2 is better IMO but I always was annoyed that people hand waved SR1 away as completely irrelevant dogshit because it was "just a GTA clone"

It was still a great game and a lot of the pieces for the series to get better were already in place for later games to take and run with.

Shame the fucking series only has 2 good games

DS2s art direction and level design as well as gameplay are really bad also

DS3 is ok, but even with really good graphics they highlight the parts where the developers cut corners graphics wise and it really stands out, but I guess that Dark Souls in general. At least DS1 could pass it off as the first Dark Souls so it's ok unlike the dumpsterfire that's DS2.
