>Currently average of ~350 players playing at any given time>Down from 2000+ during 2020Can it be saved? Is there even a place in the market for MMOFPSs in 2026?
>>744680929It was over when TheyBreakGames took over
>Can it be saved? Probably not. The foundation of the game already kinda sucked with many people hoping they'd get their shit together. That never happened so those early adopters eventually left. At this point all good will left the country and remarried.
>>744680929>Can it be saved? This auto saves you bloody bastard
>>744680929>10+ year old game no longer has any playersNigga I was playing this game in middle school. How long do you think online games are supposed to last? Not everything can be WoW.
>>744680929Fuck no. Hell, the worst thing that happened was actually from the very start. When the servers shat the bed and they lost majority of the players in first month of the game.
>>744680929It can't be saved but if you made a new MMOFPS with an obnoxious proximity voice chat system and hired influencers to spread clips of that you could probably get a couple months of good cash flow out of it.
>>744682069Plenty of ancient games doing just fine (See most anything made by valve).Planetside 2 literally has a monopoly on an entire genre and they fucking shit the bed so hard that it still failed despite it being F2P.
>>744682584If you’re talking about Counter Strike, it’s gone through another iteration since CS:GO.If you’re talking about TF2, it’s time to stop coping unc.
>>744682584Planetside definitely does not have a monopoly on the “big ass multiplayer war with vehicles and capture points and resources” genre. Wasn’t even the first to do it. I remember playing WW2 online back in the day.
>>744683779>50,000 current players and steam's top 20 is a cope
>>744683779Even Left 4 Dead 2 has 24k players right now, and Planetside 2 has a maximum of 2000 players per server. PS2 would be thriving with those numbers.
>>744684667Easy anon, he's a zoomer- be niceHe only knows 4chan and how to ask AI to do his homework
>>744680929Even if it wasn't dead it's well past it's glory days and will never recuperate towards anything close to that. I think it's on it's way out without a massive revamp, but the scale required us such they may as well do a sequel, but I don't know if the studio has the talent for that anymore. They've been doing mostly maintenance work for so long.I feel like the gaming population doesn't like games at this scale anymore or engage with it in the way the game needs to survive. People just don't talk in game like they use too.
>>744680929PlanetSide 2 was made in around 18 months for the fucking EverQuest engine, the fact it is still limping along at all after literally decades of incompetent management is both a miracle in itself and proof that the "mmo fps" genre is woefully undertapped. Now that you can run games with hundreds of people without needing a specialized engine just to keep the whole thing from falling apart it would in theory be easy to make a new game that finally puts the last nail in the coffin of Smeddler the Peddler's Wild Ride.
>>744680929>Can it be saved?FIX THE MOTHERFUCKING CRASH BUG GODDMAN IT
>All ice cream gets ripped off the store shelf>All ice cream restaurants fucks off>Most kids now haven't tried ice cream because that only place to get it is some run down shack in the country that sells Ice Cream with dirt in it>"Naw bro, modern kids wouldn't like Ice Cream, it's never come back"
