so what's the /v/erdict on the direction of splatoon raiders?
should it get a sequel or should we just go back to mainline pvp slop

They'll most definitely continue to make both, so it doesn't really matter.

I feel like Raiders is the team wanting to do Side Order but better. PvP’s a mainstay and Salmon Run will probably incorporate Raiders elements, not just enemies but I suspect stuff like weapon loadouts and mods and more progression. But I’m not really sure if there’s a need for a Raiders 2.
>>
I'd say we're more likely to get more spin off games like Raiders than DLCs like Side Order. Players are very open to the devs taking the IP in new directions but Side Order was just too small in scope to keep people interested.
>>
>>744668357
Why did they make her so damn fuckable?
>>
i think itd be cool to have a cod zombies type splatoon where you have to surve salmonoids for as long as possible while completing tasks and unlocking areas on a huge map. although i think it should be more clear what those objectives are compared to cod. like it shouldnt be clear right away it might take a bunch of rounds camping outside a point to figure out what the game wants but from ehat i remember the easter eggs in cod were obscure nonsense for the most part
>>
why are you all suggesting different ideas for splatoon spinoffs when the spinoffs will just entirely be the raiders series.

I'm worried Raiders success means Splatoon 4 won't have a single player mode and will be a fully online shooter.

With Raider's success. What are the chances of Splatoon getting one spinoff for each mainline numbered title moving forwards?
>>
>>744684704
we're getting raiders 2, not a new type of spinoff.
they're not abandoning deep cut
>>
>>744684704
Raiders is a salmon run spin off. splatoon 4's spin off will be a tableturf game.
>>
>>744684704
I think it's very high. Unlike mainline titles, Raiders isn't expected to receive regular post-launch updates, the devs can jump straight to the next project. I also think they're a bit hesitant to churn out mainline titles considering 3 only barely matched 2's sales in the end, despite having a massive launch month. Having multiple mainline titles on one system doesn't do Splatoon very many favors.

My thoughts on raiders:

For better and for worse, they chose to go all in on maximal fun all the time.
The game has insane mobility options, very little to no downtime between waves of enemies, and no objective types (in regular levels) that may bog the game down like push the payload, tower defense or stealth sections; only 'kill everything' (outside of the dedicated puzzle levels which are great).

The cost of this is that a lot of the mechanics that make Splatoon what it is are minimized.
Inking does not matter anymore, like at all. There is no concept of terrain control; between Jump Boots, Flywire, Splattelites, the Vortex, etc. you are never fighting for the land just as much as you are the enemy. You're pretty much always in the air, moving really fast, hell one of the tanks even lets you swim through dry land/Salmonid ink and its effect is spammable.
Most weapons that aren't high dps/good at mob control are completely shit in this environment, like chargers. Stuff like chargers could have had a chance to shine if there were objective types that required a player to approach them in a more measured way.

It's inconvenient to get stuck in enemy ink, to have tot slow down and plan around terrain hazards, or have objectives that require a more delicate approach than 'blast everything, fill screen with numbers"/
Splatoon Raiders is super dopaminemaxxed, it feels like playing a game you like but with cheats/mods where you've broken the fundamental rules and go crazy. And don't get me wrong, the variety in Salmonid Boss types still makes moment to moment gameplay require more thought than any other looter shooter I've played recently. But I think the game could've been even richer and have had even more depth. Though I wonder if that's incompatible with loot-based design.

But I'm weak, as I did enjoy it more than Octo Expansion which was focused on level design over 'number go up'. Raiders is good and I'm glad it exists.

>Most weapons that aren't high dps/good at mob control are completely shit in this environment, like chargers.

15 ish hours, much more if you're doing post-game or even just getting to the secret boss
took me 50 hours to get all treasure as there's a ton of repeatable content you can do to get stronger and there's a dungeon with infinite floors
i recommend checking out the post-game even if just a little, it's very different to the main game because the game adds new mechanics to the mix to customize your build
>>
>>744687058
forgot to add the game has a hard mode to select from the start if you want a bit of difficulty the game forces it on you for the post-game stuff
>>
>>744687170
What does hard mode change? Is it fun or is it like Botw where all the enemies have more HP and nothing else?
>>
>>744686379
charger is the only weapon in the game to make it to 900f+ of the buffet
>>
>>744687239
enemies move faster and do more damage, no change to health
>>
>>744687239
they deal more damage and are slightly faster, i don't think they have more HP. the only thing that gives them more HP is co-op or doing the dark souls summon help thing.
either way it keeps the game a lot more engaging for me atleast, but might be too hard for beginners to splatoon

>>
>>744687663
Looks really unfun.
How are they flying like that? I haven't played the game yet.
>>
>>744687709
You get gadgets and gadgets can be customized freely with parts that do different things like add damage or in this case makes you float. It is a cherry picked video because not all enemies are able to be knocked back by the torq but it is still funny.
>>
>>744687567
cheesing a specific dungeon that only spawns spring salmon by sticking a fan to the wall and hovering just off the edge of the stage, the horde of jumping fatsos gradually push each other off the edge. and you get their large power egg for free.
>>
>>744687874
So you can float forever in this game? Doesn't that make swimming redundant.
>>
>>744669875
there is nothing gay about my weyyo showing off a little tum alright?
>>
>>744687663
eh, this isn't meta really, the webm is just the super spicy Strobborro dungeon, which you can clear pretty easily just with normal tactics.

It is used in super post endgame dungeon, but that's like floor 400+ well beyond what a sane person would play.
>>
>>744687950
Still need to land to refill ink.
Also while flying around is good, this webm is from a gimmick dungeon where all the enemies are from the same family of spring guys. it wouldn't work that well on a normal level.
>>
>>744687950
>float forever
Yes but it is endgame and wouldn't be optimal for all maps or enemies. The webm shows type of spring based enemy when there are others that are static or flying or grounded
>redundant
Mobility in air is far more limited than swimming. That gadget is the only one that lets you fly like that.
>>
>>744688230
>>744688259
Idk, the gadgets don't seem very fun.
I think I'm gonna pass on this game, Salmon Run single player sounds good, but I'm not a fan of the execution so far.
>>
>>744688380
Gadgets are the good part. It's the damage sponges that aren't fun.

I’m too early in the game to know that for sure, sorry anon. It would be weird if it didn’t apply to all arrows though.
>>
>>744688950
Just one, it's terrible for anything that isn't a charger, stringer or blaster.
>>
>>744688950
it applies to every hit in a burst, so weapons like the stringer or brella get the full bonus, it isn't good for shooters or anything that attacks rapidly.
>>
>>744682130
Mouse controls will likely be a selling point for Splatoon 4 and the devs didn't want to introduce an entirely new control scheme in a spinoff.

Late on this but it's their entire culture. They idolize the circle of life and so both the act of eating and being eaten are sacred to them, so they have no qualms about assaulting other species to devour them or getting killed in turn. The more delicious a Salmonid, the stronger it is.
>>
File: 1.jpg (294 KB, 1249x936)

The end game grind is fundamentally flawed. The bottomless buffet is the only stage with any difficulty, yet there's no unique loot. And you get no benefit for going deeper. I'm at floor 500 where seasoned enemies have tens of millions of health and can one-shot you. The drops, however, are the same as lv.80 maps. I don't even notice a drop rate increase.
