I think palworld needed more things for the slow mounts, like if their hitbox is twice or thrice as big as yours, you shouldn't take damage if the pal's hit by anytthing, that way you can ride a big fuckoff pal and use it like a seige weapon to crash and crumble enemy structures.

Everything feels half-assed and incomplete. It's a game where they just tossed a bunch of ideas around and never got around to fully fleshing them out into actually fun or interesting mechanics. There is a very solid idea in this game, but they just couldn't help themselves with doing "everything". Base building is slow and grindy, the exploration quickly becomes meaningless, combat is mostly decided by purely numbers.The most damning thing about the game is that it utterly fails to get you invested in your pals. The game treats them as literal tools for progression and encourages you to simply replace old pals with new ones. Your current pals should almost always be superior to new ones. When you constantly toss out your pals for new ones with better stats, abilities and skills you never really form a bond with them. This is something pokemon does pretty well, and it's something pocket pair failed to realize. There is a reason almost every starter in pokemon can fully clear the game with total ease.

Testing out building on floating world terrain like the stone spires in sunreach and I'm almost certain the guy who made his nice base on one of those used a mod that removed hitbox collisions for foundations. The actual precision you need to make everything look that flush and that clean along with the grass area where his anubis statue is is downright master class in construction.

It's why my pals were consistently able to kill wild pals with ease, often in 1 hit but would get blown up by bosses in seconds, and I I didn't one shot the enemy pal, they'd often one shot mine.It does make the game a lot harder. On paper, it doesn't but a lot of the bosses have a ton of health. Which naturally means that the moment you have to fight a war of attrition you are probably going to lose. It makes the stronger pal even stronger, which exacerbates the extremes in combat.
