>Thanks to fromsoft and their rabid fanbase you can't critique difficulty, the most important element of game design there is because someone will immediately interject whatever you have to say with skill issue, git gud or some other twitter gotcha buzzword

>DURR!! TOUGH BUT FAIR! DURRR!

The gameplay of most of their games is good, but pushes a bit into cheese territory with the way some enemies behave. Fuckers spend 16 minutes leaping over you and running to the other end of the arena just so you can whack it once and roll around 500 times before you do it again. Kind of wish they'd keep the emphasis on learning their move sets or reading them instead of the aerial acrobatic shit.
>>
>>744638764
>I am afraid of posting examples of what I would change because people will call me a shitter
That aside, part of the charm of the games is the difficulty, so essentially you're just arguing that they shouldn't be the genre they are because you don't like it. You can not like it, that's fine, but demanding it change to suit YOU is how we get the race to the bottom common dominator shit that gives us stuff like ubishit which is "for everyone", when in reality it's "barely tolerable for everyone".

>>744638939
See this? This is fine as criticism. Yeah, it can get tedious if the game is just an exercise in "dodge for 5 minutes and hit once because at any other point during it you'll get obliterated".
But then again you have these sorts of criticism coming from people who die like bitches to malenia, and we have videos of people doing no dodge runs demonstrating that no, it's completely doable, acquire proficiency.

>because someone will immediately interject whatever you have to say with skill issue, git gud or some other twitter gotcha buzzword
it's your fault for letting that impede you in the first place
someone who contributes something worth nothing had no value to offer you in the first place; you're doing the same fallacy that corporations do where they think pirated copies are lost sales, as if shitposts would have been genuine conversation

these hoes don't want a solution, they just want someone to talk to

Not OP, but the issue is that this kind of anti-criticism has spread over to different games nowadays. You can't complain about things like level design, some UI/UX elements being hard to read or even in the case of online games, other people being annoying or unfun to play with without some smug fucker telling you to git gud or skill issue.
>>
>>744639897
NTA, but there is a clear and distinct difference between UI being objectively garbage and “Waah, it’s too HARD!!!” The former can always be fixed while the latter is a lack of determination and adaptation to better oneself.

>You can't complain about things like level design, some UI/UX elements being hard to read
Even within froms own games that's bullshit. Do you have any idea how many people bitched about DS2 feeling like DOGSHIT to play compared to 1? But this is all contingent on what the bulk of the players feel. If you're the only one that has a problem with it, you're a shitter, get good. If literally everyone thinks it's shit, then it's bad. Somewhere inbetween is where the games fall, and it's clearly not towards the "everyone hates this" side.

Unjusifitable cancer in Elden Ring
>AI input reading
"Just some enemies do it so it's ok" is braindead. It's lazy design
>Input buffer on rolls
Dodge early, iframes run out, get hit, that's fair. Dodge on time, dodge the attack, fair
Dodge late, get hit by the attack, character gets up a second later, dodges anyway because you hit the dodge button, get punished twice for the same mistake, not fair. Especially in a game with insane input delay on all your actions. Furi it is not.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuanxLG_qPU
The enemy doesn't do a follow-up but bosses do. Also he hit dodge 4 frames early (4 frames at 30 fps is 13% of a second i.e. 0.13s which means it has a 1/8s delay on your actions). Unjustifiable laziness
>You can not position against this attack, you HAVE to roll through it
Again, peak laziness for a game that everyone praises as well designed. You should be able to play however the hell you want. Making people spam dodge in a game where you're allowed to build armour but that armour makes you dodge slower is retarded. Unjustifiable
Fromdrones will genuinely defend anything. Miyazaki could feed them his steaming turd on 2 slices of stale bread and they'd call it a skill issue when you refuse to eat it.

Ackchually, it's poorly done animation reading.

What animation did it read here?
>>
>>744639773
Sure. It's doable. But I think people excuse the stuff From soft does poorly way too easily because that's been the tone since these kinds of games first emerged. All sort of complaints have been met with over zealous fans ready to pounce on anyone for showing discomfort with anything and everything related to these types of games. Like, alright. We get it. The games are hard and shit that sucks is the order of the day, but they aren't perfect and some things kind of suck in way that wouldn't get a pass on any other game.

we need to bring back "i wish more of my bones were broken"
>>
>>744638764
my criticism is that FromSoft rides difficulty really thin to the point where the illusion that you are in the game breaks quite easily and suddenly it feels like you are playing Guitar Hero
>hit roll roll move roll move roll roll parry hit hit repeat
shit sucks, even worse with dyspraxia because you have to break the game down to basics and find ways to cheese things, then the illusion breaks

But fromsoft games are easy.
If you try to go the self-imposed challenge route and get fucked in the ass, you have no one to blame but yourself.
>>
Complaining about difficulty always boils down to just crying that you're getting filtered and want to be coddled by the game. Back in the old days people would just instantly laugh at you and call you a pussy bitch faggot then recommend you to play Barbie games instead

Back in the day, games had built-in cheats, but that is before your time.
>>
This whole thread smells like skill issue

>>744638764
Yeah, because why should I be genuine when you're disingenuous? Skill issue git guds is the best you niggers deserve.

"This video game is trivially easy and boring"
There I just critiqued difficulty
>>
>>744638764
I fucking hate this shit. Ornstein and smough is a god awful boss fight but you aren't allowed to criticise it because it's difficult. Ornstein and smough are only popular because they're the one time dark souls was actually difficult so now you're not allowed to point out that they're awfully designed, don't synergize at all and don't make sense within the lore.
>>
>>744641502
And those cheats were for kids who just wanted to screw around. Nobody minded difficult games and if someone started crying like you do he'd just get bullied. Meanwhile today when a game has the slightest amount of challenge faggots like you start bitching and moaning.
>>
>>744638764
Tell fromfag to 1cc any shumps
>>
>>744642829
cheats were for kids and casuals
if it weren't for cheats I never would've learned movement and aiming in FPS games (which I play well now)
>>
>>744643031
I have actually specifically to get you types to fuck off so you can hear this trvthnuke:
shmups are old and boring, they aren't fun to most people born after their heyday of popularity.
>>
The problem is that there are too many fucking casuals now. We failed at gatekeeping and now games have to cater to the lowest common denominator troglodyte shitters who essentially just want an interactive movie.
>>
>>744638764
>difficulty
Sloproll games aren't difficult. They're tedious. They've convinced themselves that tedious and difficult are the same thing.
