If I wanted to play something like 4 but actually good I'd be much quicker to pick up Abiotic Factor or some such.Best overall experience? I'd probably give it to 2 because it's got that janky crpg nostalgia to it while still being quite a bit more enjoyable mechanically than 1. But it has some dumb stuff too.To be honest the series has never been particularly amazing. The idea of the setting is just really great and caries tge games but none of the games have ever come close to fully capturing certain things the audience clearly wants out if it.
