Ignoring their infamous fandom and the negative influence they’ve had on horror, do they stand enough on their own?
>>
FNAF1, 2, and 4 were competent and unique point-and-click strategy horror games with good atmosphere. The rest were dogshit with shitty gameplay and story though

FNAF 1 had an actually intimidating horror atmosphere, said atmosphere wasn’t as strong in the next three installments but they still managed to be good puzzle games, I also appreciate the lore then for being simple and easy to follow, Sister Location and Pizzeria Simulator is when the dip in quality begins as it starts to lean into the sci-fi aspect a lot more and the lore starts to get more confusing, but I appreciate them for adding a sense of closure.

Help Wanted is a good game and terrifying if you’re playing in VR but the lore sucks shit, Security Breach is where the series jumps the shark for me as now the little creepy Chuck E Cheese franchise now has a big ass mall in the future with giant robot spiders and shit, the lore also became too confusing by that point for any non-autistic person to still care to keep up with the games.

>the lore also became too confusing by that point for any non-autistic person to still care to keep up with the games.
think it hit that point well before security breach because news flash buddy, FNAF is autism core

Fnaf had a bit of resurgence in popularity in 2020-2021 that stopped right after Security Breach released, the few fnaf fans I know now give less of a shit about the stuff made post-security breach and don’t even keep up with the lore anymore.

Yeah I think the first few games were fine. It just went down some rabbit hole of lore shittery

No

The games were never particularly amazing but the first few had cool atmosphere and lore. It went down the shitter after 3

1 is a legitimate classic
2 is flawed but still fun as long as you're not trying to 100% it
3 was a mixed bag that had good ideas and great presentation but was limited by an obviously rushed development
4 had a shaky launch, but ended up being a very soild horror game
SL was weird, it essentially functioned as a soft reboot of the story and it tried to do everything differently.
PS mostly soild horror game, the sim elements are great but the game has some meh mechanics and most of the enemies got really bad redesigns
UCN was a perfect send off to the series
Never played the phone or VR games but heard good things about help wanted
SB was an absolute mess that resulted from an obviously inexperienced studio biting off WAY more than they could chew. At least they made some sexy robots.
>>
Are there any non-FNAF mascot horror games that are good or are they all shit

If they wanted to continue the games after FFPS and UCN they should’ve just rebooted the franchise, the non-canon books have tons of great potential to be games, just adapt those.

if you wanna talk about rushed development, 2 was unimaginably so. 2-3 months for a very asset heavy game made entirely by one guy, in the pre AI era, with no stock assets (other than the music)

Fnaf ended after ucn
>>
>>744656979
It was always meh.

I actually find it impressive how FNAF 2 and 3 managed to be good games, guess it goes to show how skilled Scott was as a developer, like FNAF has an interesting success story behind it and Scott always had a knack for cool robot designs and shit that carried into his games, you don’t see that with any other derivative mascot horror games.

I really hope he decides to come back to do something other than FNAF, Desolate Hope sequel or whatever.
>>
>>744656979
>1
yeah
>2
a bit worse than 1, but still good
>3
dropped the ball, would struggle, but i think its ok
>4
yeah
>sister location
not sure, i dont like it personally
>pizza sim
yeah
>ucn
yeah
>help wanted
yeah, i consider it one of the best, and it being vr really adds a lot
>mobile
it can be a bit scary, but it isnt that good
>security breach
nah

Just like how FNAF 1 got big through 2 people on youtube, SBs hate also comes from like 30 people who didn't have the PC specs for it.
