Do you ever feel motivated to play a game because of a character in it that you really like moreso than because the game is actually good?
>>744635773Sure, I love the Griffin, but it's got not a lot of good variants, arguably none, in MW5 and in Battletech 2018 it's just another 55 5/8/5 medium cavalry mech where all 3 do more or less the same thing. It just looks cool, and I think that's neat.

>>744636245Naturally, any of the Not another Mechlab mods for MW5 completely unlocks the mechlab so you can turn the Griffin into just about anything you want, same for the big overhaul mods for BT2018. I don't really care for NAML anymore, one because anytime PIG updates the game it screws up the save file using it, and the other is that it kind of undermines the idea of finding better variants of a mech that can take a shit mech like a Cicada or Charger, and turn them into serious contenders for best in their weight class. Sadly the Griffin has exactly 1 good variant in vanilla MW5 and it's the Star League royal variant. Both heroes are shockingly bad making it a mech you skip over unless you have nothing else to work with. Maybe, maybe the 1S variant that you give an SRM4, ERLL and a pair of MPLAS but the Shadowhawk and Wolverine are right there, doing the same job but better. That's not even getting into the Clanner shit that makes it even less good.

Crazy how these Monster Prom games have great playable characters but only a couple of genuinely good romanceable characters per game that don't have some obnoxious quirk or are pitifully vanilla. They might as well make a game where you play the one getting romanced.
