Isn't this just always-online DRM?
yeah secondhand market is kill. RIP.
Yeah lol
Sounds like the virtual card thing on Switch, no?
>>744661579No I think this specifically means that you CAN resell it. It just removes the license from you if someone else activates your disc. Problem here of course is the fact that this system naturally requires an internet connection to work so offline play is pretty much done for. At best they'll let you play a few days offline before forcing you to go online to reactivate everything.
>>744661265>buy Xbox game physically>insert it into Series X >get digital license >give game to friend>friend disables his internet from his Xbox>plays the exact same gameIn theory, that should work, although "physical" games on Xbox have just been licenses since the Xbone.
>>744661579I've been gaming since the 80s and I've never bought second hand nor sold my games. I have no idea what kind of faggots buy's another faggots junk. Why would you want sloppy seconds? Is it a chick thing?
this would be a big deal if microsoft made good games, but they don't
>>744661265>>744661579>>744661580READ NIGGA READ
>>744662491you know you can just game share on xbox right.
>>744661265Wait, so they are taking away my ability to sell my games?
>>744661265This makes no sense and is not gonna work.
>>744662629You stupid fucking nigger, the point is to buy the game on release for 60 bucks, finish it and sell it for 55.
>>744662798Haven't bought an Xbox since the Xbox One, but isn't game sharing usually limited to one player/account/family at a time?In theory, you could play the game on two different consoles simultaneously by just disconnecting one from the internet. Can't invalidate the license when it can't even connect to Microcock's servers.
>>744662841no but now there's every chance you can buy a used game and they can arbitrarily decide you can't play it on your account, so it fucks over the buyer more than the seller
the opposite should be possible: you can revoke your digital licenses to get a free disc from xboxthis is the only way to save the brand
>>744662903I don't know what you're confused about. The license is tied to the disc. If you connect the license to your account you can play it anywhere. If you give the disc to a friend or sell it, they now have the license and you can no longer play it, just like you wouldn't be able to if you sold the disc.
>>744661265I mean yeah probably. It will probably require you to log in and check so you can't buy every Xbox game in the world, go offline, and then sell them all.
>>744665557Eh?If you use a disc, you get the license. The prior owner can’t "take it back" unless they also take the disc back.…unless the disc is copied. Huh. I wonder how they intend to address that.
>>744666796>I wonder how they intend to address that.Denuvo had activation limits where you can't install the game on more than 10 PCs in a certain time frame iirc. It might be something similar here, where you can't put the same disc into 10 different consoles on the same day or something. That'd be something for youtubers to test if they can find 11 Xbox consoles in the wild.
>>744661265just by this very brief, oversimplified and possibly misleading description, sounds really really goodbut, it's fucking microsoft, so you just know there'll be hoops to jump and pitfalls to fuck you upthe "no duplication or abuse" is already a stretch if this systems works exacly like this>insert disk>get digital license>disconnect>sell or loan diskwhat then? does the game works indefinetly while i'm offline? is there a grace period like psn with that 30 day to expire shit?
>>744662914>buying a game youll only ever play onceWhy even bother? No game worth playing isn't worth playing multiple times. Imagine playing sports one time, you kick the ball for a few hours one time and for the rest of your life you tell people you play sports and they're great.
>>744667579What gets me the most is his belief that people pay 95% of the full price for a secondhand product. You would be lucky to get $30.
>>744662079No because that's only for digital games. This is more like game keys but with normal physical games.
>>744662491>>friend disables his internet from his XboxAnon, you know it's going to have online drm preventing this.
>>744661265Not always online, but it does sound like it needs to do an online check every time you launch a physical game. Otherwise someone could just give themselves a digital license, take the system offline, and give the disc to someone else.
>>744661265Probably more of a rebrand of the 'phone home every 30 days' thing from the Xbox one reveal
>>744661265Considering the part "prior entitlement is revoked - no duplication or abuse", yeah. It would be one thing if it was just a physical disc that lets you install the game (regardless if it's on the disc or if it requires an update/content download), you need to insert the disc every time you want to play the game but if you sell the game/disc and someone else inserts the disc Into another console, then that person can play the game in the same way, that's what discs for PS4, Xbox Series X etc already do or how they work, every game requires installation and every disc creates a digital copy of the game, but that last part...yeah, that doesn't sound good...
Steam and Pc.ucks are the ones to blame for this.I'm glad PC parts became too expensive for people so PCs will cease to exist in a few years and Valve is about to be destroyed by lawsuits from all around the globe.
>>744661265Isn't this just the thing they tried to do with the Xbone? If you give someone your disc they would have to buy the game to use it.
>>744661265>isn't this what they were planning to do with the xboner?yes. rest in piss, xjeet
how does this work. Unless it's writing data to a disk, and as far as I'm aware most disks aren't writable, at least the kind games come on aren't, so how is the disk tracked from person to person? It makes no sense
>>744661265yeah this means you can't play xbox without a Microsoft account because playing offline won't be allowedvery bad
>>744667960So crack it...?>>744669682Uh-oh, melty.
>>744670875Jewish online servers, like Shitny's, Shittendo, and Steam's that keep track of what the goyim are allowed to playAnd don't get too uppity or your money will get stolen
