Pokemon Speedrunner DonnySpoonRaper1234 was on the run of his life in Pokemon Mystery Legends Arceus Blue Edition by a full 2 hours
>then the worst happened
>gayfaggot music starts playing
Donny Spoon Raper's parents burst through the door, stating they had not seen him in 3 days and 3 nights and demanded the he come down and eat dinner with them.
>Or else they would shut the internet off
As he had dedicated most of his living life (timed to be over 28 years of waking life) to competitively speedrun a game with a community of 10 other people, he was not going to lose this run.
>He quickly did a stair skip (new strat) by throwing himself down out his window
>by using all 4 legs and arms he jumped into the kitchen window, into his dinner seat, saving 4~ seconds.
He quickly removed the food from his plate by dumping half into his pants while his parents were looking and the other half straight down the wind pipe. (new pb)
>"I have to go back to speedrunning now, the fulfillment I feel of achieving meaningless accomplishments in shit no one cares about is my only happiness in life"
Taking the kitchen spoon with him, he quickly ran back up to his computer running a DS Emulator and continued the run.
>gayfaggot music changes to less gayfaggot music
And that's where the record stands today, an impressive 6 hours and 1 minute.

Speedrunning has done extreme damage to gaming communities, why is this degenerate act so tolerated, and at worst, "respected", on /v/?

speedrunning is lowkey finna based if its just you replaying a game you liked 2-5 times trying to optimise routes and beat later parts of the game with lower damage/hp but once you start calling it grinding and have to rely on rng you need to kill yourself in real life or at the very least do something else with your time
>>
>>744634527
>respected
it was never once respected and was always seen as troonies speed running themselves to death
>>
Quake done quick was simple fun
>>
>>744634697
trukular nuke wtf this
Once you start fulltime "grinding" it to save single digit seconds the fun is over you just need to move on. I have never seen someone who is happy speedrunning a game "full time".

I don't believe this story is real.
>>

It happens to me all the time

When did /v/ get so buckbroken at the mere concept of there existing people that are better at video games than they are?
It's like constant bitching about speedrunners, skill based matchmaking, PvP players in extraction games , it's even gotten to the level where they'll bitch about games being too hard for them and handwaving it with some buzzword term like movement slop or whatever.
Why do they make you so mad? It's only video games.
>>
>>744636720
its an exaggeration of something a 16 year old did in mystery dungeon. the run was world record, followed all the rules of the leaderboard, and was fine until werster threw a fit that ended in him losing the ability to remove runs from the mystery dungeon board lol

Speedrunning is fun to watch, but it is also insanely autistic, too autistic for most. Seriously, playing a game perfectly so you can shave a millisecond off the time is just absurd. Its fun to watch, but it is absurd.

Heh.... don't like the fact that I'm on welfare, living at home, and generally being an abhorrent blight on Earth?
YOU MUST BE JEALOUS IM BETTER AT DOING FRAME PERFECT BING BING WAHOOOOOS IN A GAME FROM MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!

Load up a random speedrunner's stream right now.
None of them are happy.
https://www.speedrun.com/streams
They are all raging after streaming 6 hours straight.
>>
>>744638261
that looks like a smile to me anon
>>
I like tool assisted speedruns
give me some TAS to watch
it's sad that most explanation videos are made by a wannabe eceleb nigger that stretches 1 sentence into 4 hours, but I still enjoy seeing the mechanics at work
>>
>>744634527
>Speedrunning is poison to gaming
it's an etnirely optional thing no one sane engages with
>>
>>744638261
>3895 attempts to get 1 win
these niggas should just hit the casino
>>
>but then *brap* THIS happened
>GET UP AND GO TO THE BATHROOM
>*phwee* nu-uh not yet *pllrrrrp*
>>
>>744634527
Speedrunning in and of itself is just a fun challenge, it's autists taking things too far that ruins it (like everything else).
>>744640697
TAS are very fun and the only kind of speedrun where the process is actually fun, it's like solving a puzzle rather then the autistic repetition of doing the same thing 10000 times just to get that sequence of perfectly timed inputs to shave off half a millisecond.
>>
>>744634527
I've occasionally had daydreams of anti-speedrun systems I might put into games if I ever happened to make one. Like

>40% through game, game checks playtime
>If less than 30% of what playtests estimate average run should take, it loads into unique cutscene on entering mandatory area
>NPC goes "look, bud. We know what you're doing here, and if it's just for skill expression: that's tight, go as fast as you want."
>"But if you're wasting your life grinding down splits or something... well, we just feel a moral obligation not to enable you."
>"So tell you what. We're going to add just a couple extra frames to every screen transition from here on. Something small, anywhere from five minutes to twenty plus on total remaining gametime, totally random - we're basing it off some random bullshit formula that swaps around how many times you jumped or opened a menu or farted or whatever."
>"actual variables are seeded on startup but it pulls from five at once, please don't even try."
>"That's all. Have fun with your run, just please don't try to make some dogshit high score list. It's more fun watching someone do cool high-skill but sub-optimal movement tech than exploiting a dozen memorized gaps in geometry meshes anyway, optimization is the thief of joy."
>>
>>744637031
Exploiting a use after free bug to wrong warp to the final boss is not skill. It's more akin to running on the treadmill and glitching out the display so it skips to the end of your workout
>b-but glitchless
Still a waste of time. Do something more productive like learning a language
>>
>>744641361
What an odd thing to care about.
>>
Speedrunning is unemployed behaviour. If you had a real job, you'd understand that time for vidya should be enjoyed.
>>
>>744645109
having a job is self deprication since the government wants to replace you with foreigners and or robots. also who are you appealing to? I don't have any shame, you don't. you'll work 80 years for pittance because someone told you "get a job" is how to be an adult.
this is what happens when you get a job and people still give you shit by the way, don't bother talking to me.
>>
>>744634527
What does anything that you had written has anything to do as to why 'speedrunning is poison to gaming '?
