its durability mechanic... then I read people used knifing to defeat him. and that the knife can last up to 60/120 slashes
im like wtf I could just have defeated the zombies with knife and save ammo!!
>>
>>744614837
Rev 2 had the zapping system? The fuck? Admittedly it's been forever since I played it but I don't remember that shit at all.

It's a gimmick retards bring up and act like it's a huge deal in the original game, when all it amounts to is about two choices that are just
>Will you take X, Y, or X and Y?
Everything else is basically meaningless and shit you won't notice.
>>
>>744610738
>What is actually this "zapping system"?
Interaction between the A and B routes.
Some stuff you do during the A run changes stuff in B. The simplest non-spoilery example would be the SMG / Pouch bag items; if you take either one / both, those items won't be available for B.

Which ever character you start with gets the A route, where they run through the gun store and do not meet Mr. X.
You then load the Clear save file of A to start the B run as the other character.

There's essentially 4 distinct versions of RE2 OG's story, all worth playing.

>I'm playing the remake right now, people say the remkae butchered it by not having this system
Correct. It's a fucking generic and insulting 2010's AAA over-shoulder action game, with fucktons of extra handholding, butchered story and characters, and fucktons of cut content, including the Zapping.

Hell, Crapcom was about to even cut out the A/B campaign system and do one linear campaign instead, but we fans complained enough that they very hastily retooled it into something that somewhat resembles the A/B thing.

You DEmake fags should not even bother writing.

First of all, stop typing like you'd be on an iPhone group chat.

Second, don't you zoomer homos have ANY desire to experiment with things?
Yes - you can knife tihngs, and it's OP. Especially if you are on PC and play at >60 fps, since its damage is tied to framerate.

Also, if you are not playing on "Hardcore" mode, with the Ink Ribbons, then you are playing on a literal babby mode that makes enemies a non-threat + quadruples your item pickups.

>>744619362
It not only WAS a big deal at the time, but it is also one of the things that EVERYONE expected Crapcom to EXPAND UPON, not completely axe like the lazy ass hacks they are these days.

>Everything else is basically meaningless and shit you won't notice.
Someone never opened the Lab doors or use anti-BOW gas.
>>
>>744620787
because im fucking playing with my brother, how do i fucking convince him? btw there was a hall with 3 zombies. told him beforehand he could TRY using the knife. he wasted like 30 bullets and damaged the knife by defending. he didnt use it, only at the very end to spam the knife
about 10-20 slashes, it went from 75% to 40%

If it was me I could have used it and avoid wasting 30 bullets, but I probably would have broken it in the proccess
so idk

>It's a fucking generic and insulting 2010's AAA over-shoulder action game
hod fucking dammit remake cancer, modern gaming cancer
****good graphics**** and the zombies are fucking ragdolls physics. limbs crossing doors, walls, etc corpses MOVING to awkward positions when another zombies push them
og games werent like this shit

****rEaLiSm***** my fucking ass
>>
>>744610738
Basicly one story 2 characters, A and B scenarios with different outcomes, diferent cutscenes, diferent weapons and enemies. A scenario does not deal eith Mr X and B scenario deals with him.

It isnt that impressive even for the time, considering R3 is far more random, but it was a neat concept. Probably couldnt reach its full potential as a result of the shitshow that was 1.5 and RE2 was rushed
