Installing Morrowind Mods feels like...
>>
>>744671047
I was on the cusp but I feel like it changes the game too much. What's weird is how there is still not one good animation pack for unsheathed weapons characters. The restrictions the original engine had for animations should be no issue in OpenMW.
>>
>>744669457
the first time I modded Morrowind a lot she was disgustingly HOT and I loved her. Now I don't give a fuck, I play with vanilla friendly heads and haven't decided which Dunmer girl I like most

Aren't the Hlaalu secretly against outlanders and just biding their time before genocideing everyone? Or is that because the Camonna Tong has them by the balls and in reality they're outlander loving woke faggots?

I don't remember their lore and I'm trying TR after way too many years of not touching it, so far I have only done a couple quests in Old Ebonheart namely with the painter that you need to get skooma for and with an Argonian whos trying to flee there. I haven't noticed much else about it other than obvious giveaways like new NPCs that are there just to offer tips for and or transportation to the mainland. I'm leaving the TR stuff for after finishing the main quest

Depends on the councilor. Orvas Dren wants outlanders dead to the point he'll ally with Dagoth Ur and he runs half the house behind the scenes. Clearly someone like Curio is a more cosmopolitan type.

Pretty much what I use too but I decided to try some big packs and see what it is all about.

Honestly?
Graphics Overhaul,Just Beautiful Morrowind,Just Good Morrowind all sucked MAJOR ass for various reasons. Might as well play Oblivion at this point.

The starter pack though, It's fucking great. I heart vanilla-directo's cut are both basically what you play yourself so they are also great.

I'm only mentioning openmw lists because I don't like MGEXE, I've used it for years and never managed to make Morrowind look and run as good as OpenMW. It either looks ass or runs at 40 fps in my experience.
>>
>>744675175
I aim for 60fps but I still get short drops to 56fps in weird outdoors areas (maybe it's the NPCs idk).
OpenMW might be a bit better than MGEXE but it's far from optimized and Morrowind's assets are also not very optimized.
Looking upwards through a waterfall for example tanks fps even though realistically you rarely do it.
Try this:
https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/59700
Even disregarding occlusion culling for draw distance the soft shadow shaders just look and run better.

>>
>>744681096
How about limiting themselves to adding new cities and exploring all that instead of going back and fucking with the main quest, reworking Tribunal and adding a new epilogue to the game? Even the Nerevar bonewalker in Necrom reads like fanfic. Feels like the devs have been showered with nothing but toxic positivity since 2018 from e-celebs and reddit for so long they're genuinely beginning to believe all they add to Morrowind is canon and they're now taking stances on established stuff.

The most controversial bit of Morrowind lore...
>>
>>744679049
Narsis feels like fanfic, too. Sorry but if Morrowind establishes Vivec to be one of the biggest and most important cities in the East, a city created for and ruled by one of your country's living gods, you cannot make then make the Hlaalu capital mog it. Being able to doesn't mean that you should do it.
>>
>>744682180
Every single Hlaalu town and house shouldn't have 10 slaves in it, no. If Tamriel Rebuilt had made Balmora, there'd be a slave market next to Caius' house and the Hlaalu Council Manor would be full of Khajiit and Argonian slaves.
>>
>>744681794
>>744682225
I think TR content should be experienced after completing the base game. The new NPCs that spawn in order to offer a gateway to mainland aren't jarring but exploring the mainland early really does break the immersion.

After visiting a couple cities, even though they were cool and had nice quests and stuff I felt I had taken a portal into another game so I went back to Vvardenfell. TR isn't bad but since it feels like Morrowind II I'll play it after my run is complete in the base game. I'll just keep it installed for later
>>
>>744682512
Narsis having its slave market right at the entrance on the purple road is so stupid. Very good impression to make on the merchants coming from Cyrodiil.

Post where he said that.
>>
>>744683321
Yes it was, and dont hit me with that bullshit revisionism.
The dev team was forced to make it WORSE than what they wanted even then, because the netimmerse engine and hardware couldn't handle it.
Vivec was envisioned as open air like Ald'ruhn, which is why the interior of the upper level has all those houses in awkward domes.
As it is the exterior is spacious but lifeless

Vivec was the ORIGINAL bethesda problem of cucked cities that are too small.
The one they never ever managed to deal with, despite making an attempt in oblivion
>>
>>744683329
Not what I said. Try entering Narsis from the Purple Road, the slave market will be one of the first buildings in view. The Hlaalu are supposed to be clever merchants, right? The Imperials are appalled by slavery so it would be good for business to keep that kind of thing tucked away, or at least not the first thing they see when they enter the city.
>>
>>744683712
>appalled by slavery
fucking tourists lmao
The East Empire Trading company has zero issues with profitable business, just like any corporation, and the vast majority of all imperial traders see it no differently.
The Hlaalu plantations rely HEAVILY on slavery and yet they are the ones seeing the most trade with the empire.
Shut the fuck up with your fanfiction.
>>
>>744683550
>the netimmerse engine and hardware couldn't handle it.
2002 limitations which everyone had to stomach. Given that, Vivec is fine. Unless you know a way they could've made it with those limitations in place. Why are you complaining about something that wasn't possible 24 years ago? Do we complain about the stupid Greeks not taking frigates with turrets and missiles to Troy? No.
>>
>>744684186
>retard has shifted the argument entirely
nobody said they should have made it better dumbass.
Nobody is complaining that it wasnt possible.
The state of the city of Vivec, regardless of what was possible, is that of a cucked and shrunken city compared to what it is supposed to be and what the devs originally hoped they could pull off.

Now stop bitching that OTHER cities get to be bigger like they SHOULD be.
>>
>>744684150

As far as the dark elves are concerned in Morrowind, seeing humans as PEOPLE is a novel idea.

The Empires wants to try and make business/imperialize Morrowind in any way they can, be it through their legion, cult or working with the one House that works with them. Doesn't mean they're okay with everything Hlaalu stands for, and that's stated time and again in the basegame.
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Generic_Dialogue_S
>"Slavery is protected by law in Morrowind. Slavery is illegal throughout the Empire, and considered barbaric. Slavery had disappeared in Sumerset Isles and Valenwood long before their incorporation into the Empire. Most Imperial citizens assume the practice will die out as Morrowind adopts Imperial ways, and the subject excites little passion except among Argonian and Khajiit abolitionists, outraged that the Empire does little to suppress persistent illegal cross-border slave raiding in southern Morrowind"

>>744671594
In official lore, Hlaalu is mostly full of opportunistic merchant-like personalities who genuinely see Empire as an opportunity for themselves, and then at the same time Camonna Tong is also using them as a tool through Orvas Dren’s connections. Which ended up being costly to them when Vvardenfell went to hell later on, as the more anti-Empire houses really punished Hlaalu for their pro-Empire stance.

The new TR Indoril tileset is so aesthetically pleasing
It's a shame we'll have to wait 8-something years before they finally tackle the Stronghold, but I'm sure modders will come up with a few player home mods until then

>>744686183

any hlaalu town that has farming is gonna have a few slaves, retard.
Balmora doesn't have slaves because it has no farming, and is purely administrative/trading.
Once again, a retarded tourist can't even remember that the BASE GAME has a hlaalu town without slaves.
>>744686405
More nonsensical garbage.
Ok so you are a retarded ESL.

I guess having speechcraft is unnecessary if you also have illusion but I don't really know what to fill out the rest of the minor skills with.
>>
>>744687042
It is just baffling to me that some people can be so stupid and retarded that they cannot comprehend foreign cultures like the imperials and the dunmer.
They think it impossible that people can find something barbaric but not appalling, and just not care about it and happily trade with them.
Meanwhile that shit goes on all the time IRL.
We still happily trade with people that unironically keep slaves and other traditions we find barbaric.
And like with slavery in Morrowind, only a tiny minority give a fuck.

I have a folder in c:/ where I put all the mods, inside just a folder with the mod's name and in it the things that normally go to data files like the textures and meshes folders etc. You insert mod directories in a tab in openmw launcher. Theres a script that automates everything but it relies on lists and is useless outside of that called momw

Personally I don't like installing 500 mods and I'm perfectly content with my setup. I spend 2-3 hours to finish it and now I'll never change it
>>
>>744687486
Nowadays you usually boot the launcher and click Append in the Data tab. You navigate to the mod file and it's done. If it has an esp you enable it from the launcher as well. Mod order is simply dragging things up and down.
>>
>>744687675

There should really be as much debt slavery (as in actual, put you in debtor's prison to tan skins and make matches debt slavery, not current year debt slavery) in depictions of the TES Empire as there is chattel slavery in Morrowind. If there's no "fresh start" oriented bankruptcy law, that's what happens, and it should be obviously integrated into industry the same way. That's another reason people weren't that buttblasted about slavery IRL, because they saw de facto legit slavery everywhere.

I think they're abusing the "seamless integration" thing with this argument because that's mostly advertised to apply to gameplay, as in how you can go back and forth freely and earn faction rep and there's even dialogue changes to account for it. How seamless the game is when it comes to quest design and things like that isn't even a settled topic in TR development history. This mod is a bunch of different layers of history stacked on top of each other sometimes with old layers being reworked to meet new standards and the standards have changed over time. Old Ebonheart is a big example that they of course bring up first which sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the newest updates, and that's partially because the newer updates from the past few years are doing it so much better and OE being a pain point that no one is perfectly happy with.

I also flat out don't agree with the idea that Bethesda wouldn't have made things more fantastical with more set pieces if they had the time. Which isn't even their argument, they just want you to gloss over that and treat what we ended up with as the definitive vision of Morrowind was supposed to be, despite all of the internal dev evidence that they originally had much bigger plans. The biggest obviously being making the mainland itself.

The poster doesn't even bring up the different circumstances with how Morrowind was developed with a deadline, having to release on an underpowered console, with desperate last minute additions like the Imperial Cult quests for example. Probably because it would hurt to argument to speculate on what Morrowind could have been if they had the luxury that the TR team has using modern tools targeting toaster specs on an established engine. If Bethesda had a decade to cook we would have had an insane game in more ways than one.

They will most likely not care about the lives of beast men, both because it's not their problem and the Imperial public canonically doesn't care that much about slavery as said in the quote you posted, and because they're human nobility from eastern Tamriel and thus very likely employ Argonians under questionable conditions themselves, as described in material like the Argonian Account books.

What are the chances that this guy is just an Imperialfag that's pissed off about them sticking to a nuanced depiction of imperial attitudes towards slavery (which is taken directly from information present in the base game) instead of portraying his favorite race as the hecking wholesome objectively good boyos and the protagonists of the franchise like he was probably told in some Skyrim Civil War thread
>>
>>744671132
I wish Morrowind felt like this
>>
>>744685780
but that quote literally says that the imperial government does little to stop slavery even when it directly affects a province where it's illegal and that it's mostly just khajiit and argonians who have strong feelings about the issue in the wider empire...

This is what I loved about Morrowind. The characters are self-centred and live in their own little worlds. They couldn't give a fuck about you, or Dagoth Ur, or the Nerevarine. They're all just looking to get ahead in whatever station of life they have found themselves, and their only interactions with you are geared towards helping them achieve that. Completely different to Skyrim guards jerking you off about how you're a super cool dragonborn chosen one.
>>
>>744697992
probably that.
he comes off as some sort of political type who cannot separate his own morals from that of a fantasy world.
so he is REALLY just mad that imperials don't adhere to HIS personal morals.
morals of a relatively wealthy, privileged, first world citizen of a wealthy country.

>>
>>744670862

>>
>>744700074
nothing, if you are a well-adjusted person who can accept that romans don't fully align with modern moral standards.
romans had plenty of slaves as well.
anyways, the imperials just happen to be fairly mercantile minded and have leveraged this to great success after their empire was founded.
This naturally means that in order to expand their influence, they tolerate a certain level of cultural difference in order to keep trade and relations going.
Especially with an insular nation like vvardenfell during the time of morrowind.
They are making money and exporting culture, trusting time to smooth things over because Dunmer culture isn't bleeding into imperial culture.
So slaves literally are not a big deal, and in the meantime they can make money, keep the peace, expand their reach, and have a potential ally if someone else decides to pull some bullshit.

>I'm leaving the TR stuff for after finishing the main quest
This seems like a really bad idea given the overwhelming majority of TR content is tailored for early game characters.
>>
>>744682512
>Every single Hlaalu town and house shouldn't have 10 slaves in it
They don't, though.
>>
>>744701537

It can be, depending on how you like to play. You would be significantly overleveled for a good chunk of the content. The two best ways to approach it is either incorporate it in a playthrough with the main game, particularly if you choose to only specialize in a few guilds.

The other way and one that in my experience is a way to really immerse yourself in TR is to lock yourself entirely to the TR region. I had a blast on my previous character starting in Old Ebonheart and working my way through a lot of the newer areas. Spent 70 hours on that play through and still barely scratched the surface. Would recommend.
>>
>>744694518
Are you allowed to sell items to the same merchant you bought them from? Because that's when the merchant build gets broken.
>>
>>744700309
Supply chest I assume.
>>
>>744702439
>Spent 70 hours on that play
I don't know how anyone can do this. I'm massively overpowering pretty much everything after completing a single questline and a handful of miscellaneous quests. Even when intentionally avoiding trainers. The gear progression alone will break the game in no time.
>>
>>744679049
This post is just an extension of that one guy's argument that he doesn't WANT TR to exist and expand the mainland, he wants them to do new quests for Vvardenfell. That's the root of his every complaint.
>>
>>744689472
is this achievable natty?
>>
>>744700467
The Redoran Council moved to Ald-Ruhn recently to confront the Dagoth-Ur issue, but the traditional seat is Blacklight.
>>
>>744702439
>The other way and one that in my experience is a way to really immerse yourself in TR is to lock yourself entirely to the TR region.
Yeah, or at least starting on the mainland.
>>
>>744703615
Ah so it is the current seat of Redoran power like I thought, just not the traditional one.

>Also looks retarded.
Why? Care to use your words?
>>
>>744683321
i think vivec is still rather big just for the levels as well. people underestimate the sewers and plazas. narsis is still gigantic and how the other anon said, its more like a morrowind II experience. i also agree one should first play the vvardenfell stuff if he hasnt before, but for a second playthrough its fine to go to bal foyen or old ebonheart first
>>
>>744706918
Because judging by Vivec and Molag Mar canton-based cities like those are specifically designed to be built on the water, presumably both for defensive purposes and because it's more impressive that way, and the ships can pass without trouble since it's a pretty wide river that's logically even wider in-universe and the bridge is high up on the highest level of the canton and on the cliffsides

>>
>>744681096
There's a happy middle ground between "no content" and "too much content". I'm personally happy that they're willing to make and give so much, but I feel like it's just gotten too big. It might sound silly, but it's absurd that you need to play for 20-60 hours to experience everything Vvardenfell has to offer, while mainland Morrowind takes incalculable hundreds if not thousands of hours. Keep in mind it's still growing, too. And if all that content was genuinely good it'd not be a problem, but a lot of it is just kind of filler content. Like it's big for no reason at this point.

Even more importantly than that, there's limited dev time and resources. It's a fragile project, we're betting it all on no one important dying before the full release because if they do it could result in major delays or even another collapse of the project. And we still have about 5-10 years before that release. The makers should really prioritize having all of Morrowind done and being high quality, rather that 60% of Morrowind being done with mediocre quality but with more content than most players will ever see.
>>
>>744712313
partly, but people like orvas dren still run the show in the background and they clearly arent sympathizers. the hlaalu are essentially a front for the mafia and nationalists that would take over the minute the empire faces a crisis. if todd didnt nuke morrowind, they'd be practically empire free during/after the oblivion crisis. that would mean killing and taking over any remaining sympathizers and garrisons/imperials etc.
