im still fucking pissed at this fucking UE5 demo bullshit rugpulling conartist needlenose. it was supposed to be so good, it was mmo's last chance for me. guess ill just stick to arpgs and tactics games
>>
>>744616962
The crowdfunded MMO made by a MLM homosexual grifter was a scam?! Who would have thought?
>>
There hasn't ever been a crowd funded mmo that wasn't a rugpull. Even Shart Citizen

i've said since the collapse of private wow servers with classic's release: MMOs as a genre are completely dead and will not come back until full-dive VR provides a reason to explore a massive multiplayer detailed open world
>>
>>744617457
we are so far away from that happening, if at all ;_; best we got is musks brain disk with dude playing pong

>the collapse of private wow servers with classic's release
But that never happened, retardbro.

I've backed a number of kickstarter MMOs. My starting price for anything unique-ish on the chance it could be good was about $250 (usually where the bonuses meant stuff like lifetime subscriptions andwhatnot kicked in). This one, I saw very soon after the KS that it was going to be a shitshow.
>Started selling tons of EXCLUSIVE cosmetics, separate from the ones in the KS, with plans to do this with frequency. You had to keep showing up to buy all the new exclusive item packs even if you paid $500+ in the KS; each pack was at least $125. At this point I knew they basically were either so greedy or knew they had a shitfuck demo on their hand and they, like Koreans, had to squeeze all the money out of everyone as fast as possible. Fuck em for losing such potential, but from the start they basically just drove the damn car off a cliff because of greed.

There are still MMOs out there and good ones, but its not going to be a phenomenon because those who really give a shit about roleplaying are not the market for the "discord garbage with a visual client and shit to do", and a whole generation of people are willing to pay MMO money (subscription, item mall, etc..) on shit like Fortnite, Roblox, and other non-MMO titles because of stupidity. There's still promising stuff out there though; occasionally something good gets reamed for no faults of its own (Book of Travels is one such example that got raped by COVID19 and having Swedish devs)

>There are still MMOs out there and good ones,
not a single mmo in the current day captures the soul and goodness of the old wow lich king into FFARR and guildwars time period, that stretch from 2005 to 2010 will never be beat

You won't be able to get the memories back if you played back in those days. If you didn't and you're just hearing about how awesome it was, similar to hearing from an old hippie that no party would ever eclipse THE Woodstock etc..then it creates an ideal that reality will never live upto.

Overall what does the "soul and goodness" of that era mean to you? There are some MMOs that have neat mechanics (ie Shroud of the Avatar is great for those who are really into the RP aspect. For instance, random guards around town are named A City Guard until you hail them, talk to them with a keyword system, and ask their name then it become Guard Bryson. Its the last game Lord British made before he got tricked into that horrid crypto-MMO that failed as it damn well should have)., but some don't have large scale.

There are promising ones out there for other inspirations like Pantheon Rise of the Fallen, which is basically meant to be the iteration of EverQuest Next/ Vanguard that we never got. There are older games that you may or may not like including some of those I've named like EQ (noteworthy for the ton of EQEmu servers too), StarWars Galaxies emu servers, and City of Heroes which is now exclusively and built upon as private servers. .

Hell, I'll tell you that Star Citizen, even playing on the alpha slice, has the events and community that feel most like an old MMO to me. Star Citizen if it ever gets over the technical hurdles of literally being the most ambitious thing possible, will be a fantastic MMO provided the oldfag devs haven't been overtaken by new greed monetization tards, but I have more fun with SC than I do many, many other games. There's other stuff too but just a few examples to start but it depends what you're seeking and what you enjoy

MMOs will always be shit because modern players are shit.
>>
>>744617457
Full dive is the only way to revive MMOs because it forces players into the game instead of discord
>>
So which youtuber made a video about this trainwreck to bring it back from the memory hole?
>>
Gachas and live service games have completely cannibalized the cultural relevance and players of 2000s and 2010s mmorpgs.

The modern day blizzdrones are hoyodrones

I had the most recent Selwen vid playing in the background. It being a MLM scam with people like Pirate Software making commissions on the early access store is pretty hilarious. How MMO retards can fall for everything time after time is mystifying to me. For a brief period the non-videogame loan sharks that took over Intrepid Studios were going to make the EA steam release $100 with a $20 monthly subscription which is how out of touch the people who loaned the money to the two fag saviors of MMOs were.

Just make Chivalry/Mordhau in a fantasy open world RPG. Simple as that.

Modern MMORPG's will never be good because of the players, the metafags and the internet.

Players.
Modern Players are extremely lazy and need the newest thing as quickly as possible, if they have to work for it then it's 'shit"

Metafags
Do I really need to explain? You could have build freedom and some nigger will tell you it isn't the best DPS and kick you from the party.

Internet.
No point in exploring the world or anything at all because everything you need is all written up on the internet.
