Best single player MMOs?
Also other than Kingdoms of Amalur, too obvious of an answer even if it's the right one

Runescape really did go from being one of the most social MMOs ever made to being a singleplayer game with internet requirement huh?
>>
>>744622886
You can make a WoW server and setup bots as other "players".
>>
>>744623135
Early Runescape didn't have raids and never required you to be in a party for quests. Most quests put you in instances rooms and forced you to fight solo.

No idea what OSRS does now, haven't played RS for like 15 years.

You can even do raids with them, but it requires a good deal of tard wrangling.
I cleared most of ZG outside Hakkar before getting tired of it, will probably give it another shot. Main reason I quit at Hakkar was because the main mechanic, the blood was unimplemented in the server emulator and it kinda soured it.
>>
>>744623769
How tard are they compared to normal drooling idiot players with egos?
>>
>>744622957
this. rs3 ironman is quite the comfy experience tbqh desu

You have to tell them to do the raid mechanics through commands and whispers. It requires a lot of setup, fiddling with addons and dozens of macros.
You can set up waypoints before you pull the boss, and for example write in raid chat that all ranged and healers should go to waypoint 2. There's also a come to me/follow me command for unforeseen problems, like lava on your waypoints and you need to manually reposition the raid.

Mechanics like living bomb could be handled with unit frames and mouseover macros. See who has the debuff, mouseover him, and use your macro to whisper to him get out of the raid.
You can setup spell rotations and send a command to tell everyone to start their AOE spam once the tank has picked up the adds, switch to single target, blow your cooldowns, etc.

It's very satisfying if you manage to kill a boss, since practically you had to take care of every mechanic.

nta but what are raid mechanics? i played a little solo wow a few years ago, just to wander around the zones. never really got to any bosses, before i got bored trying to level

runescape being a social game is massively overblown

Any special attacks that the boss may do to the players.
Bosses hit hard enough to 1shot most players, which means you need a tank, like a warrior specced protection with as high health and armor as possible to tank the boss and take its hits, while healers heal him.

Now, the boss might stack a debuff on the tank. Like a poison that gains a stack every 5 seconds, cannot be dispelled, and eventually does enough damage per second that it cannot be outhealed. Bosses like these need 2 tanks, that is, two players taking turns taunting the boss every 30 seconds or so, so the poison drops off the other tank and resets its stacks. This is a tank swap, one of the most basic mechanics. You can replace poison with a debuff that reduces tank's armor, etc.

Another raid mechanic would be something that targets other players, like spawning a pool of lava under a certain ranged dps. If everyone is stacked up the lava will hit everyone, so this mechanic requires all the players to keep some distance. It also requires the target fast reactions to run out of lava before they die.

Another mechanic would be turning a player into a living time bomb that explodes after 5 seconds, killing everyone nearby. The player would have to run away from the rest of the group before he kills everyone.

Normally each player has to handle whatever the boss does to them, but if you play with bots, you have to remote control them and handle everything yourself.

Also, a "raid" is just a name for a dungeon that's always maximum level, much much harder, and requires more than 5 players.
In vanilla WoW, raids were 20-men and 40-men dungeons. On some of the harder bosses you were expected to die dozens if not a hundred times before every retard in the group started taking the mechanics seriously and learned what to do.
So, "raid mechanics" basically means learning the boss fights in an endgame dungeon.

oh damn, that sounds like a massive pain to have to manage with macros/scripts. my only experience with an mmo is ffxi, which don't really have raids
>>
>>744624774
That's very interesting. I've never thought of going back and playing WoW but with bots. It's almost intriguing me now.

I was gonna post this. My friend who likes MMOs said it was good, but he dropped it to play Monsters and Memories when that game's beta came out.
>>
>>744622886
Play an old MMO which has several expansions worth of old story content.
SWTOR, Final Fantasy XIV, etc.
FFXIV nowadays has bots that you can complete story dungeons with.
>>
whelp i gave rs3 another shot. cant do it. its so fucking boring. i dont even think being a member would fundamentally solve anything. its still just going to be boring rs3.

i think im gonna jump ship for osrs. if i cant make it stick either ima just delete my account and be done with rs for good.

i think one of my major issues with rs3 is that it is faster than osrs, but for most of the early to midgame it is only marginally faster. meaning it really does become questionable why you arent just playing osrs. the endgame is astronomically faster, but you have to trudge through a lot of slow boring grinds. its not worth it for me.
