I'll start with Somnabusters
>A neat 2d platformer that has you playing as a witch girl traveling through a dream world. It can look a bit messy with its webcomic style but I dig its movement system where you can spin around and bounce off shit ping pong style while also being able to walk on ceilings and long jump with the broom. Stages are varied with their own gimmicks and enemies so I didn't really get bored. Story is fine but its dreamy nature makes things a little obtuse, though I found the characters charming enough for how much screentime they have. I also like how you can talk to some NPCS in stages, adds some life to the world. Sound design is also fun and charming, gives off an early 2000s genesis vibe. Main character is also cute

Savant Ascent REMIX is an arcadey twin-stick shooter, but instead of a top-down room, it's between two rapidly ascending platforms. Great pixel art, and it has an endless mode, so even if it's short, there's a lot of stuff to play through.

It's an actual Mother-inspired RPG Maker game like the stereotypes said. But it's not about depression, and it isn't all in le head. It's not a 100 free from stereotypes however. It does have too many references and a few other issues, but it's still good overall.
Its main selling points are its Halloween and horror theming and the number of side quests and optional party members. That makes it really replayable since you can do things in different orders and party comps every year.

I'm not sure if I can call it niche anymore since it's getting a console port. But things like that have gotten way more accessible so I can't really say. Also, I tried to shill this a lot.

I will play all of these.

I don't have much to say about these beyond that this is a charming little trilogy of point-and-clicks.
I don't know if this Switch port is the best way to play them. I think this cartridge is some ports of mobile ports. The first game has a chunk of the speech bubble sprite taken out, and it's floating near the top right menu button. They improperly cut the sprite sheet. I don't recall if it's still in Touch Detective 2. And I haven't gotten around to seeing how TD 3 is. I played a fan translation of it years ago. But it's long enough that I can't properly compare and contrast them, as I've forgotten most of the details.

Also on the original hardware, there was this neat detail where on the top screen you could read what the main character was thinking whenever something happened. But because there's only 1 screen in the modern versions, a big sprite of Makenzie fades in, thinks her thought, and fades out. It's not really a flaw, but something is lost.
