It's 2026, why the fuck do you not own a CRT yet? You're dangerously close to getting priced out permanently.
>>744679512i have 3
>>744679512I'm not a tranny or zoomer.
enjoy you're burn-in
>>744679512I live in an area where nobody just throws them out so the only option is paying $200 minimum for one And I frankly don't need one, shaders get the job done
Can someone give me $2000 for my BVM 20F1U I got for $100 14 years ago already
>>744679512Because I can't find a good one
because crts were a thing when i was young and those are ass
>always enjoyed PS2 games but thought they looked like shit>even using my RetroTink on my 4k OLED they looked like blurry garbage>finally hook it up to my CRT monitor using component -> Tink -> HDMI -> HDMI to VGA convertor -> monitor's VGA port>looks fucking amazing, literally jaw dropping, like stumbling upon an oasis in the desertHoly SHIT. Never fall for the CRT disinformation shills.
>>744679512I don't see it. I don't think it's that big of a deal if some pixels are off or different looking.
>>744679512I don't have agp
>>744681714It's kinda just a novelty now. Like during Christmas season, I'll turn off all the lights except for Christmas lights and pull out my PS1, and play things like RE2 on the CRT. It looks really crisp, and it's a special time. I made it a seasonal event. It's not necessary to play these games, though.
>>744679739>enjoy you are burn in
>>744681901It's so cool. I can imagine the moment.
>>744681714Some games do look much better. Is it worth dealing with an ancient CRT that could take a shit at any time? No
>>744679512>You're dangerously close to getting priced out permanently.Horse shit.Just scored a 68cm component LG CRT on facebook for a couple of hundred australian bucks. The only way you're gonna get """priced out""" is if you do something stupid and buy a broadcast monitor off ebay. Broadcast monitors are fucking stupid.
I'm already priced out of getting a good one. Maybe if my pokemon cards sell I'll be able to buy one. Are the Snubble cards worth anything?
>>744679512>You're dangerously close to getting priced out permanently. Not really. Old people still throw perfectly good ones out all the time. You can find them in dumpsters if you know where to look.
>>744680217PS2 over component is the sharpest-looking console ever. I never understand what people are talking about when they call the PS2 "blurry", unless they're talking about textures.
>>744679512Priced out? They're literal trash that get thrown away and forgotten in recycling centers.People should be paying ME to get them out of their hands.
>>744686450yeah the shitty sylvania and sanyo ones. Not the actual good ones like Sony, Toshiba, JVC, PVMs, etc. are getting destroyed by anyone with a brain between their earsPlus, the limited supply of them is what contributes to their rarity and increased price.
Got mine, and aside from consoles I also use it to watch VHS, very comfy.
>>744681981>he isn't get it
CRTs are larpshit for people who don't play games but really like purchasing objects.
>>744687101nobody in real world cares about that autistic shit. very niche group and those can circlejerk themselves for all i care
>>744687404It's a fucking TV, a major component in playing console games.
>>744687643>sell for $500-2000+ >nobody cares!!!!seethe. And yes, post more people destroying them, only makes my CRTs more valuable.
>>744679512>just buy this piece of obsolete garbage broI have zoomer fatigue
>>744679512because they provide no marginal utility or enjoyment.
>>744687656you know what plays console games way better? an emulator, outputting supersampled 16k > 4k at high framerate to a OLED or a strobed LCD. this will look better than any CRTs, which have to choose between refresh rate or resolution.
>>744688062CRTs have better motion clarity than an 360Hz OLED, and better input lag too. Keep coping though.
here's mine
>>744679512>heavy>noisy>blurry>no 4k>no 240hz>low brightness>burn-in >quadruple the power draw>loses contrast and brightness over timeCRTphiles are pathetic
>>744688138>CRTs have better motion clarity than an 360Hz OLEDno they don't. a 60hz display will never have better motion clarity than the 600hz+ displays that exist today. you are confusing persistence with motion clarity. obviously you are not getting better motion clarity out of a display that literally updates 10 times less.
>>744688201The fact that you think CRT's are locked to a fixed refresh rate says more than enough.
>>744684763because it looked like shit compared to Xbox and Gamecube
CRTroons will literally only collect obsolete tech and show the opening title screen or demo and then shut it off and go goon in Discord servers for the rest of the day. A few adventurous ones might even play the first 15 minutes
>>744679512>12 years old lcd>pc with emulator>bilinear filtering>windowed modeYep, it's retrogaming time.
>>744679512I do own one, thoughbeit.
>>744681901That’s cool. I have a fantasy of playing that on the floor of an old cabin in the woods
i have absolutely no interest in ever owning one
>>744688201>what is persistence blurRetard. Your eyes can more clearly see details of CRT strobed 60Hz than it can of an OLED at 360Hz. That's the point. We had perfect clarity and extremely low input lag with CRTs then spent decades regressing, and are only now getting anywhere remotely near what we had (on PC at least, consoles are still laggy pieces of shit, with usually 100ms+ of input lag)
>THIS IS HOW GAMES WERE MEANT TO BE PLAYED AND VIEWED CHUD>posts pic of GBA game on the screen
>>744679512I grew up with CRT's and I'm not going back to that shit.
>>744688254notice how i never said that you you invented it in your diseased 80IQ spicmutt zoomer brain?>this will look better than any CRTs, which have to choose between refresh rate or resolution.refresh rate and resolution are a linear tradeoff against each other in CRTs. you can have 540p output (or 1080p in very rare/expensive CRTs) at 60-90hz, or 120p at 240hz. it's a horrible tradeoff, and one i don't have to make with my nice modern 600hz monitor or my 4k 240hz monitor etc. you know what else i don't have to worry about?- 25yo electrolytic capacitors exploding and burning down my house- phosphor that's been raped and burnt in by 20,000 hours of being plugged in and displaying a calibration screen in the AV room of a news agency (if you purchase PVM or BVM it *will* have this, even if the seller has reset the hours-powered-on diagnostic register)>high frequency 21khz transformer noise damaging my hearing without being able to detect it
>>744688456>Your eyes can more clearly see details of CRT strobed 60Hzyou're just saying random words. CRTs don't strobe, it's a scan line display.stop using words you saw in articles without understanding them, cargo cult vocabulary is the most embarrassing sign of an idiot. but then, it's no surprise that a CRT "fan" is a fraud: your entire interest came from watching youtube videos of your favorite e-celeb
>>744688549he's gonna ask you what a cargo cult is next
>>744688181wuts da shader?
>there are actually CRTfags who got so confused by Blur Busters copypastes that they think a display which delivers *TEN TIMES* more information (and at much higher resolution, so really more like 30-40 times more information) but with a tiny invisible amount of persistence blur (in OLEDs and strobed TNs) has lower motion clarity than a display with delivers a fraction of the information without the persistence blurkekthe peasants were never meant to learn how to read & write, they just add noise
>>744688484I have a 4k/240Hz OLED monitor. Almost any CRT will still mog it when it comes to playing 480p and below. Imagine being a poorfag.
>>744679512I was born in the 80s and remember CRTs and being absolutely blown away by HD tv. I don't want to go back thanks, if need be I'll play retro games with a CRT filter.
>>744688717there are like six games below 480p worth playing, all time
>>744688549The way that CRTs draw the line is a form of strobing, equivalent to over 1000Hz strobing from BFI implementation on a traditional monitor.
>>744688717my monitors cost significantly more than your entire computer, and i also do in fact own CRTs (9" and 14" PVMs - which i purchased a decade ago as e-waste before tards like you were watching youtube videos about CRTs)
>>744679512That's not how it works. Once they become sufficiently profitable, a factory in China will spring up that starts shitting them out again.
>>744688780Least obvious bait on 4channel in the big 26
big screen better
>>744688358I use to play Dark Souls on my CRT back when but honestly 360 and up are just better on flat screens
>>744688884you would need billions of dollars to restart CRT production. the best hope is SED being revived, or one of the CRT-like technologies that use lasers instead of electron beams. palmer luckey briefly talked about having plans to do something along those lines
Because it's 2026. Stupid fucking zoomers, always glamorizing garbage tech they aren't old enough to have actually experienced.
>>744688484> it's a horrible tradeoff, and one i don't have to make with my nice modern 600hz monitor or my 4k 240hz monitor etc. This implies that 60, 90, or 120hz on a CRT is 1:1 equal in motion and feel to the same values on a non-CRT which is isn't. Also good fucking luck hitting 600fps to utilize that entire 600hz refresh rate whereas I can easily shit out 100fps for 100hz at 1600x1200. >you know what else i don't have to worry about?>0.01% chance events>>744688930For CRT TV's, definitely, they suck dick. CRT Monitors have their uses though.
>>744687742>>just buy this piece of obsolete garbage broYou will own nothing, and you will be happy.
>>744689039>Also good fucking luck hitting 600fps to utilize that entire 600hz refresh ratethere isn't a single decomp that doesn't easily run at 600fps even when downscaled from like 8k
If you ever got rid of a CRT you do not deserve a new one.
if you ever got a crt you should be in a retirement home
>>744688864All those monitors are $500 or under lmao. I have a 4k 240Hz OLED MPG 321URX, but I do most of my gaming on my ViewSonic CRT, my Trinitron, my A95L, or my C4>540Hz>at fucking 1080p>on a fucking garbage ass TN panelLMAOholy fucking consoomer retard. The diminishing returns hit hard after even just 120Hz, let alone 240Hz. That's full autismo CSGO spastic tier. I certainly hope you're in esports or something buddy, someone better be paying you well to play on such a shitty monitor. Going for .001% better motion clarity and input lag for significantly worse picture quality. Meanwhile it still gets mogged by a random shitty $20 CRT on FB marketplace hahahaha
>>744689241>there isn't a single decomp that doesn't easily run at 600fps even when downscaled from like 8kOkay, and modern games?
>>744687742>obsoleteThey're inefficient and unwieldy, but they can't be obsolete because what they do well hasn't been replicated or replaced.
Because I'm a jobless poorfag. I don't even have money for food.
>>744679512Will you faggots give it a rest? Nobody wants a damn CRT.
>>744689765but anon I need to convince gullible zoomers who never lived through the era that they're quite "kino"! how else will I inflate the prices so I can sell my old pieces of shit for a big profit?
CRT shaders are good enough for me.
>>744689389>All those monitors are $500 or under lmao.>PG248QPthe only 540hz strobed OLED with a gsync module. $1k new, unobtanium now. rapes every CRT in existence in terms of motion clarity>MA270UP$600could little zoomzoom be living in a false reality?> The diminishing returns hit hard after even just 120Hz, let alone 240Hz. spoken like the sort of retard who1. has never seen a refresh rate above 902. couldn't afford it3. wastes his turd world paycheck on CRTs he got scammed into buying by youtubers
>>744689389That TN has better color gamut and view angles than almost all IPS panels. High-end TN is really good nowadays. Poorfags wouldn't know about it

>>744689930I lived through the era and I have never found a TV better than my CRTs

>>744690175>only 540hz strobed OLEDNigga that trash is TN lmao
>>744691023>illiterate zoomoid>"nigga"ayup it's a 15yo spicmutt
>>744690578as many as you can get
>>74469057827'' or don't even bother getting one.
>>744690175I have a 240 4K OLED monitor, I already said that retard. 120Hz is already great, 24pHz is overkill, 360Hz is full retard especially when you have to sacrifice picture quality for it. I only went 240Hz because it was also a 4k OLED, best of all three worlds. Indie/older games at 120Hz are already insanely low lag (like close to single digit ms), and the games that benefit most from high fps are modern games where input lag is mostly closely linked to framerate, and those are prohibitively difficult to run at 240fps unless you absolutely neuter the graphical settings and run with extreme poverty tier DLSS. Also you want to avoid being near max GPU load for optimal latency. Essentially, you can count the number of games that benefit from over 240Hz on one hand, and the benefit is extremely marginal, like a few ms better input lag, and slightly better motion clarity which you could achieve similar results with BFI without needing to run the game at absurd framerates. (and both are still not nearly as good as CRT)
>>744691545>I only went 240Hz because it was also a 4k OLED, best of all three worlds.OLED is hugely inferior to strobed TNs in motion clarity and also has all kinds of miscellaneous retarded problems like: bad subpixel layout (makes text look like shit,) burn-in, terrible grays, bad laminants, etc.Rest of your post is buyer's remorse fictional cope like "Um it's not better evendoe I've never seen it" and "Only like 3 games run above 240fps!!" (LOL)
>>744691145That's not the monitor you have or the one you posted, retard. And you need 1000Hz+ with OLED to achieve the motion clarity of CRT, not to mention that has to actually be 1000fls real framerate (essentially unachievable or anything close) or strobed, which usually requires half the target framerate, makes the screen extremely dark, and BFI usually has other qualifiers, issues, or poor implementation.Look at all the cheap shitty tricks these displays need to mimic even a fraction the power of a shitty $5 CRT on the side of the road
>>744692235>And you need 1000Hz+ with OLED to achieve the motion clarity of CRTretarded monkey who thinks "motion clarity" and "persistence" are the same thing (they aren't)only a sub-80-IQ article-regurgitating retard would think a 600hz 1080p display has lower motion clarity than a 60hz 480i one, it's literally 40x the information rate LOL
>>744691717>LG OLED>doesn't even specify the modelHoly shit what a retarded nigger he isOLED's picture quality is miles better than shitty TN. You really have to be a tasteless esports autist rat to choose TN over OLED
>>744692402>OLED's picture quality is miles better than shitty TN.Spoken like an OLED marketing victim. Enjoy that lower motion clarity, shit text rendering, bad grays, and burn-in!
>>744692316>motion clarity is the amount of pixels you see per secondFucking retard. Motion clarity is how CLEAR the MOTION is. CRT motion is more clear than even a 1000Hz sample and hold display or 1000Hz strobed
>>744692624>Fucking retard. Motion clarity is how CLEAR the MOTION isMotion clarity is the amount of information the display conveys to your eyeballs in a set time-frame. Modern LCDs display about 40x more information per second than CRTs. This can be confounded by display artifacts like display persistence, but if LCDs are strobed, their persistence is barely worse than CRTs. You don't have any idea what you're talking about and just string together words you don't understand, which you've absorbed from pop culture. It's obvious to anyone with an IQ above 90 that a 600hz display has better motion clarity than a 60hz display. Just try doing a fast 180-degree turn for a really easy demonstration of why that is.
>>744679512the crt market has gotten shittier as time went on. gone are the days of just picking up free crts off the curb. i'm waiting for the patents on laser phosphor displays to run out so people start producing them as a cheaper alternative to dwindling crt stocks.
>>744690578If you're new to CRT hunting and just want to give it a go I'd say 21" and up. 21" is probably the limit on comfortable solo carry for most people. Those little 14" sets are cute but I'd only bother with them if you have to make a change to your layout that you'd feel uncomfortable making. Look for monitors too, 17" and up, and give modern games a go on them it's kind of mind blowing to some people.
>>744692506>tests OLED monitor >includings zero information or model about it>tests shitty LCD monitor he has marketing deals with>includes detailed model names, specs, and referral links>guys make sure to check out this exact model!! epic motion clarity!! Smash the like button and link in the description!!Lmao what a fucking shill rat this ugly jew is. Low res, low brightness, pisspoor image quality, artifacting out the ass, but look how it's slightly clearer in this UFO test!! You must buy!!
>>744692892The monitor on the left side in that pic is a brand-new $1400 480hz OLED. It is, unsurprisingly, totally inferior in motion clarity to strobed TN monitors from over a year ago. But it comes with free add-ons like burn-in, horrible grays gamut, bad text rendering, etc.
>>744692763>a 16k display at 1Hz has 28x the motion clarity of a 60Hz SD CRTLmao, you have to be trolling. What kind of subhuman ESL retard can see yhe word 'motion clarity' and think ">ah yes, that must be the number of pixels you see each secondAlso, CRTs aren't a 60Hz display in practice when it comes to motion clarity. Due to the way they draw the frames they have 60Hz content but with flawless 1200Hz strobing, so they look to the human eye like 1200Hz content
>realize there's an old CRT out in my shed>that's been out there for over a decade since my dad passed, and the cables sure as shit aren't in the house anymoreThat's probably a dead one ain't it
>>744693292>Also, CRTs aren't a 60Hz display in practice when it comes to motion clarity. Due to the way they draw the frames they have 60Hz content but with flawless 1200Hz strobing, so they look to the human eye like 1200Hz contentLiterally cackling IRL at how retarded this is. Yep, your 60hz CRT looks the same as a 1200hz LCD. I feel no need to engage with you further. Good luck with life, you're gonna need it!
>>744693018>b-b-buh the text in muh word doc is ever so slightly clearer!!!Holy copeTN is shit and anyone using it is a larping failed esports faggot who is paying top dollar for garbage picture quality just to have slightly better motion clarity that gets mogged to death by a free CRT on the side of the road
>>744692506you can see that tn shit can smearing lmaotheir pixel response times just aren't good enough
>>744693392Uhhh retardkun, both the blurbuster shill and DF alrrady admitted years ago that CRT looks to the human eye equivalent to over 1000Hz of a sample and hold display like TN, and that's with only 60Hz content and without extreme screen darkening from BFI
>>744693425The TN in your pic is an old cheap $80 TN from like 20 years ago next to a 2026 $1200 OLED. The new good TNs have better viewing angles, color gamut, and blacks than most IPS. As well as having hugely superior motion clarity to every OLED, and none of the issues like burn-in, shit grays, or bad subpixel rendering. Or bad laminants that make the entire display fuzzy since OLEDs have always been marketed to low-information "home theater" boomers who buy whatever google advertises to them. Unfortunately, sometimes the occasional 20yo retard also gets fooled by this marketing designed to fool boomers. That's you.
>>744679512>permanentlyall the hoarders will eventually die and i may or may not buy their shit cheap when i feel like it.
>>744693602>My E-celeb daddies said <x>!kek
>>744688285Not over component. GCN and Xbox games have a forced deflicker filter and only a few titles let you turn it off. PS2 doesn't have anything like that, it's just the raw lines beamed to the screen with no post-process softening.
>>744693605>b-b-but it's almost as good as IPSNigga IPS is trash and only poorfags have been using them for the last decade. It's why so many people opted to use TVs for monitors before OLED monitors became so common. IPS are good for office work, not fucking movies and videogamesAnd yet you are paying top dollar for a monitor that looks like shit because you think 2ms less input lag will make you go pro in CSGO hhahahaahaaha
>>744693602Nigger it's about how many pictures you see, the information you receive, not about muh sample and hold
>>744693787>MY BLACKS ARE SO DEEP!Great, the rest of your display is shit. I guess it will help when you watch blacked cuckold porn?
>>744693801It's about how many pictures YOUR EYES PERCEIVE, you fucking retarded mong. The way CRTs draw frames makes it look perfectly clear even when in-game content is moving extremely fast. Again a 60Hz game on a CRT looks equivalent to well over 1000Hz of a standard LCD due to the way your eyes track and perceive motion
>>744693914Holy cope.
But I do have one and the respective RGB cables for PS2 and Wii
>>744693914Yes retard, it isIt about how good your mouse movement feelsAnd high refresh rates mean your mouse movement is replicated better
>>744694217Mouse on CRT feels equivalent to over 1000Hz. Genuinely the only way you're making these posts is if you're a zoomer shit who has never used a CRT for even a minute lmao
>>744694285Genuinely the only way you can cope like this is if you've never used a high refresh rate oled It's not about your faggot UFO tests
>>744679512I got rid of mine a decade ago. No fucking regrets I fucking hate the hassle of original hardware. I had a dozen air tight waterproof boxes with all my shit in the bar. PC does it 99.9% as well at worst I'm more than happy when I get a hankering for old console games
>>744693392>Yep, your 60hz CRT looks the same as a 1200hz LCDyou can't run a modern game at 1200hz so who cares?>>744693390>That's probably a dead one ain't itYou'd be surprised. Take it inside, pop the back off and have a look at the board. If it's all covered in shit get a brush and scrub it off a bit, and don't go ham on it or you might damage something. There's no CRT with an intact tube that you can't revive with a bit of effort.>>744694217>And high refresh rates mean your mouse movement is replicated betterThere's actually a lot of things that affect this and it's a pretty moot argument for or against CRTs at this point. Modern monitors have near instant response times, they might as well be on par with a CRT monitor given a modern GPU doesn't have an analogue output anymore and a HDMI to VGA is going to introduce like 5ms. You can't use an old card with a VGA output for basically anything relevant today so I don't think considering CRT response time in a PC gaming sense is even worthwhile.
motion clarity is absolute ass on all lcd/led based monitors shits been around for decades and still completely fucked compared to crts
>>744679512I know /v/ is retarded but >>744680217 is objectively correct since CRT’s have very good refresh rates. The only thing CRT tubes are limited on is resolution, since they get exponentially heavier and more difficult to manufacture at scale. I’ve yet to see display technology that beats CRT at refresh rates. Also they’re mostly retard proof, if a chip dies on a LCD, OLED, etc good luck replacing it, meanwhile some retard can just replace the electron beam gun or easily troubleshoot what’s causing the scan to be so erratic (bad cap, bad fuse, bad resistor, etc) Only downside is the noise, resolution, and weight.
I have a couple CRT's. Currently making my first arcade cab. Never done woodworking before so I'm pretty apprehensive about the whole project. But I finally bought all the plywood today so I can't stop now.
>>744687742Old consoles look like dogshit on modern TVs. Upscalers and converts are a meme.
>>744694974>Currently making my first arcade cab.coolI found a boomer on youtube who does this with old tvshe actually takes the tube and transplants it to an arcade board
>>744694895>meanwhile some retard can just replace the electron beam gunAnon almost no one in the entire world is capable of doing this. I am aware of a singular company in germany that still offers this service. >>744694974Nice, what are you putting in there? Actual hardware or emulation?
>>744694713not true for 120hz oled monitors
>>744694895literally every single thing in your post is wrongjust as an example, no, CRTs are not more repairable LOL. every CRT will die out to phosphor degradation and burn-in, there is NO way to fix or repair that. the equivalent on an LCD is after 20 years the backlight gets 30% dimmer and you can replace the LEDs with $8 replacement strips that are plug-n-playwhy are pro-CRT people some of the dumbest and most low-info zoomer tards? must be because they learned about CRTs from youtubers
>>744695564>>120hz choppyjitteryASSeven a 60hz crt is smoother
>millennials are now banned from using the tech they grew up with, because it’s now for “zoomers”First you banned all the games I currently own that I grew up with, now you’re banning the display? Why are we no longer allowed to play what we currently have? Why are zoomers allowed to have exclusive ownership over it?
>>744695796Every display is gonna die from user over time, obviously. But it's 2026 and we've been pulling CRTs out of bins from the 80s and they still look fine. That's why you want to get a few of them, so you can cycle them in and out. I'm not gonna live forever but I'll have CRTs until I'm dead. Future gens are fucked ofc but the ones we have if looked after will last another hundred years. But for the most part they are entirely serviceable with a bit of know how.
>>744679512>why the fuck do you not own a CRT yet?Because a free CRT shader does the job just fine>inb4 muh input lag, muh wrong colorsWhatever, nerd - works on my machine
