There have been complaints here and there from some who were mad X character (Judy in Cyberpunk being a big one) is not available to their own character.Larian is more focused on player power fantasy and wish fulfillment, and giving as many options to players as possible. Narrative has always taken a backseat (see the two Divinity Original Sin games). It was mainly in BG3 where they attempted more focus on narrative, but it still takes a backseat (you won't see respecs possible in a Bioware game, but they let you respec without much difficulty at all in BG3 including companions with in-lore classes). Obviously we have the complaints about everyone being bisexual (or more accurately, player-sexual-- simply existing to be a sexual option for the player character).I prefer the narrative approach myself (I want full immersion), but it's going to come down to what the company wants to prioritize.
