>>744640249Kyras was dedicating the slaughter of the entire Aurelia sub sector to Khorne. Even if he did it in a somewhat Tzeentch like manner, he still offered the sacrifice of a couple million people to Khorne, which is enough blood and skulls that I imagine Khorne was willing to overlook all of that.
>>744640093on paper no, but due to how much autonomy rogue traders have its very easy for them to flirt with cultists and eventually get corrupted by the promises of chaos
>>744640447abhumans are described as fairly consistent mutations that would logically make them a subspecies of humanity. Your run of the mill mutant suffering from chaos taint are not the same, even if both are technically mutants to some degree. >>744640447The ecclesiarchy that the sisters work for are the ones in charge of sanctioning abhumans, are they not(or is that the administratum)? So if they say it's okay then that's it. Also the distinction between mutant and abhuman is very clear. Are the deviations from baseline humanity cause by warp exposure? That's a mutant. Is it a result of environmental adaptation or deliberate genetic engineering and as such breeds true with zero or near zero deviation between parent and child? That's an abhuman.

Offtopic, but my favorite Chaos Champion portrayal is a Slaaneshi CSM from the novel Farseer:>got kicked out (but not killed) of the Emperor's Children for raiding his captain's pleasure palace and destroying it while killing all of the slaves over a perceived debt>as a hedonist one of his pursuits is smoking lots of exotic alien weed>smoked so much he actually surpassed his limits and did something he himself considers impossible: he overpowered his "perfect" immune system and gave himself extensive brain damage>constantly forgets stuff like not knowing where one of his servants is and then pats himself on the back for his perfect memory when he remembers that he threw the guy out of the air lock some days ago for dull poetry>when his master, a powerful Daemon Prince, entices him with an offer of power to trample all of his lessers, he says something like "And even you will get some, master", doesn't understand why the Prince momentarily makes a very mad face, wonders if he slipped up AGAIN and said his thoughts out loud before thinking "Nah, I am too clever for such a fuck up">doesn't understand why an Eldar Aspect Warrior doesn't find his offer to make her his pet even remotely interesting

This any good? The only thing I remember from reading gaman magazines at the time is that there's a duel mechanic for your heroes
>>744640289Back when Rogue Trader first appeared, the entire setting was much more light-hearted. The premise of RT is that they are your dudes going on wacky space adventures with their alien friends and allies. When GW decided to turn the setting into Grimdark, something has to be changed to reflect that. However changing the concept of RT is disrespectful because it was one of the oldest thing in 40k (in the real world), so the RT can still go on wacky space adventures with xenos but they are actually sanctioned directly by Big E to be above the law in unclaimed space

>>744641092I still don't trust that they can translate 40k into Total War gameplay, especially considering the scale they show.
>>744643613Well like every new Total War game, I expect it to be riddled with bugs, broken or otherwise poor AI, and some mechanics just not working at all on launch. Which has been a consistent theme as far back as Rome 2.
>>744644998>Rome 2Nah, think Empire.Yes, that game existed.
>>744640249It seems a lot of people forget that the only reason Sindri and Kyras went to Khorne's side in the first place is because the Daemon of the Maledictum was a Greater Daemon of Khorne and somehow he can turn you into a Daemon Prince which is funny as far as lore breaking goesHis influence on Tartarus was strong enough he made 25% of the imperial forces go full blood cult when his seals were weakening thanks to Sindri
>>744645068Oh I remember it, it had naval combat (that hasn't returned) a heavy emphasis on ranged combat, and had some really cool ideas....that CA never went back to because the new team working at the company just removes ideas that don't work rather than refining them until they do. I mean, sure, I get why, but it's such a lame excuse that you would on one hand try to innovate your own mechanics, then give up when you can't think of a way to make it work.
I like to dabble in 40k, started reading the Gaunt's Ghosts books because I like imperial guard stuff and now I'm desperately trying to find a game to scratch the itch. Couldn't really get into Darktide, thinking maybe Helldivers 2 is the closest I can get.
>>744636925>>744637028lol'd
>>744645472Dawn of War:Definitive Edition has most of the tabletop factions available as playable, and is still one of the best 40k RTS games, and one of the better RTS games from its era.Warhammer 40k:Gladius:Relics of War also has a lot of factions that do play very differently but you go from RTS to turn based strategy 4X game that focuses almost exclusively on the exterminate of the Xs. Fun, but has some quirks to its mechanics you don't really see anywhere else in 4X games that make getting used to it a bit of a hump. Expect early games to have negative happiness spirals until you understand how much you can expand into new cities.Mechanicus is another turn based strategy game but more squad based tactics, where you play as the Adeptus Mechanicus (naturally) investigating a Necron Tomb World. Very fun, but sometimes total bullshit as both the map and the objectives can change suddenly and you get sucker punched to lose a tech priest you've been building up for a while. Still good, the 2nd game isn't as good I hear.Oh yeah, Dawn of War 2 is fine but unlike the first game it's on a much smaller scale and focuses pretty heavily on cover mechanics and hero units, but can still be fun. Has 3 expansions and only the last one lets you pick your faction that isn't just Space Marines. We don't talk about DoW 3...Hopefully that helps you pick a new game to try.
>>744641437But they're completely right
>>744645472If you like the whole small regiment working as a part of a larger war machine aspect of the story then I recommend Battle Brothers and Mountain Blade. They're not scifi but you can certainly get the same named characters doing heroic feats and possibly dying terrible deaths vibe of the series.
Can we talk about Fantasy here too?How is Vermintide 2's public multiplayer nowadays for new players? Are every remaining players just level 200 speedrunners who can solo entire level on their own now? Am I fucked if I can't get my friends to buy the game and play it with me?
>>744642380>MC is a Rogue TraderI somehow never read a single novel with a RT before so this should be interesting.>Farseer (male)Dropped. Literally unreadable.
>>744646259last time I played was in February plenty of nooblets were present, there is occasional sperg who will rush ahead, get pounced, babble something in bumfuckinstanian language and rage quit personally I find it more fun chaperoning new players and show them what each respective class can achieve.
>>744645226>naval combatOh fuck, imagine if they add naval combat for 40k Total War. They could use the same system as Shogun 2 and it would kinda fit.
>>744646259Still fine, but one of Vermintide 2's big features I liked was that whatever build and equipment you had on a character, the AI will then use. Not as well as a player, mind you, but it means you can slowly build up a team to take on Legendary and Cataclysm solo if you feel you're tired of literal who's ruining a run by dying constantly and failing to stick together, do the objective, or just being generally retarded. Strangely, it's a very friendly game if you feel like playing it by yourself as well as with other people. Obviously a group of organized, and well communicated players will outshine dipshit AI, but the option is nice to have anyway.
>>744645472I recommend Necromunda: Hired Gun

He’s magnanimous and beautiful and he’ll even bring slaves to great banquets he orders prepared. But obviously once he leaves the room, they will be eaten by the rank and file.
>>744641696i played the game, its super linear and i would say its ok, you really can't play around with armies in the campaign, you have to set up a skirmish battle with AI. The campaign with orcs and dark elves is super hard i hated the stealth level
>>744636487>>744636925You are my Brothers and I shall stand here pinned with you.
>>744650989I'm a strict campaign only nigga
Can someone explain to me the mindset of doing Dawn of War 4 and Total 40k at the same time? They look basically identical except one has token basebuilding and the other has basebuilding tokens.
>>744640192Inquisitors have all their power in the centre of the imperium, where they can commandeer a fuckton of enforcers to do whatever they want. Rogue traders on the other hand have all their power in the fringes, where the RT is likely the only power a bunch of planets know. If an inquisitor finds a heretic RT, they've gotta try and slip assassins into the RTs retinue and/or slip away to get a force to deal with them, confronting them directly is a quick way to get disappeared. Conversely if a RT visits the milky way you'd better be damn sure he's on his best behaviour because any inquisitor with a grudge can have them deleted.
>>744645705Dawn of War 2 was so close to being great, evidenced by OPs character, but Jesus Christ are the base game’s missions a slog. I couldn’t bring myself to complete Chaos Rising because I was so burnt out from the identical 6 levels of bug hunting to complete the first campaign. And it’s a shame because I actually like the stuff CR ads and the levels have more going on.
>>744641857Do you think you're piloted around by a bunch of farm animals?
>>744640093They can't but they can hide it better than regular humans thanks to having almost unlimited freedom to do whatever they want
>>744651441Best summarised by this.
Any of the main mods work properly on Definitive yet?
>>744640192Rogue Traders can be in control of multiple Star Systems and call on enormous armies, Imperial navies, and some can have their own Space Marine allies to call on depending on the size of their realm they could have an entire chapter within their 'domain', along with other special factions or 'heroic' characters. They're individually weak as a 'person', but that's not really the point. The point is they're pretty much Kings of their own kingdoms that are 'loyal' but really have their own agendas.
>>744651441>—Not surprised this game was written by ChatGPT
>>744640384I keep going back and forth between Blood Angels and Black Templars, they're pretty much the only two chapters that do anything for me.
>>744640384My Iron Warriors
So, lemme get this straight. DoW 4 won't have elves? But I like elves.
>>744640192Fraternising with chaos is one of the few things that can get a warrant of trade torn up and a RT dynasty ended. Inquisitors often have to rely on a RTs troops to enforce their will out in pioneer regions however so it's difficult to carry out.
>>744651113Total War = map painting simulatorDawn of War = base destruction simulator
>>744652165>dynasty>>744651648>Rogue Traders can be in control of multiple Star Systems and call on enormous armiesThese niggas are basically feudal lords?
>>744652245>These niggas are basically feudal lords?Yeah that's one way to think of them, Space Feudal lords.
>>744652245>These niggas are basically feudal lords? They're basically space explorer-conquistadors
>>744640249Kyras gave a really good speech so he gets a mulligan
>>744652245Yeah the Imperium is essentially a neofeudal realm. The centralized administration is overburdened by bureaucracy and by fighting losing wars on every front, which leaves a power vacuum that local merchants and warlords can easily fill. The dynamic can be formal, like an officially appointed sector administrator misappropriating the wealth and resources of their sector to pursue personal goals under the Imperium's nose, or it can be informal, like wealthy merchants whose influence and loyalties effectively give them more power over a sector than its official admins.
>>744651235I still like DoW2 as this incredibly experimental game that mixed RTS and ARPG mechanics together for something generally different from what was on offer at the time for RTS games. I do admit that the base games campaign could drag on due to lack of map variety, and also how you can break the games difficulty with just Cyrus and his infinite infiltration and det pack charges. Who needs a whole army when you have 1 man and his 2 scout cheerleaders?
>>744640093Nah, uralon is a main anragonist for and youbcan only recruit him way late as a heretic. By that point all your regular character either left or got corrupted themselves and you are heading out dark stars where no good servant of the emperor would thread. And the lord inquisitor is there
>LET US DUEL THEN, LORD OF FOOLS>you don't actually want your Eldar Warlock to "duel" a Chaos LordI love this little elffer like you wouldn't believe.
>>744639709DoW has a long and proud history of Khorne sorcerers. Hell, the very first expansion of the first game had World Eater sorcerers. And not to mention Sindri and Kyras.
>>744642451its amazing how much mental gymnastics these faggots do trying to justify that the average 40kfag is a kamala voter who blows his paycheck to paints tyranids for his over/underweight blue haired girlfriend who cheats on him. Their idea of manliness is shaving with a single blade razor instead of a safety one.
I liked Idira despite benching her
>>744653382She's great if you wanna Heretic.Useless for anything else.
>>744640384Respect for being an Iron Hands fan
>>744636323FOR EACH 40K THREAD THAT DIES 10 MORE WILL TAKE ITS PLACE
>Give soulstorm a try and fall in love with the sisters of battle and their units>Find out they're the weakest faction in the gameI just wanted to purge my enemies with fire and flame.
>>744652568I really don't think the devs tested their own game on hard or primarch or they would have realized how insanely weak Thaddeus is. I don't care how squads are set up in tabletop, he desperately needed some kind of gimmick besides getting himself insta-supressed.
>>744640093The situation is a bit special because the other two rogue traders in the region are batshit insane and the lord inquisitor is giving (You) a lot of amnesty to somehow wrangle the Koronus expanse back into orderBy the time you recruit the chaos space marine you're already way past the point of caring though
>>744651681I fucking hate how em dashes are a sign for AI writing now when I use them all the time before AI was a thing.
>>744655756Well, good writers like them because they're great for formatting your text, and unfortunately AI crawled all that text by good writersSucks to be you, just press the - button
I want more thousand sons, when are they gonna have an event and we get more named units besides Ahriman?
>>744653559Is /tg/ so dead that fa/tg/uys have to talk about 40k here?
>>744656316Is /v/ so shit that they complain about it?
>>744655450When he finally gets Terminator armor, he makes for a great bullet sponge so all your actually important squads can do the real work.
Ok am re-installing Chaos Rising and Retribution, any funny build for the company
>>744652568I recently replayed DoW2 again and I'm baffled that younger me never noticed that they only had nine maps in the campaign and just switched the camera angles around for each mission.
>>744656659Melee Avitus and Tarkus, ranged Thaddeus and Vanilla Ice.
>>744656683It's criminal how they are all totally symmetrical. There's no flow to anything.>>744656527Game should have had an option to put Cyrus in terminator armor. I think that would have been funny.
>>744656527Does he? I remember Tarcus being the perfect sponge, the most unkillable guy in the game you if you upgrade his health to maximum. And with Tarcus there's no need for another meat shield
>>744656920The Blood Ravens don't have the tactical genius necessary to have scout terminators.
>>744636323The thread broke before anon did.
>>744657010Thaddeus surprisingly does it amazingly well, because outside of that, he doesn't really provide actual ranged firepower to the team that isn't done better by the force commander, Cyrus, or even Tarkus with a top quality plasma gun and some grenades. Hell Dreadnaught Thule does it better while occasionally Kool-Aid manning himself through cover and smaller buildings.
>>744656920>It's criminal how they are all totally symmetrical.Oh yeah, you're right. The game's still really fun though, despite how repetitive it is.And it made me think that a Diablo/Path of Exile style game with 40k skin could absolute work because of the loot drop and leveling system.
>>744657267That game exists though. It's called Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor: Martyr. Or Warhammer Fantasy: Chaosbane if you want the non sci-fi version. Both are....okay. Not the worst ARPG I ever played but I have played better ones.
Dow2 had a super fun multiplayer, it's a shame that the only people left playing it now are playing some community tranny balance mod that fucks the game balance with retarded shit
>>744641857This is like saying being eaten by a bear is kewl because you get to be a bear.
>>744657353...I totally forgot Inquisitor - Martyr exist. I think I played Chaosbane on launch but it was insanely clunky.
>>744657524Worked for that one film director who really liked bears. Didn't work out so well for his girlfriend who was with him at the time.
>>744640192RT have their own fleets and armies, so if an Inquisitor wants to mess with one, he'd better have more ships/troops, and a LOT of proof behind him. Also, since the Imperium very much belives in guilt by association, you best belive that all the RT troops will fight to the bitter end
>>744640384
40k is lame as fuck, marines are lame as fuck, it's only good when you have a ridiculous character that basically shuts down all the dumb ass shit around them
>>744658041damn you're so cool
>>744657880I don't like how ornamental modern muhreens are. They look better in 90's getup.
>>744639667He's very cool. Also old Necrons were spooky.https://youtu.be/QPeNOEdVmbc?si=MIqbhAVWduPR-Yre
>>744656316/tg/ is worse than dead; a dead board has no one to discuss things with. /tg/, however, is anti-discussion. think of your favorite vidya that has a dedicated schizo intent on ruining each of its threads: we have one for every single thread on /tg/.
>>744658583So the old adage still has some truth? If you want to talk about a boards actual topic, go to a different board?

>>744635887One of the biggest letdowns in DoW 3 was the voice acting feeling so stiff and lifeless compared to previous entries. I hope DoW 4 gives us the sovlful voice acting back.
