Lately, I've been troubled by "what's the point?" doubts when I've been playing video games.
How do you answer these thoughts for yourself?
>>
what's the point of doubting things instead of having fun?

When video games feel pointless, remember that play is a natural human need, the goal is fun, and the time spent is just for you

Just play normie games where the game is just second monitor content for socialization. That way the point is the game is just a "place" to meet up to talk to people and potentially fuck. This is what normies do nowadays.

But that also means that it should be fun. Play isn't worth it if it's not fun. One has to be able to stop playing a game if it's not bringing any joy, otherwise you end up like those GaaS/Gatcha/MMO addicts who treat the game as a second job toiling away in misery.
>>
maybe you should get into miniatures or something if you're a fucking loser

The fun just isn't coming anymore.

What's the point of anything? Why should i exercise? Why should I go to work? Why should I reproduce? Why should I pursue any sort of achievement, knowing that I'm hardly a speck on this tiny blue planet careening through space, knowing full well that nothing I do will impact the world years after I expire, knowing nothing that occurs on this planet will have any significance on a grander scale?

I'm wondering at the end of these sessions if it would be better if I had something more tangible to show for what I spent my time doing, even if it was in pursuit of fun. It's hard to tell a story to family and friends about having completed an especially hard SMW hack.

I play video games as escapism. I just turn my mind off otherwise I would go insane. Everyday I think about my own mortality, how nothing I do matters, how no one will remember me, struggling with if there is an afterlife, what's after death. It's either nothing or eternity, and frankly, both terrify me. I can feel every second pass me. Every second that I won't get back. I have a crippling fear of time

it's not like you're even trying to have fun

Do you want some game recommendations? I used to feel the same way before I actually started and needed to care about life, avoid the pitfalls that come with it (bpd foids, drugs, alcohol abuse etc), and find a trade/skill to hone so my future kids don’t live in a trailer park. Games were definitely a form of escapism for me before I turned 25. If you simply just feel like the games you’re playing aren’t fun, I’m sure there’s something out there that would scratch the itch for you if you gave them a try.

This. The thread ended here.
If you are playing a video game you should be playing it because its fun.
If its not fun then don't play it and go do something else.
>inb4 what's the point of having fun
Enjoy your time alive. Time spent having fun is not time wasted.

I think I'm ready for fun I can show people.

You need to step away, re-engage with reality, then return to games.

Then take a break. No one is forcing you are gunpoint to play games, watch shows, or other hobbies you're doing. Life is ultimately reliant on how you interact with it and if you're forcing yourself to do something you're just gonna hate it.

I was obsessed about Tokusatsu for like 10 years straight and just needed a bit of a break so I haven't watched a season of a show for like two years now, but I know I'll eventually go back to it because I still love it, I just got a bit tired of having it so consistent.
Same happened with third-person games some years ago, everything I played was third-person so for a solid year I basically only played FPS games, puzzle games, or sidescrollers because the third-person perspective was driving me nuts since it felt like I was getting no true variety in games. That year off really helped reset things and made it all feel good again.

the point of video games is escapism. unless you have given up on life you shouldnt play them very often.
