Are there any other games that come close to Miyazaki’s in terms of the sense of exploration and worldcraft?

Zelda. The combat is for babbi but it's got a sense of progression through exploration and tools to open up the world. I still think 2 is the weakest Souls game overall but it has more unique and immersive levels than most of the others, to the point where I think a lot of what its areas pulled off has either not been surpassed or hasn't even been tried since then. Its world layout isn't as good as Dark Souls 1, but most locations feel extremely distinct from each other both visually and mechanically. The Gutter with its darkness you can slowly push back via the torch mechanic, the Doors of Pharros tempting you to open random shit in every direction with no idea what'll be inside, the Iron Keep with its metal paths and flamethrowers, and that's not even mentioning the DLC areas like Shulva turning into all-out Indiana Jones fuckery. DS2 has some very memorable levels, it's like if someone modeled an entire Dark Souls game after Sen's Fortress. Creative level mechanics are the one thing DS2 is truly the absolute best at.If I liked actually playing the game as much as I like exploring it, it'd rank much higher.
