What did /v/ think about it?
>>
Its legacy and zeitgeist is being the dudebro console, but at least it had a few neat japanese oddities like Lost Odyssey or Deathsmiles.
>>
Party chat killed online gaming. Thanks Microsoft! Now no one talks in lobbies and everyone is bunkering down in private calls.
>>
>>744627682
it was my childhood and i get depressed looking at it
>>
>>744627682
it had great games but the rrod was horrible to deal with and then later on microsoft decided to completely ruin it by trying to copy the wiis success
>>
It annoys me how Xinput is still the standard library being used for controller-based games 20 years on. We are still being artificially limited to the inputs of a 360 controller just because Microsoft didn't have the foresight to futureproof their API.
>>
>>744627682
has a fan in it, just a shit pc
>>
>>744628060
Funnily enough, the Kinect was popular among robotics and computer vision researchers because it was a pretty solid 3D camera available for a relatively low price. It will probably be end up being the most important product Xbox ever released when they inevitably kill the brand off, despite being shit for gaming.
>>
>>744627682
I am really enjoying it, been playing Fable 2, Dead Rising, and Halo 3.
>>
>>744627682
Playing Fallout 3 at launch on this thing is an unforgettable memory trapped deep in my mind. Exploring the cramped metro tunnels on an old CRT was an incredible gaymen experience.
>>
>>744628663
I have my old one sitting on my desk as I type this but I can't play at the moment because the wireless controller I have doesn't work anymore
>>
>>744627682
Good.
>>
>>744627682
By far the worst console generation in terms of the quality of games. Devs back then seemed to insist on making everything as braindead as possible and thought that that fancy graphics was enough to make a game sell.
>>
>>744627682
Superior multiplayer experience
>>
>>744629165
>By far the worst console generation in terms of the quality of games
is 8 or 9
>>
Halo and Gears of war were really good on it, games were generally much better in those days
>>
>>744629165
I assume a lot of it was because they saw the Wii was popular with people who didn't normally play games so they wanted some of that. So every game needed to be designed for someone who'd never played a game before in their life.
>>
>>744627682
It was fun but it's literally the least durable console I've ever owned. Piece of shit marks discs with a permanent circle dent if you slightly move it while playing, one bad fall and the faceplate comes straight off, the disc tray can straight up refuse to play games. On top of it sounds like a fucking jet engine. RRODs were the least of this thing's worries.
No reason to get one nowadays unless you want to play a specific game like Gears of War 2 or Lost Odyssey, and even then you can easily play those through Xbox Series BC, I think. Or just emulate on Xenia.
It was fun for the first 5 years of its life cycle then it went to shit.
>>
When i see it: i turn 360 degrees and walk away
>>
This is what a 21 year old console looks like
>>
>>744627682
It was ok. The problem is that average gamer even back then was a retard who thought things like tiered pricing and paywalled online were great features for consoles to have. The NXE UI was a downgrade compared to Blade and made the system sluggish. All but a handful of games from that era aged like shit. Xox live also popularized P2P online play in places where it didn't belong, like on PC.

A Microsoft console doesn't deserve to be successful in any generation let alone that one considering their goal from the start had been to control the industry with an iron first.
>>
>>744629529
No, it had nothing to do with the Wii, otherwise it would have evolved along the same track. Accessibility was just the thing that investors wanted after they acquired the industry in 2008. They wanted the casual audience that bought the PS2 for a DVD player to materialize and buy something that wasn't gun&ball slop.
>>
>>744627682
I know v used to shill Rockstar's Table Tennis. good times
I like how the emulator is not ressource-heavy

I liked Kameo, Risen, GTA IV, EDF 2017, BK N&B, PGR 3, Prey, Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet, Arcania Gothic 4, Viva Pinata, PD Zero, GoW 2

You get banned for opening your mouth now, be glad.
>>
1st console that didn't make online play a pain in the ass to setup, it just worked.

controller feels nice, way better than playstation controllers

UI was really nice to and easy to navigate
>>
>>744627885
boomer ass take
its just that no one wants to talk to you specifically
you probably the kind of retard to get offended and report everyone for bants to
>>
>>744635819
I like to list the things I like, get fucked matrix npc.
>>
>>744635838
Thats bs. PS2 and PS3 had easy to setup and free online
>>
>>744636026
ps2 was not easy to set up at all, no one I knew was playing ps2 online.

I specifically said the first to come out that was easy, or are you so fucking retarded you can't read?

ps3 didnt come out for 1 year after the xbox360 was released, therefore it wasn't the first, xbox 360 was

You''re a fucking retard, kys
>>
>>744636147
ps3 was easy to setup and free.

kys retard, ps3 just worked too.
>>
>>744636214
Again

>1st console that didn't make online play a pain in the ass to setup, it just worked.
>1st console

I specifically said xbox360 was the FIRST console to make online play easy.

The ps3 released 1year+ after xbox360, therefore it was the SECOND console to make online play easy

You're actually so fucking retarded it's incredible, I'm not joking when I say you should kys for being that retarded.
>>
>>744636214
his entire point was that xbox 360 did it first and that ps3 was over a year late to the game, he's right, you are a retard
>>
>>744636026
PS2 did not have easy setup. Every game required its own publisher account (real niggas still have their Capcom NETfile) and all configuration was done through the jank ass PS2 web browser.
>>
>>744627682
Too many shooters
>>
>>744627682
Still the most fun online experience. Best gamepad too.
>>
>>744636214
ps3 online was only free because they were over 1 year late to the game and desperate to win people back over to playstation

Playstation online stopped being free in 2013, it hasnt been free for over 13 years you absolute fucking retard.
>>
>>744627682

The last good console.
>>
>>744627682
The greatest console with the greatest games
>>
>>744627682
When I had to return my 360 Elite to Microsoft for a “repair” (I assume replacement) when I got some error that wasn’t RROD but something similar, the email they sent me with information on how to pack and prepare my console for the pick up was filled with bizarre typos and grammar mistakes to the point that it seemed like an employee was just fucking around. For example, while telling me I shouldn’t include controllers it consistently referred to controllers as “cunt rollers”.
>>
>>744635197
you sound like a butthurt tendie. the wii was peak casual dogshit
>>
>>744636885
>ps3 online was only free because they were over 1 year late to the game and desperate to win people back
Cope however you want, it was free for the entire generation. Stupid Xniggers like you are the reason every console has paid online now. Fuck you
>>
>>744627682
It was strangely kino in hindsight for having neither a HDMI port nor 1080p output at launch. And I like how you could also buy an external HD-DVD player for it, quite soulful in a way.
>>
>>744627682
360 was the last great console generation. Worst things about it, besides the hardware issues, was popularizing paid subscriptions and just ass performance. The latter still hasn't gone away with people being okay with sub 30 FPS performance for years after.
>>
>>744627682
i can't believe people still buy microsoft consoles after what they did
>>
better times...
>>
>>744627682
The beginning of the end. This console had it all, hardware failure, UI redesigns that were both uglier and slower, the introduction of paid DLC that PC players were getting as regular free updates, xbox live subscription fee increases, consoles becoming a casual netflix box, gamergate. It all snowballs from here.
