Anyone else experience something similar?

is there a mod that fixes the controls, I remember playing it for like 30 minutes but thinking the controls were goofy

you need to enter 2-3 commands about sv_friction and head bobbing etc, or better setup an autoexec.cfg so you don't have to do that every time you launch the game. Id send you mine but I'm at work. You can figure it out if you Google it

controls are fine, no amount of control changes are going to change the goofy ass combat. if you lost access to a discipline or two that is known to happen if you installed the dogshit clan quest mod
>>
yeah, that happens, but i've learned the best way to cope is to find something completely different to take your mind out of it. otherwise you just compare the somewhat similar games to that game and they just don't feel enjoyable even when you might enjoy them later with a different mindset.

Try Night Road with the VtMB OST running in the background.

People sometimes say VtMB is Deus Ex with vampires, so play Deus Ex if you haven't. There's also Bloodlust Shadowhunter which feels a bit like an indie clone of VtMB sometimes.

>>744640869
What's your issue with the controls specifically?

i highly recommend playing deus ex mankind divided. it's the closest game to vtm:b. sure the main story sucks/isn't finished, but side quests and exploration is great

Neverwinter Nights because I was a little kid when I played it and I fell in love with the clumsy elven cleric and cried a lot that she is not real

yeah if you have a drm free copy or a disc. Try playing the original Warcraft 3 if you don't have a copy or without pirating it.. Or all those remasters/remakes that nuked the original from existence

>or without pirating it
I'm not sure what you mean.

But seriously I do try to keep backup copies of the games I really like because of that shit too. Remasters are almost always broken in some way and unless there's a community patch to fix everything it ends up just being worse than the original. Good classic games end up getting more care and producing better products just with mods from fans rather than the actual companies.

I generally believe that no game that tries to follow in the footsteps of VTMB will ever retain it's atmosphere because it's largely tied to source engine visually. There's more elements going obviously with it's great soundtrack but the visuals are going to look shit on modern engines unless of course you can basically recreate it by advanced knowledge of the rendering pipeline. The reason it comes across as it does is something to do with exaggerated artistic expression that physically based lighting won't ever pick up.

I've wondered if VtMB on a modern version of Source would lose something because it's likely there would be changes to things like that.

Also a lot of modern games despite being on more "advanced" engines still don't do face animations very well, and that was a complaint about VtMB2 as well that the face animations looked kind of bad.

one of the most kino experiences in the medium

although yesterday I finished deus ex for the first time, and getting to area 51 and hearing the main theme made my smile
