I'm never listening to anyone on /v/ about "Indie gems" when they without fail shit themselves out into 1.0 half baked and unfinished.

Exanima has about ten wheels for magic trees and the game is going to release with only two.
>>
>>744638523
Even if its early access hell 1.0 never ever shit, Exanima is still better than 90% of games that have released while its been in EA.
>>
>>744638956
The latest area is just filled with copy pasted golems from previous areas, the game is very obviously being rushed to release.

Quasimorph literally just came out.
>>
Also the fact that Ostranauts actually came out in a reasonably stable state is an achievement in itself considering how messy the EA period of this game was and the dev being an autist who wanted to do something ambitious while not planning things out too well
Still don't know why he wanted to have DEEPLY SIMULATED CHARACTERS in a game that was supposed to be about salvaging spaceships
Neo Scavenger was also messy btw
>>
It's shills anyway nobody plays that garbage lol
>>
>>744640493
It's still a fucking mess
>>
>>744640779
And still better than what I expected considering the retarded development process of this game
Not great, not terrible, at least he got somewhere, 6/10.
>>
>>744638421
didn't ostranauts come out yesterday to 1.0?
>>
>>744641123
Yes it did, half baked and unfinished, which was the point of the thread.
Even the dev himself mentioned that a lot of stuff had to be cut for the 1.0 release and that they are committed to at least another year of updates.

what's the fucking point going 1.0
i guess money
>>

I give great ideas for shadows of doubt and the dev says I should nod it on myself.
Fuck off you lazy drv, I ain't developing your game for you
>>
>>744638421
I've got at least two that I know of right off the top of my head, have to think on it for more, but I know there's quite a few. Also Shadows of Doubt pissed me off so much. Amazing concept, broken mess of a release.

Mount and Blade knockoff but with modern militias. Devs folded and just pulled the unfinished game out of early access as a 1.0 release.

Game where you investigate and exterminate cryptids. Same story as above.

Honorable mention to Battlebit Theatre. 2 years without update and counting. Could have dethroned Battlefield but they shit the bed.

ostranauts seems alright for 1.0 with the stuff in it now hopefully the nigger goes back and makes a some neoscavenger dlc (please god let this happen)
>>
>>744638421
How about simply not buying early access, indie or otherwise?
>>
>>744641883
Money and pressure from the publisher most likely, Kitfox keeps pushing devs to rush out updates and 1.0 releases, which is necessarily not a bad thing considering a lot of these games would be stuck in perpetual development hell otherwise due to poor management and feature creep.
It's quite obvious that they are running out of funding as well since the 1.0 release post said that they want to keep updating the game for longer than a year if possible, but that it is completely up to the amount of sales they get.

This steaming pile of shit along with Sail the Seas from the same dev was probably the funniest case of a game getting released into 1.0 half baked and unfinished, the dev got bored of game development and just took both of them off of early access without any fanfare, the changelog for My Garage just stated "Fixed the game still being marked as Early Access".
Both games are still broken messes and nowhere near a state where they should've been taken off of Early Access.
Can't even refund this shit because I bought the game two years ago thinking it would end up leaving EA in a good state, but it didn't and Steam just automates the replies to the refund requests so they don't get the full picture of what is going on here.
I'd wager the majority of the players giving the game a positive review don't even know that this is the finished product since there was no announcement about it leaving EA or going 1.0

I got burnt around 10 years ago with this one https://store.steampowered.com/app/389040/Project_Genom/ and since then I've never bought any other early access.
Fool me once...

I really liked the concept of shadows of doubt, played a lot when I got it but then I realized how basic and unfinished it was

Calling indie games gems is failure to acknowledge the mainstream gaming industries unhealthy state and also collectively a rejection for initiation of a push to fix anything on that level. Indie will never a credible solution to anything. If it is not possible for the mainstream industry to repair itself then it's the equivalent of prescribing aspirin to cure AIDS. Perhaps the analogy is apt but deluding yourselves into thinking they are the future is where you are going wrong.
