>Game is about a gen x frustrated worker
>He's incredibly overqualified for extremely redundant and mundane work that could be automatized.
>The experiment CAN'T possibly start unless Gordon presses a button or pushes a cart.
>Even without an apocalypse the place was an OSHA nightmare.
>Old ass boomer (Breen) has shady (intergalactic) dealings and has no qualms about selling his workers (with the rest of humanity) in order to get some fleeting sense of superiority.
>Turns out the guy is better at being a killing machine than a scientists.
>Get hired by someone else and you have no option but to accept.
>20 years later you come back to the work market
>Have to lead a bunch of sexless millennials who can't do shit against the boomers that never left their positions of power.

I've never not thought that
it always had some dilbert-ish office space energy to it
there's a generational aspect to the white collar office as a workspace which absolutely influenced half-life very directly as well as being something that influenced a lot of that generation in a less direct way

yeah man

Definitely leaning more Office Space than Falling Down despite all the violence.
Having said that, I have the personal theory that the combine decided to put the Citadel in self-destruct because with the suppression field destroyed the humans got 20 years worth of uncalibrated, unmoderated horniness and the advisors were afraid to be used as fleshlights.
