Which race had the best starting and leveling zones?
>>
Humans.

Tauren is peak vanilla kino.

Dwarves by far, also best capital city.

>the best starting and leveling zones
Gnomes/dwarves trolls/orcs had the same starting zones but overall every single race in WoW had good starting and leveling zones because each had its own strengths and themes. Personally i liked the night elf one due to the music and forest setting but i didn't dislike any other starting zones and i've played every single race and class on both factions.
>>
>>744653620
Orcs/Trolls
The fastest you could get to Lv. 60 was on a Troll Hunter
>>
>>744653620
Forsaken no contest, which is a shame because silverpine, hillsbrad, arathai and the "zone" of alterac mountains are disjointed piles of steaming garbage
>>
Durotar into Barrens and onward
>>
They're all good, but Human had the most amount of work put into it.
>>
>>744658151
>i liked the night elf one
yuck that purple-green palette is disgusting
>>
Mulgore
>endless plains of green as far as the eye can see
>Tauren are chill despite all the difficulties in their homeland, ranging from jewish dwarves, coomer harpies, genocidal quillboars to venture co trying to milk the land dry

For me its Tirisfal Glades into Silverpine on a Forsaken.
>>
>>744653620
humans had the best 1-30 experience but ironforge is the best city. luckily it is connected to SW via tram
>>
>>744653620
When I was a kid and played night elf it was just one big orgy of naked characters dancing in the city square and sex RPing

So nightelf
>>
>>744653620
Classic Human 1-30 (until the end of Duskwood and the Defias storyline) is the best experience you can have in world of warcraft.
If we're talking specifically about starting zones then for me it's Durotar, but horde has a problem that all of their questlines that begin in the starting zone like the Burning Blade one fizzle out around level 15
>>
Best on what? Feelings or mechanically?

>Feeling
Literally based on nothing but nostalgia, for me it's Durator by far

>Mechanically
Tirisfal and Elwynn are simply the best and fastest
>>
>>744662643
i've started several orcs over the years intending to level shamans, but i just cant stand durotar and orgrimmar. they are massive eyesores
>>
I like how no one is going for Night Elf. Rightfully so, their starting zone is complete ass.
>>
>>744663435
>start night elf
>friends all pick humans
doing that low lvl run across the wetlands was fucking terrifying
>>
human > dwarf > orc > undead >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> night elf

I wish undead starting zone was good but it's just this dark nothing shithole with nothing cool. Night elves are really bad, hate the aesthetic, hate that it's all gay glowing trees, hate traveling by boat just to do your level 5 or whatever quests. Hate the long narrow zones.
I don't understand why the night elf zones have to be shaped like that. The human and dwarf zones are egg shaped, basically shaped for the map to fit a regular monitor with smoothed sides. The night elf zones are just a big long road where you can't go left or right without triggering mobs.
>>
>>744653620
Humans in terms of narrative and quality of content. In terms of ambiance, you could really make a case for any of them, but it would be Forsaken imo
>>
i only played on and off for the first year but i got to experience the og barrens chat so ill go with tauren, troll, orc.
>>
i like both nelf and belf starting zones a lot
tauren is also underrated, thunderbluff is so chill prob my favorite horde city

I really like Teldrassil as a setting but the questing is probably the worst of any starting zone, and it's so disconnected from the rest of the world. The Undead can take a Zeppelin right to Orgrimmar and the Humans and Dwarves are connected by tram, but Night Elves have to make a big ass trek to get anywhere, which is kind of fun once but not repeatedly. I wish their starting experience was better cause I do think the zones are cool but it's just kind of painful. The writing is pretty bad too, a lot of what made NEs unique in WC3 was neutered, Teldrassil is supposed to be this brand new tree that was just raised but it doesn't feel like it. The corruption of the tree and the Old God plot in Darkshore don't go anywhere. They really fumbled with the Night Elves.
>>
Human zones are overrated. Elwynn is chill but really generic fantasy compared to the other starting zones. Westfall is complete ass and mogged by the Barrens in every way. Redridge is cool but a pain to get around and not enough content. Duskwood is the only truly great human zone.

Orc/troll zones on the other hand are overhated. Durotar is great, it feels like a direct continuation of the Warcraft 3 Rexxar campaign. The Barrens is one of if not the most content dense zone in the game. And then journeying into Ashenvale and skirting around the Night Elves is 10/10.

Humans.

Dwarves are shit until you get to Loch Modan

NEs have a good initial area, Darkshore is trash

I love the Horde but Durotar is garbage
Barrens are pure kino

Human and forsaken are good
Orc/trolls are okay
Shortstacks/cows suck
Elves/hornsluts are "never played enough to care", belfs seemed to at least convey the faded glory shit pretty well

Elwynn Forest feels like it was the test zone and they tweaked it until the tutorial zone was perfect. This was then perfected in Dun Morogh. I don't think the other zones had as much care as these.

I enjoy the early Human and Dwarf levelling path but it gets grim as you go on. The Horde ones get better as you get closer to 60.
>>
>>744671078
Elwynn and the surrounding areas took like 3 years to make and the rest was done in 1 year no joke
>>
>>744653620
>night elves, no humans, no forsaken, no wait it's dwarfs, no tauren...
The game is just GOATed holy fuck it's so good.
>>
>>744653620
Dwarves or Nelfs. Horde zones are anti-sovl.
>>
>>744653620
Human and undead are the 2 kino on respected sides but barrens is imo the iconic non starter zone
>>
>>744661058
This. Durotar was peak comfy
>>
I'm gonna say it, horde plain sucks.
Some later zones like barrens and hillsbrad are neat. But the Durotar and Tirisfal are both raw ass and horde have to cope by pretending Mulgore is 'comfy' when it's literally an empty green field and the only redeeming quality is not being offensively bad like the other two.

Isn't this just based on nostalgia? I remember skipping school to run around Durator as a ghost wolf farming copper, such a basic shit, but to me looking back it was the best shit ever
>>
>>744682684
no, it's based on warcraft 3
>>
Undead, Humans, Tauren
>>
>>744682684
I've played more vanilla WoW since 2015 than I ever could have when it was current. It's still a good game
>>
Started playing a gnome and Dun Morogh is great but I wish Loch Modan was also a snowy zone. There's only three snowy zones in WoW and one of them is fucking Alterac Mountains (which is kind of neat but it's way too small and has too many ogres)
>>
blood elf.
>>
>>744653620
Night Elves
>>
>>744653620
Tauren for Horde, Dwarves for Alliance.
>>
>>744653620
Humans: fantasy Forest vibes
Dwarves: Boring cold and ice
Gnomes: See above
Night Elves: Cool Dark forest but no players

Orks: See dwarves but its desert
Trolls: I forgot what they get
Undead: Edgy forests
Tauran: Generic plains

So honestly I'd say Night Elves, but at the same time you could argue that over the top fantasy design ruined WoW.

I like the night elf starting zone the most.
I have started in other stating zones just to replay them from 1-30, but I'm pretty sure I've replayed the night elf start the most.
>>
>>744654037
I think Tauren have the worst starting zone.
If you're into grasslands / plains, fair enough i guess but the zone basically has no story.
All quests are just a string of collecting animal parts for purify wells, which is never touched upon again.
Other zones at least touch upon some element that is either expanded later within the game (say Defias in Elwynn) or uses elements from WC3.

The elements set up in Mulgore are far less relevant, Venture Co. does some pollution in the Barrens but no one cares.
There's another chain dealing with the Venture Co. in Stonetalon but that chain is a huge pain with no reward.
Dwarf incursion only has a single quest chain in Southern Barrens.

generals belong in /vg/

Dun Morough>Elwynn>Mulgore>Teldrassil>Tirisfal>>>>Durotar
I started the game in 2005 to make cute sexy Night Elf girl characters as I was always doing Women chars in MMOs.
Leveled one elf to level 10 and something moved me to instead become the Dwarf Hunter on the Box art & the cinematic.
One day later ingame as my dorf I met my now best friend in Thelsamar.
So for me its Dun Morogh simply for allowing that to happen. It's also very comfortable atmospherically.

I do however rate The Human leveling experience highly and Elwynn is peak cozy.
Just as Mulgore was for the Tauren but I never became a friend to the Barrens leveling experience afterwards even though it goes quite quickly.
But if I may, TBCs Blood Elf zone is peak of it all.

I'm a Dwarfchad but I'm really torn on which race has the best leveling zone. I enjoyed Dun Morough a lot the zone music, the sound of snow falling, and the sound of walking through the snow, it was all so great. Being basically right next to the humans because of the tram was great as well. But Night Elves starting zone just feels so much better. I enjoyed the overall leveling experience a tad bit better. Maybe it was the overall color of the zone and how it felt so massive really showcasing a world tree, plus night elf girls are hot.

the horde zones were either poorly designed or depressing
dwarf zone felt like a comfy little outing with snow crunching beneath your feet and neat little caves to explore
getting to the branches in the night elf zone takes the cake though. and that unforgiving rape cave with the furbolgs was quite something as a hunter with no pet. nelf zone wins

I've always liked Darkshore the most. Fuck your minmax shit I just like the zone.
