I like the RuneScape protagonist if it counts.
Most of the stories come from you being an unknown, 70 iq adventurer just stumbling into trouble, and having to solve problems you created (either through incompetence or obvious manipulation). The type of guy to blindly follow the request of an evil witch just because she asked nicely.

Outside of RS3 anyway, over there it gets into "you're the super special, badass, gods-chosen hero of the world!" nonsense
